At NYC's Drag March
Complete with a Judy Garland singalong. Photos here. It fascinates me how the Occupy-ish this was.

Impromptu Donna Summer Tribute
West Side Rag reports: "At a street fair on Amsterdam Avenue today, two men broke out in an amazing dance in front of the former Blue Donkey Bar on 83rd Street to the song “MacArthur Park” by Donna Summer, who passed away last week."
Father Tony weighs in: "Not so many years ago, two men would be arrested for doing this, even privately. Today, and here on the Upper West Side, the men watching cheered and women did not shield the eyes of their children. You'll love the move at the 1 minute mark!"

PHOENIX: Flash Mob Performs Against Hateful Christian Preachers At Gay Pride
Christian preachers with bullhorns berated passing Phoenix Pride attendees on Saturday, calling them "dogs, whores, perverts, hags" and worse. Talk about an all-day advertisement for atheism! Enter performer Queen B, her flash mob, and Lady Gaga's Born This Way.NOTE: Leading the preachers was Ruben Israel, whose "Official Street Preachers" website I mentioned here last week. Fundraising Goal Met In Two Hours
In a little more than two hours, we've raised $5000 to meet the funeral expenses of Tennessee student Jacob Rogers, who committed suicide yesterday after relentless anti-gay bullying. I've removed the donation link from the earlier post. Thank you SO much to all of the JMG, Towleroad, and Stranger readers who kicked in.Labels: I Love My People

Evening View - Lunar Eclipse
Somehow I managed to stay awake for last night's lunar/solstice eclipse and crept up to the sundeck of the Island House for some photos. At first I was the only one up there, but I was shortly joined by patrons who'd set their alarms and the event turned into quite a charming and chatty collection of camera-toting gay men from around the world. Two highlights: the very tall and probably normally forbidding-looking man who played the Star Wars death march and Total Eclipse Of The Heart over his phone speakers, and the hilarious modeling agency rep Jose C. from Manhattan who turned out to be a rather devoted JMG reader. Totally a great way to close out our final night in Key West.Labels: astronomy, I Love My People, Key West

Earth Wind & Fire Reunite At DC Metro
Actually it's the Black Israelites with their usual dreary anti-gay hate speech. But this clip is amusing for the fierce queens who WILL NOT STOP VOGUEING in their faces. Werq!
