LA Gay Men's Chorus - Spider-Pig

Friday night The Simpsons celebrated its 25th anniversary with a concert of the show's most famous musical numbers at the Hollywood Bowl. The Los Angeles Gay Men's Chorus performed Spider-Pig from The Simpsons Movie and the Emmy-nominated We Do (The Stonecutters' Song) from the classic 1995 episode, Homer The Great.

Fargo Gets A Gay Men's Chorus

For a lot of people here, Sunday mornings mean church. For a group of about 15 area men, Sunday evenings mean going back to church – to First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fargo for weekly rehearsals of the new Fargo-Moorhead Gay Men’s Chorus. “Gay men have been singing forever,” chuckles Jon Landre, the director of the chorus. “Consider this. If all gay men were immediately visible, if we pulled out of all the choral programs in the churches, do you know how dead those programs would be?” The chorus started just a few months ago and hasn’t performed in public yet. So it’s in the same state as the first gay men’s chorus was when it got its start in 1978 in San Francisco.

The group is considering putting on a holiday concert.

Monday, May 20th at 5:30 p.m. beginning at the Center, 208 W 13th Street, and proceeding to West 8th Street and 6th Avenue. Following a string of heinous bias attacks against gay men, including the murder of a 32 year old man on Friday night, community members, elected officials, LGBT community leaders and allies will march to the site of Friday's shooting to demand an end to hate crimes against the LGBT community. At the end of the march, we will rally to denounce hate violence, call for justice and to mourn the death of Marc Carson. Please join the Center, the NYC Anti-Violence Project, Speaker Quinn, community leaders and elected officials to reclaim our city for all New Yorkers.

BRITAIN: £1M Record Deal For Gay Chorus

Britain's Brighton and Hove Gay Men's Chorus has inked an unprecedented £1M deal with Universal Records.

The 30-strong Brighton & Hove Gay Men's Chorus will release its debut album later this year after signing a deal, said to be worth around £1 million. The choir is working on its repertoire of alternative rock songs in an effort to get away from cliched gay anthems. The deal with Universal Records - also home to U2 - is thought to be the first major label contract for a gay men's choir. Also among their repertoire are songs by David Bowie, Ian McCulloch of Echo And The Bunnymen and The Enemy.

The group's first album will be released in the UK in October.

NYC Pride held its annual Rally at Central Park's SummerStage yesterday where co-hosts Bruce Villanch and Vickie Shaw entertained the crowd in between performances by the Gay Men's Chorus, MeShell Ndegeocello, Ari Gold, Billie Myers, the cast of Hair, and Martha Wash. Also featured was Lt. Dan Choi, who delivered a rousing MLK-esque speech, leading the crowd in chants of "I am somebody!" Father Tony, Dr. Jeff and I ran around backstage dishing and cutting up with the performers. A fantastic afternoon. Lots of cuteness within, plus Billie Myers teaching Dr. Jeff about the proper application of lip-liner.
