FLORIDA: George Zimmerman Shot In The Face During Alleged Road Rage Incident

Via Orlando's NBC affiliate:
George Zimmerman was involved in a shooting incident in Lake Mary on Monday afternoon, according to Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell. The shooting involved two men and happened on Lake Mary Boulevard about 12:45 p.m., police said. Officers at the scene said it appeared Zimmerman suffered a minor gunshot wound, Bracknell said. “He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” said witness Ricardo Berrare. Chopper 2 video showed a bullet hole in the passenger window the vehicle Zimmerman was in. Bracknell said the shooting may have been related to an "ongoing dispute" involving Zimmerman and another person. In January, Zimmerman was accused of assault by his girlfriend, but no charges were filed after she recanted her allegation. He was also arrested in November 2013 on domestic violence allegations after his girlfriend called police. His girlfriend later recanted her story and charges were never filed. Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in 2013.
Totally another set-up, right?

George Zimmerman, Celebrity Boxer

TMZ has the details:
Now's your chance to kick George Zimmerman's ass with zero legal repercussions -- he just agreed to a celebrity boxing match ... and he says he'll fight ANYONE ... even black people. Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman threw down the challenge, offering George money to step in the ring. Now here's the kicker ... the opponent has NOT been selected. We're told George is open to fighting a black person, but the promoter is not discriminating, telling us "We're not looking at it as a race thing ... We haven't discussed purple, yellow, white, black." Lately George has been more interested in boxing than guns ... regularly training in the ring.
Zimmerman will reportedly donated his cut to charity.

Bidding On Painting By George Zimmerman Nears $100,000 On eBay

Raw Story reports:
After beating the rap on murder charges and a pair of domestic violence cases, George Zimmerman has turned to art. The Florida man is selling his first-ever painted work on eBay and has already attracted nearly 100 bids – and just short of $100,000 – in an auction that ends early Monday morning. Zimmerman’s brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., confirmed the auction is legitimate and the artwork is authentic. The 18-inch-by-24-inch canvas shows a rippling American flag in close-up, painted in light and dark blue hues, with the words “God, One Nation, with Liberty and Justice for All,” painted in white letters on the darker stripes.
Many famous killers liked to paint. Gacy, Manson, Hitler....

The Smithsonian Wants Trayvon's Hoodie

The Smithsonian has expressed an interest in acquiring the hoodie worn by Trayvon Martin on the night he was murdered.
Lonnie Bunch, director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture told The Washington Post Martin's hoodie represents an to further the discussion about race in America. “It became the symbolic way to talk the Trayvon Martin case. It’s rare that you get one artifact that really becomes the symbol,” Bunch told the newspaper. “Because it’s such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama.” Bunch, who has acquired a guard tower from Louisiana’s Angola State Penitentiary and the handcuffs used to restrain Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. in 2009, said he'd like to have the hoodie for his collection once the legal case is over.
All of the physical evidence in the case is being held while the Justice Department mulls a possible civil rights case against George Zimmerman.

FLORIDA: Broward Sheriff's Office Issues Plea For Peace After Zimmerman Verdict

The Broward County Sheriff's Office has posted a rap video in which young people plea for peace, whatever the verdict may be in the Zimmerman trial.  Right wing sites have long predicted riots should Zimmerman be acquitted.  Breitbart has posted a transcript:
The video, titled “Raise Your Voice, Not Your Hands,” focuses on attempting to channel reaction into non-violent response. It depicts two youngsters, one black teenage boy, one Hispanic teenage girl. “Raise your voice!” says the girl. “And not your hands!” says the boy. “We need to stand together as one, no cuffs, no guns,” says the girl. “Let’s give violence a rest, because we can easily end up arrested,” says the boy. “I know your patience will be tested,” says the girl, and then both conclude, “but law enforcement has your back!” “Let’s back up and choose not to act up, and deputies are with us, so no need to act up,” says the boy. “Let it roll off your shoulders,” says the girl, “it’s water off your back, don’t lack composure, because in one instant it could be over.” Both conclude: “So let’s make the choice to raise your voice and not your hands.” Sheriff Scott Israel says, “I’m Sheriff Scott Israel, and law enforcement does have your back.”
UPDATE: JMG reader Matt found the clip on YouTube.

RELATED: The trial is taking place in Sanford, which is north of Orlando. Broward County is in south Florida, which saw widespread rioting in 1989 after a Hispanic cop in Miami shot a black man off of his speeding motorcycle. The motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was seriously injured.
