PHILADELPHIA: TLC Drops Duggar Family From Summer Block Party Event

Via the Daily Mail:
TLC has pulled Jim Bob Duggar, his wife Michelle and their 19 children from its highly-anticipated Summer Block Party, which is taking place in Philadelphia at noon on Saturday. The family had originally been slated to appear at the event, which features a number of network stars and is open and free to the public - and had even appeared on the party's official poster. But they have since been dropped from the party, while Little People Big World's Roloff family has replaced Jim Bob and Michelle on the poster, according to screenshots from the event's website. It comes just days after a shocking 2006 police report emerged alleging that Josh had molested five young girls in 2002 and 2003 - in some cases, while they were sleeping - and later admitted to it. On Friday, TLC revealed it had pulled 19 Kids and Counting from its schedule - one day after it had decided to run a marathon of the show that heavily featured Josh, which had outraged fans.

TLC Pulls Duggar Show From Schedule

Via the Hollywood Reporter:
TLC has pulled 19 Kids and Counting from its schedule in the wake of star Josh Duggar's admission that he molested several underage girls 12 years ago, including his sisters. TLC refused to comment on the incident Thursday, but the network sparked outrage later that evening when it ran a 19 Kids and Counting marathon. As of early Friday, the show had been scheduled to air on the morning of May 27, but it has since been taken off the schedule. The move is no surprise considering that TLC canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo shortly after allegations surfaced about a romantic relationship between series matriarch June "Mama June" Shannon and a man convicted of child molestation. Like Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, 19 Kids and Counting is one of the cable channel's biggest brands. The show has been on the air since 2008 and is in its 15th season. The profile of the Duggar family had been on the rise in recent years thanks to national magazine covers focused on the marriages and pregnancies of the Duggar children.
The show hasn't been officially canceled. YET.

UPDATE: TMZ reports that General Mills has "blacklisted" the show.

More On My Husband's Not Gay Flap

Via Media Matters:
TLC denies claims that its newest show, "My Husband's Not Gay," helps promote the discredited notion that gay men can choose to be heterosexual. But one of the show's stars has a history of promoting "ex-gay" therapy, even acting as a spokesman for a major "ex-gay" organization. But one of the stars of TLC's show - Preston "Pret" Dahlgren - has a history of speaking on behalf of "ex-gay" ministries, repeatedly using his testimony to promote organizations that promote reparative therapy. Dahlgren is the former chairman of Evergreen International, a Salt Lake City-based ex-gay organization which catered to the Mormon community. The group promised to help people "diminish... same-gender attractions and overcome homosexual behavior," largely relying on the work of the notorious National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH). At a 2012 Evergreen Conference Fireside, Dahlgren gave a speech defending efforts to help people overcome same-sex attraction, stating that "same-sex attractions are almost invariably rooted in deeper issues."
Dalgren is now on the board of new "ex-gay" Mormon group called North Star International. He and his wife have made a video for them too.

HomoQuotable - Sara Gilbert

"I think if you're on a show called My Husband's Not Gay, then your husband's gay. But I also think there is a reverse bullying in the gay community where you can't do it a certain way and - I'm sure this is controversial - but I think if a guy is attracted to guys and he wants to try to live a straight lifestyle that is as much his prerogative than somebody who wants to live a gay lifestyle." - Sara Gilbert, responding to criticism of the coming reality show.

Yesterday Truth Wins Out pointed out that the show's cast is "deeply involved" with the "ex-gay" brainwashing movement.
Truth Wins Out today expressed dismay over TLC’s upcoming special, “My Husband’s Not Gay,” set to air Sunday, January 11, which purports to show the lives of Mormon men who have chosen to marry women despite the fact that they are attracted to men. Advertisements for the show depict a curious look into the unique lives of these men, but, as is the case with TLC’s show “19 Kids And Counting,” a much darker agenda lies under the surface. Seven members of the cast of “My Husband’s Not Gay” are deeply affiliated with North Star, a radical Mormon “ex-gay” group. Jeff Bennion, one of the stars of the show, is so extremist that he has written that “it would have been wrong to ordain a black person in May of 1978, even if you knew with a certainty that is changing the next month,” referring to the fact that, before 1978, black men could not be Mormon priests, and that both black men and women were generally prohibited from full membership in the church. Bennion has also written extensively in support of the deeply harmful practice of “ex-gay” therapy.
A Change.org petition which calls on TLC to cancel the show currently has over 90,000 signatures. From the petition:
The men featured in this show deserve to be shown compassion and acceptance. Perhaps even more importantly, TV viewers need to know the horrific consequences of trying to change who you are. Instead, TLC is presenting victims’ lives as entertainment, while sending the message that being gay is something that can and ought to be changed, or that you should reject your sexual orientation by marrying someone of the opposite sex. This message is harmful to both LGBT people and communities of faith, and I call upon TLC to stop spreading such dangerous misinformation by cancelling “My Husband’s Not Gay” immediately.
The show has also been denounced by GLAAD.

TLC will air a special in January called “My Husband’s Not Gay” that follows four men living in Salt Lake City, Utah, who don’t identify themselves as homosexual despite having an attraction to men. The show focuses on three married couples: Jeff and Tanya, Pret and Megan, and Curtis and Tera. Joining the cast is 35-year-old Tom, the bachelor of the group who enjoys fishing and baseball andserved as a missionary in Long Beach. Human Rights Campaign: Does TLC Know How Hateful The Duggars Really Are?

From the HRC's blog:
Last night, LGBT equality took a step backward in Arkansas following a Fayetteville vote to repeal a citywide non-discrimination ordinance that included protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

In a vicious, months-long campaign, anti-LGBT activists painted Ordinance 119 -- a non-discrimination law -- as something that would allow "sexual predators ... to enter gender-private areas." This is legally wrong and has never been reported by officials in 12 states with non-discrimination laws on the books from as far back as 1993.

At the helm of the repulsive campaign against LGBT Arkansans was none other than the Duggar clan, best known from the TLC series "19 and Counting.” The family donated $10,000 dollars of its own money to the election campaigns of three of the staunchest opponents of the non-discrimination ordinance -- John La Tour, Joshua Crawford and Paul Phaenuef. And since August, the hate-fueled campaign has been airing transphobic robo-calls like this one from Mother Michelle to push forward its discriminatory mission.

It’s not the first time the Duggar clan has used their celebrity to advocate against equality. In October 2013, the Duggars went on the road with the Family Research Council for a “Values Bus Tour” across Virginia in support of a radically anti-LGBT gubernatorial ticket. Last month, Josh Duggar led a rally against marriage equality in Little Rock, Arkansas last minute.

It is time for the TLC celebrities to end their nationwide campaign to walk back the rights of LGBT Americans.Help to spread the word about how the Duggars are exploiting their fame to attack trans people. Tweet now.
Last month LGBT activists hijacked the fuck out of the pro-Duggars social media campaign, so there's no way TLC missed those thousands of tweets.

AFA: Rabid Homosexuals Want To Bully The Duggar Family Off Reality Television

Via email from the American Family Association:
Dear Supporter, Rabid homosexual activists have made America’s favorite family enemy Number One. The Duggar Family from TLC network’s 19 Kids and Counting has shared their strong Christian faith with millions of families across America for years. They are unashamedly pro-life and Christ-centered. Because of their uncompromising stand on marriage and abstinence, the homosexual lobby has drawn a bully bead on Jim and Michelle Duggar. Gay activists are publicly labeling Jim and Michelle with words like “ignorance” and “fear mongering.” In the past week, homosexuals launched a very frightening and fast-growing petition asking TLC to cancel 19 Kids and Counting. Already, their hate-filled petition has gathered 130,000 signatures, thanks to the liberal media’s propaganda machine. TLC needs to know you support the Duggars and 19 Kids and Counting! If TLC hears from enough Christians, they will not even consider canceling the show. Our goal is 1,000,000 signatures by Christmas!
Anti-gay activists have also launched a Twitter campaign at #DefendTheDuggars. What are you waiting for?

UPDATE: Somebody's ever so pissed about our little project.

TLC Blurs Duggars' Roe V Wade Shirts

The maker of an anti-abortion shirt is angry with TLC for blurring his message during this week's episode of 19 Kids And Counting.
Knowing how dedicated to the pro-life cause the Duggars are, I expected to see the shirts many times on their show. It really amazes me that TLC would censor this; it’s not like people don’t know the Duggar’s beliefs. Knowing that the shirt appeared in the previous episode without being blurred, I am wondering if they received complaints or negative feedback after it aired. I say we show TLC that there is so much more support for the Duggars wearing these shirts than there are complaints. I hope everyone reading this will tweet and e-mail TLC and let them know how disappointed you are that they would blur out this pro-life message.
The shirt reads: "I survived Roe V Wade, Roe V Wade will not survive me."

One Million Moms Vs TLC

From the economic terrorists at One Million Moms:
Joe, TLC obviously enjoys promoting immoral reality shows with unethical lifestyles! The new reality show, "My Five Wives," promotes another polygamist family airing on Sunday evenings at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) and 9:00 p.m. CT on TLC. The family in the show consists of one husband, five wives and their combined twenty-four children. Not only is their unconventional family structure absurd and confusing, but their living arrangements are as well. These five women are constantly discussing how difficult sharing a husband is and have to stick to a schedule on who gets the husband on which night to keep jealousy to a minimum, especially concerning time spent together. This is their solution on how to function without chaos.

TLC implies that the loving, tight-knit family has established a cohesive, loving unit. In other words, everything is fine and dandy, and nothing is morally wrong with their lifestyle choice. Instead of TLC airing programs that are enlightening and encouraging- after all they are The Learning Channel- they have decided to stoop so low as to show this controversial content, again. TLC doesn't seem to mind that this lifestyle is illegal, nor that it is ethically wrong. Please send an email letter to the sponsors of this week's "My Five Wives" asking that they pull their support immediately from a program that degrades family and marriage. This week's national sponsors were: Subway, Realtor.com, Arm & Hammer (Church & Dwight Co.), Evolution of Smooth (eos), Capri Sun (Kraft Foods) and Cracker Barrel Cheese.
