Daniel Radcliffe On Self-Googling
A reporter from the Guardian talked to Daniel Radcliffe about self-Googling.
I wonder if he has ever Googled himself and seen the automatic search entries, but before I finish the question he’s started reeling them off: “Daniel Radcliffe alcoholic. Daniel Radcliffe gay. Daniel Radcliffe girlfriend,” he says, sighing as he does. Actually, I tell him, girlfriend is the top result these days. “Oh great – I’ll take that, as these things go. I’m pleased my girlfriend comes up before alcoholic or gay. When I first did that, I got really annoyed for about half a minute, until I tried a few other people’s names and I found out [gay] comes up after almost everyone if they’re a man, and even some women – Florence Welch had it, and I was like, really?” Maybe it’s a sign that a star has made it. “Probably. If people are speculating about your sexuality, then you’re doing OK,” he laughs, then says that these days he resists the temptation to self-Google as “it fucks you up. You shouldn’t be on there if you’re an actor. There’s a line in The Thick Of It – Googling yourself is like opening the door to a room full of people telling you how shit you are – and it’s exactly that. I first did it in my late teens and it was such a destructive thing for me to do.”Radcliffe's What If is now in theaters.

Daniel Radcliffe: I Won't Play Freddie
"There is no truth to it at all. It's one of those very, very funny things: it came out of a story in the Daily Star and then you see newspapers like The Guardian using The Star as their source, and it grows and grows [until] it's 'Dan Radcliffe is playing Freddie Mercury!', which I was never going to do. Everyone on the internet who I presume is saying I'm totally wrong for that part is correct. I AM completely wrong for that part! If I'd seen a rumour about me playing Iggy Pop, I'd think, 'Hey, I'd have a go at that - that'd be fun!', but Freddie Mercury? No." - Daniel Radcliffe, speaking to Empire.

Daniel Radcliffe As Freddie Mercury?
The Guardian reports:
Daniel Radcliffe is the latest name in the frame for the planned film biopic of the late Queen singer Freddie Mercury, it has been reported. The Daily Star claimed a source told the paper: "Daniel has been told the part is his if he wants it." Radcliffe's possible casting follows the news in July that original star Sacha Baron Cohen pulled out of the project, citing a clash between his desire to make a "racy" biopic in contrast to Mercury's erstwhile bandmates, who are said to want a more "family-friendly" approach.Others that have been suggested for the role include Hugh Jackman, Adam Lambert, Russell Brand, Ewan McGregor and James Franco. But Johnny Depp is said to be the favorite of the bookies who take bets on these sorts of things.

Quote Of The Day - Daniel Radcliffe
"Learning about the suicide deaths of Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh, Asher Brown, Billy Lucas and Justin Aaberg has been heartbreaking for me. These young people were bullied and tormented by people that should have been their friends. We have a responsibility to be better to each other, and accept each others' differences regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ability, or religion and stand up for someone when they're bullied. When a friend is feeling depressed or says they're thinking of killing themselves, we must take it seriously and get them help. You can make a difference in someone's life by learning the warning signs for suicide and how you can help someone who is suicidal by visiting the Trevor Project."My deepest sympathies go out to the families and friends of these excellent young people. And to all the young people who are being bullied right now, you are not alone. Call the Trevor Lifeline at 866 4-U-TREVOR, because there's always someone there who will listen and who can help." - Actor Daniel Radcliffe, as quoted on MTV.com.

Friendly Voices - Daniel Radcliffe
"I grew up knowing a lot of gay men and it was never something that I even thought twice about -- that some men were gay and some weren't. And then I went to school and (for) the first time ... I came across homophobia. I had never encountered it before. It shocked me. I have always hated anybody who is not tolerant of gay men or lesbians or bisexuals. Now I am in the very fortunate position where I can actually help or do something about it."I have described myself as being 'gently eccentric' and slightly different as a person just because I've had a very different set of influences growing up than anybody else in my peer group did. I think it's important for somebody from a big, commercial movie series like Harry Potter and particularly because I am not gay or bisexual or transgendered. The fact that I am straight makes not a difference, but it shows that straight people are incredibly interested and care a lot about this as well." - Daniel Radcliffe, speaking from the NYC headquarters of the LGBT teen suicide prevention hotline The Trevor Project, for whom he has just made a promotional film.

Daniel Radcliffe Helps Trevor Project
The Trevor Project, the nation's only gay youth suicide prevention hotline, has announced (PDF) the receipt of a "major donation" from Daniel Radcliffe, who says:“I am very pleased to begin my support of The Trevor Project, which saves lives every day through its critical work. It's extremely distressing to consider that in 2009 suicide is a top three killer of young people, and it's truly devastating to learn that LGBTQ youth are up to four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers. I deeply hope my support can raise the organization's visibility so even more despondent youth become aware of The Trevor Helpline's highly trained counselors and Trevor’s many other resources. It's vitally important that young people understand they are not alone and, perhaps even more important, that their young lives have real value.”Thank you, Mr. Radcliffe!

Friendly Voices - Daniel Radcliffe
"I just loathe homophobia. It’s just disgusting and animal and stupid and it’s just thick people who can’t get their heads around it and are just scared. I grew up around gay people entirely. I was the only child in my class who had any experience of homosexuality or anything like that." - Daniel Radcliffe, speaking to Attitude Magazine.Labels: "celibacy", Daniel Radcliffe, Friendly Voices, Harry Potter, movies

Quote Of The Day - Daniel Radcliffe
"I'd love to play a drag queen or transvestite, but not just because of the costumes. Wait, what am I saying? Yes, because of the costumes! If the script was good - I wouldn't just do it because I got to dress up. Although I maintain that I look good with eye make-up. And I'm not going to be an emo kid, so the only other option is drag queen." - Daniel Radcliffe, who adds that the best way to avoid paparazzi is to "go out with a 6ft 8in beautiful transsexual. No-one gives you a second glance."Labels: "celibacy", Daniel Radcliffe, drag, Quote Of The Day
