Fox News Rants About Obama's N-Word

"If he talks like that in public — I can only imagine what he says in private. It does not appear that the president’s remarks were off-the-cuff. It was disappointing to say the least to hear such a vulgarity come out of the mouth of the leader of the free world. But there you have it folks – this is man who was supposed to usher in the post-racial America. This is the man who was supposed to unite, not divide. What President Obama said is indefensible. Obama Uses N-Word In Racism Interview

CNN reports:

President Barack Obama used the n-word to make a point about the reality of racism in America during an interview released Monday with comedian Marc Maron. Obama weighed in for the podcast "WTF with Marc Maron" on the national debate on race relations and gun control that has been reignited after the Charleston shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Obama said that progress on race relations has been made, citing his own experience as a young man who was born to a white mother and an African father. "I always tell young people, in particular, do not say that nothing has changed when it comes to race in America, unless you've lived through being a black man in the 1950s or '60s or '70s. It is incontrovertible that race relations have improved significantly during my lifetime and yours," Obama said. But he added that "the legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination" exists in institutions and casts "a long shadow and that's still part of our DNA that's passed on."

They first tackled the n-word, with Don Lemon saying “you shouldn’t use that word like a pronoun” and Charles Blow admitting his conflicting feelings on the use of that particular word, even when used among young black youths. Lemon pointed out that it’s not just black youths, but also young white people who feel it’s okay to use that word. As for Baldwin, HuffPost’s Noah Michaelson argued Baldwin’s not necessarily homophobic, but then questioned why Baldwin’s mind automatically jumps to that word when he’s trying to insult someone. Morgan admitted in the second segment he wasn’t aware that “cocksucking” was an anti-gay phrase to begin with. He asked why gay men would want to use a phrase that’s been used to denigrate them. Michaelson said it’s about “reclaiming language,” while Lemon admitted that the word does not offend him because “if that’s the first and last thing that you can reach, then I’ve already won the argument.”
