Hate Groups To SCOTUS: Gay Marriage Causes Slutty Girls And Violent Boys

A coalition of anti-gay hate groups has filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court which argues, among other reasons, that same-sex marriage must not be approved because otherwise the nation will be overrun with trampy girls and violent boys. From the brief:
Fathers tend to roughhouse and engage in stimulating play with their children, which helps teach them to avoid violence and control aggression—important lessons that in turn enable children to form healthy relationships with their peers. Fathers also discipline less frequently than mothers, but are more consistent in applying predetermined consequences for particular actions. Indeed, the mere presence of a father in the home significantly reduces the likelihood that boys will engage in delinquent behavior. For boys, fathers also serve as role models by engendering a healthy respect for femininity, and that respect discourages compensatory masculinity and associated aggressive and violent behavior. For girls, an involved father reduces the likelihood of early sexual activity and teenage pregnancy, promotes self-esteem and a positive body image, and decreases the risk of eating disorders.
Among the brief's "authorities" is discredited researcher Mark Regnerus. Signees of the brief include Focus On The Family, The Family Leader, the Indiana Family Institute, the Center for Arizona Policy, the Christian Civic League of Maine, the Florida Family Policy Council, Hawaii Family Advocates, and a jillion other nutbag groups with "family" in their names. Don't hold your breath for these groups to act against the millions of American households headed by all those single heterosexual parents.

IOWA: Hate Group Rallies In Yet Another Attempt To Overturn Same-Sex Marriage

Via the Iowa Republican:
Almost six years have passed since the Iowa Supreme Court opened the door for gay marriages in the state. As each year passes, public opinion grows more in favor of gay marriage. However, The Family Leader, one of Iowa’s preeminent Christian conservative organizations, is not relenting in its efforts to see that court decision overturned. The group, led by Bob Vander Plaats, held its annual Life, Marriage and Family Rally at Iowa Historical Building on Tuesday. 150 conservatives from around the state gathered to hear guest speaker Del Tackett’s message for on God’s design for man and woman. Following the rally, the group ascended the steps to the State Capitol, equipped with 163 Founders’ Bibles. Thanks to the efforts of churches around the state, The Family Leader was able to compile copies of the Founders’ Bible to give to every state legislator, executive branch official and Supreme Court justice in Iowa. “Just to show our support physically by being here, I think it’s a great encouragement as our legislature gathers over these next months to know that the church certainly is lifting them up and trusting that God will speak to them as they lead our country,” said Pastor Doug Rowland from Davenport.
The bible given to legislators was written by discredited "historian" David Barton. In the clip below, Family Leader head Bob Vander Platts hits the usual loony tunes talking points about people marrying their dogs, etc etc. You may recall that in 2011 Vander Platts was investigated for allegedly offering to sell his presidential endorsement to Rick Santorum.

Iowa Hate Group Leader Links Terrorism With Same-Sex Marriage

Miranda Blue writes at Right Wing Watch
Bob Vander Plaats, president of the Iowa-based Religious Right group The Family Leader, held a revival event yesterday that also happened to be a good marketing opportunity for his new book about the “urgent call for revival” in America. Vander Plaats introduced the event — which also featured a Q & A with Chuck Norris and a performance by the Christian rock band the Newsboys — by showing a video of the “darkness” in America that he identified as calling for a spiritual revival. Featured in the video are images of terrorists attacks and mass shootings….along with images of same-sex weddings, the Boy Scouts’ admittance of gay members, and rallies on behalf of legalizing marijuana.

Christian Hate Group: It's Better To Die Than To Live In A Gay-Friendly World

"All across the nation, Christians are being targeted by homosexual activists who’s agenda is clear: approve of my lifestyle or pay the consequences! At first, the cases were few and far between. Now the number of cases are building, and the collective threat is growing, with the goal of suffocating Christians’ vocal opposition to promoting a lifestyle which is not consistent with their faith. What will you do? Will you give in to their agenda by saying and doing nothing? Or will you lead yourself, your family, your church, and your community? Our nation, our children need leadership. What you choose will impact generations to come. To paraphrase a quote from Winston Churchill: 'If you do not fight when you have a chance of winning, you will eventually fight when you have no hope of winning, because it will be better to die than to live.'" - From a message posted to the website of Iowa's Family Leader, which is headed by Bob Vander Platts, who in 2011 was accused of offering to sell his endorsement to Frothy Mix for a million dollars.
