Petition Calls For IOC To Revoke Olympic Gold Medals From Caitlyn Jenner

From the petition:

Dear International Olympic Committee, It has recently come to light that gold medalist Bruce Jenner is in fact transgender, and therefore, identifies as a woman. We congratulate Ms. Jenner on these new developments and wish her the best. However, this creates somewhat of a problem as Ms. Jenner (as talented as she is) claims that she has always believed herself to be truly female, and therefore, was in violation of committee rules regarding women competing in men's sports and vice versa. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that we must ask whether or not it is proper that Ms. Jenner should retain her Olympic records in light of this, as we must now either claim that Bruce Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner are two entirely different people (which we know is not true), or that Bruce Jenner was, in fact, a woman participating in a men's event. It is only fair to all involved that women receive their credit as champions of the Decathalon and that the men racing Ms. Jenner are not expected to compete with a superior, streamlined being such as herself.

Bill Maher Launches 4/20 Holiday Petition

Now that marijuana is legal in one form or another in 24 states and counting, I’m here to urge you to sign my petition to make 4/20 a national holiday. We celebrate everything from Arbor Day to Groundhog Day to a National Day of Prayer. It’s high time we had a weed day. Because if we can set days aside to pay tribute to trees, a rodent or a space ghost, we can certainly designate one day to officially recognize a true American institution. Mr. Los Angeles Leather 2014 Eric Leue has launched a petition calling for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to remove CEO Michael Weinstein for characterizing Truvada as a "party drug" rather than as a daily HIV preventive.

This petition is not about how Weinstein or we personally feel about HIV PrEP. This petition is about whether we, the people, should be allowed access to accurate information, free of stigma and discrimination. Since 1980, HIV and its prevention has been framed in moral terms, and the people carrying the virus blamed. The head of our largest AIDS service organization should know that HIV prevention is not “a party.” With our signatures to remove Michael Weinstein as CEO and President of the AHF, we encourage the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to reconnect with the public to be able to continue their important work hand in hand with the communities they serve.

The FDA approved Truvada for HIV prevention nearly two years ago, but relatively few gay men are using it for that purpose due (in part) to the "Truvada whore" stigma. Click on the post link for Truvada for more stories on this issue.

Pennsylvania state Rep. Brian Sims writes:

The time has come for our Pennsylvania Human Relations Act to include a basic level of protection for members of the LGBT community in Pennsylvania. That's why I’ve not only co-sponsored House Bill 300 this legislative session, but am also working hard with Prime Sponsors Rep. Dan Frankel and Rep. Chris Ross to build support for its passage. Currently, we protect our citizens from discrimination based on race, religion, gender, age, ability, yet there is no protection for hate-crimes victims that are based on sexual orientation. Reps. Frankel, Ross, and I need your help to pressure my fellow legislators in the Pennsylvania House and Senate to support this ground-breaking and historic legislation to protect the LGBT people of Pennsylvania.
