NOM's Boycott Of Target Is Flopping Even Worse Than All Their Other Boycotts

A laughably measly 2583 people have signed NOM's boycott petition for Target since the retail giant submitted pro-gay marriage briefs last week in the states of Wisconsin and Indiana. NOM's 30-month-old boycott petition for Starbucks has yielded 68,745 names - a number that has scarcely budged in the last two years. Their 25-month-old boycott petition for General Mills petered out in the fall of 2012 and the current total of 27,612 names is only a couple of hundred more than a year ago. And of course, the more recent boycott petition for trillion-dollar international banking behemoth JP Morgan Chase remains stalled with barely more than 7000 names. Are you seeing the trend here?

NOM: Chase Bank Doesn't Give A Shit About What Anti-Gay Hate Groups Think

Brian Brown would like you to know that a whopping 5000 actual human type people have signed NOM's wildly viral boycott campaign against JPMorgan Chase. And therefore it's fucking bewildering that a multi-trillion dollar corporation with operations in dozens of nations hasn't suspended international trading to return his foot-stompy calls.
It's been nearly a week since we announced our boycott and petition against JP Morgan Chase. Since then, over five thousand activists have signed up at www.VoidChase.com to demand answers and an apology from the bank for the invasive and inappropriate survey issued to employees that sought to discover whether they were in step with the bank's pro-LGBT agenda. But we still have not gotten any response from the bank about how this information was handled and what it could be used to accomplish. Nor has the bank's leadership owned up to the wrongness of their actions and issued a necessary apology to their employees and customers.

So I need you to take action today, if you haven't already done so, and join the VoidChase movement! Visit www.VoidChase.com right away and sign your name to this important cause. You may have read that yesterday President Obama signed an executive action ostensibly aimed at preventing workplace discrimination against LGBT persons, but which could in reality be used as a weapon to punish and harass individuals and groups who support marriage as the union of one man and one woman. In the context of such action by our government, it is more important than ever that we let corporate America know that thought-policing in the workplace and the enforcement of political agendas through discrimination against pro-family employees is unacceptable.
I like to imagine that the boards of Chase, Starbucks, and General Mills have shared a snickering group conference call. That's how my SNL skit would play.

NOM: Boycott Chase Bank

"Dear Joe, This is the smoking gun. NOM has obtained new evidence that shows Chase bank not only violated its employees' privacy with invasive and inappropriate questions on an employee survey aimed at pushing an LGBT agenda, but that the company has lied to consumers and its own employees about the now infamous questions. Today, NOM is launching an international petition and boycott at www.VoidChase.com to send the message that this kind of invasiveness and dishonesty is unacceptable and will not go unchallenged. I urge you to read on to get the facts for yourself, and then head over to www.VoidChase.com to join this important effort.

"The news about this survey has already been reported far and wide. But after NOM called on our members to contact Chase and demand answers about the invasive question to employees about whether they were 'allies of the LGBT community'—and answers about how this information was to be used—the bank's leadership went on defense. Several of you forwarded me responses received from Patricia A. Wexler, a Chase spokesperson, who said that, 'The news report is not correct. These surveys are anonymous and voluntary.' Another Chase spokesperson, Jaclyn D'Aversa, reiterated to the Heritage Foundation's Daily Signal that the survey was 'completely voluntary and anonymous.'

"That the survey was administered, and contained the offensive question, is simply beyond doubt. This screenshot, published Friday by Breitbart News, has finally laid all such questions to rest—even though, as the Breitbart piece notes, several liberal media elites had been claiming that the survey didn't even exist. We must spread this story far and wide. Many of you have been following this story, but many more still need to know about it so that they can join in action with others from around the globe in this historic protest. JP Morgan Chase is the largest bank in America, with assets over $2.4 trillion — they should be busy with the business of banking, not thought-policing and harassing their employees and lying to the public. They must be held accountable." - Hate group leader Brian Brown, via email. Hit the link for a similar version of the above on NOM's blog.

LGBT Groups Score In Chase Bank's Holiday Giving Contest

After Queerty raised the alarm that NOM was on the list of charities for Chase Bank's holiday giving contest, Chase promptly booted them from the competition. Today Chase released the names of the 100-most vote-getting charities, all of whom will receive a $25,000 grant. And woo hoo, there's some LGBT groups on the list: GLSEN, Matthew Shepard Foundation, and The Trevor Project. On January 15th, each of the finalists will submit a "Big Idea" to Chase, after which they'll compete for the $1M grand prize. I'll be back then with links to support the LGBT finalists.

NOM Booted From Chase Contest

Chase Bank has decided that NOM is ineligible for its $5M holiday charity contest, due to the organization's blatant anti-gay bigotry.
A Chase spokesman asserted late Thursday that the antigay group headed by Maggie Gallagher is not eligible for charitable funds — even if it garnered sufficient votes — because it violates the contest's nondiscrimination rules. The database of groups was generated by GuideStar, a third-party firm that provides research on nonprofit groups. “Organizations that receive votes from the guidestar database will be reviewed to make sure that they’re in the compliance with all of our guidelines,” Joe Evangelisti, head of media relations for JP Morgan Chase, told The Advocate.
Credit goes to Queerty, who first raised the issue, and of course to all of you folks who wrote Chase to complain. Well done, all.

NOM Included For Chase Bank's Charity Donations Contest

Chase Bank is running a holiday contest on Facebook in which readers can vote for which charities should get a chunk of Chase's $5M donation fund. Among the list of anti-gay (and gay-friendly) groups is NOM. Queerty notes that the drop-down menu of charities probably came from a "standard non-profit database provider, without much editing on Chase's part." But also pointed out is that NOM violates Chase's own policy that groups that discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation (among other things) are not eligible for the contest. Click over to Facebook and help keep the haters out of the dough. You can also email Chase to request that they review the charities that they have on their list: chasecommunitygiving.inquiry@chase.com.
