FLORIDA: George Zimmerman Shot In The Face During Alleged Road Rage Incident

Via Orlando's NBC affiliate:
George Zimmerman was involved in a shooting incident in Lake Mary on Monday afternoon, according to Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell. The shooting involved two men and happened on Lake Mary Boulevard about 12:45 p.m., police said. Officers at the scene said it appeared Zimmerman suffered a minor gunshot wound, Bracknell said. “He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” said witness Ricardo Berrare. Chopper 2 video showed a bullet hole in the passenger window the vehicle Zimmerman was in. Bracknell said the shooting may have been related to an "ongoing dispute" involving Zimmerman and another person. In January, Zimmerman was accused of assault by his girlfriend, but no charges were filed after she recanted her allegation. He was also arrested in November 2013 on domestic violence allegations after his girlfriend called police. His girlfriend later recanted her story and charges were never filed. Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in 2013.
Totally another set-up, right?

VIRGINIA: The Cooch Is Selling Legal Insurance In Case You Shoot Somebody

Former Virginia Attorney General and failed gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli is selling retainers for his legal services just in case you happen to shoot somebody.
“A legal retainer with Virginia Self Defense Law costs as little as $8.33 a month — less than half the cost of a hunting license,” the firm’s Web site says. “Don’t be a victim! Don’t let these realities become your family’s fiscal nightmare!” For that price, the firm promises to defend clients facing firearms charges stemming from an act of self defense and those who have been “harassed by law enforcement for lawfully carrying their weapon.” The firm’s Web site links to news stories about cases in which gun owners were charged with crimes, under headlines such as “Man arrested in front of his son for ‘rudely displaying weapon’ ” and “Burglar’s family awarded $300,000 in wrongful death suit.” One of the stories featured is about the legal bills racked up by George Zimmerman, the Florida man acquitted in July in the shooting death of an unarmed teenager.
Pricing varies if you are an NRA member or a police officer.

George Zimmerman, Celebrity Boxer

TMZ has the details:
Now's your chance to kick George Zimmerman's ass with zero legal repercussions -- he just agreed to a celebrity boxing match ... and he says he'll fight ANYONE ... even black people. Celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman threw down the challenge, offering George money to step in the ring. Now here's the kicker ... the opponent has NOT been selected. We're told George is open to fighting a black person, but the promoter is not discriminating, telling us "We're not looking at it as a race thing ... We haven't discussed purple, yellow, white, black." Lately George has been more interested in boxing than guns ... regularly training in the ring.
Zimmerman will reportedly donated his cut to charity.

Bidding On Painting By George Zimmerman Nears $100,000 On eBay

Raw Story reports:
After beating the rap on murder charges and a pair of domestic violence cases, George Zimmerman has turned to art. The Florida man is selling his first-ever painted work on eBay and has already attracted nearly 100 bids – and just short of $100,000 – in an auction that ends early Monday morning. Zimmerman’s brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., confirmed the auction is legitimate and the artwork is authentic. The 18-inch-by-24-inch canvas shows a rippling American flag in close-up, painted in light and dark blue hues, with the words “God, One Nation, with Liberty and Justice for All,” painted in white letters on the darker stripes.
Many famous killers liked to paint. Gacy, Manson, Hitler....

The Smithsonian Wants Trayvon's Hoodie

The Smithsonian has expressed an interest in acquiring the hoodie worn by Trayvon Martin on the night he was murdered.
Lonnie Bunch, director of the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture told The Washington Post Martin's hoodie represents an to further the discussion about race in America. “It became the symbolic way to talk the Trayvon Martin case. It’s rare that you get one artifact that really becomes the symbol,” Bunch told the newspaper. “Because it’s such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama.” Bunch, who has acquired a guard tower from Louisiana’s Angola State Penitentiary and the handcuffs used to restrain Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. in 2009, said he'd like to have the hoodie for his collection once the legal case is over.
All of the physical evidence in the case is being held while the Justice Department mulls a possible civil rights case against George Zimmerman.

Hillary Clinton On Zimmerman Verdict

"My prayers are with the Martin family and with every family who loves someone who is lost to violence. No mother, no father, should ever have to fear for their child walking down a street in the United States of America. Yesterday I know you heard from the attorney general about the next steps from the Justice Department and the need for a national dialogue. As we move forward as we must, I hope this sisterhood will continue to be a force for justice and understanding." - Hillary Clinton, speaking yesterday to an African-American sorority group in Washington, DC.

LGBT Groups Denounce Zimmerman Verdict: Trayvon Deserves Justice

A coalition of 35 national LGBT rights groups have issued a joint denouncement of the Zimmerman verdict. Via press release:
An Open Letter: Trayvon Deserves Justice

We cannot begin to imagine the continued pain and suffering endured by Trayvon Martin's family and friends. We stand in solidarity with them as they continue to fight for justice, civil rights and closure. And we thank everyone who has pushed and will continue to push for justice.

Trayvon Martin deserves justice and his civil rights. We support the organizations and community leaders who are urging the federal government to explore every option to ensure that justice is served for Trayvon and that his civil rights are honored and respected. But our work does not end there: we will honor Trayvon Martin by strengthening our commitment to end bias, hatred, profiling and violence across our communities.

We represent organizations with diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender constituencies. Our community has been targets of bigotry, bias, profiling and violence. We have experienced the heart-breaking despair of young people targeted for who they are, who they are presumed to be, or who they love: Rashawn Brazell, Lawrence King, Ali Forney, Brandon Teena, Brandon White, Matthew Shepard, Marco McMillian, Angie Zapata, Sakia Gunn, Gwen Araujo and countless others.

Every person, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity, must be able to walk the streets without fear for their safety. Justice delayed is justice denied and in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "a right delayed is a right denied." We honor Trayvon by seeking justice for all people.
The letter is signed by:
