Christian Morality Group: Harvard's Sex Week Promotes Violence Against Women

The Christian group Morality In Media is ever so pissed about Harvard's Sex Week, which is a student-sponsored sex education series of seminars currently underway. Via Charisma News:
"With the rise of sexual assault on college campuses one might think that the smart folks at Harvard would avoid promoting porn and violent sexual practices because these are at the root of sexual assault," said Dawn Hawkins, executive director of Morality in Media. "Yet, Harvard, like all schools conducting sex week events, can't see the forest for the trees and is promoting sexual violence while pretending to teach proper sex," she added. One particular workshop includes instruction on how to perform anal sex, which is portrayed in most popular porn videos today despite the long list of dangers associated with such activity. Another workshop encourages students to engage in violent, torture sex and gives them lessons on how to do it. "Harvard is clearly not serious about stopping rape and sexual harassment on their campus if they are promoting an environment where porn, torture sex and risky behaviors are encouraged," Hawkins said.
That didn't take long.

Strange Turn In Harvard Urine Case

Yesterday it was reported that dozens of books in the LGBT section of a Harvard library were destroyed by a vandal who soaked the books in human urine. Today Harvard police say the incident was an accident and not an anti-gay act. Somehow that bottle of piss just happened to be there on that shelf of gay books and got knocked over.
Upon an investigation by HUPD, it was revealed Monday morning that "our own library personnel" had accidentally spilled a bottle, containing what was reported to be urine, that had been found on the shelf, according to Hammonds. Harvard College Library plans to replace all 36 damaged books as soon as possible, she added. "I believe this is an important new fact in the investigation and warrants my sharing it with you immediately. While we should not minimize the seriousness of this incident, HUPD is no longer classifying this incident as a hate crime," Hammonds wrote in her statement.
Some people aren't buying the story. One student leader says, "On the one hand, I feel relieved by the news—but on the other hand, I’m still holding breath on questions that are still unresolved. Why was there a bottle of urine on the shelf? Why did it take two weeks for library or HUPD to figure out that this was just an accident? Did someone suddenly come forward?"

LGBT Book Section Vandalized At Harvard

Harvard police say a section of LGBT books were destroyed in the university library by a vandal who doused the shelves with urine.
Security staff at Lamont Library said in a report filed with campus police on Friday that it appeared someone poured urine on the books on Nov. 24. An empty bottle was found nearby. A police spokesman tells The Crimson student newspaper that all the books were about lesbian, gay and same-sex marriage issues. Library spokeswoman Beth Brainard says it took so long to report the incident because staff wanted to assess the value of the books. She says they were worth several thousand dollars and will be discarded.
And this accomplished, what?

Yale Drops "Sissy" Shirts

To stoke up student fervor for their annual football game with arch rival Harvard, Yale students voted to sell a t-shirt using a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald: "I think of all Harvard men as sissies." On the back, the students added: "WE AGREE." But after complaints from a campus LGBT group, the shirt has been dropped.
The LGBT Co-op first heard about the T-shirts from a member of the Yale College Council, LGBT Co-op Coordinator Rachel Schiff ’10 said. She followed suit by contacting the dean and master of her college — Silliman — to encourage dialogue among the Co-op, administrators and FCC. Ou said Wednesday that he first heard about the winning T-shirt design when FCC brought the complaints to him. In response, he told the FCC chairs to meet with the concerned students face to face. Shortly after he told FCC to respond to the co-op’s concerns, Ou said, he told Yale College Dean Mary Miller about the issue, and she decided to pull the design. “What purports to be humor by targeting a group through slurs is not acceptable,” Miller said in an e-mail to the News. Still, FCC representatives had concluded they would not make their final decision until they met with the co-op. “Independently of Dean Miller’s decision, our primary concern was that no one was hurt, offended or felt uncomfortable with ourT-shirts,” Levin said. After that discussion, he said, representatives decided to withdraw that design and opt for a different one, featuring a white ‘H’ in the front inside a transluscent white circle, with a white line slashed through it.
Freepers react:

-"F. Scott Fitzgerald called them sissies because had he called them faggots he would have had to have gone to re-education camp."
-"How about a shirt that says “I think queers are filthy and disease ridden”......"
-"These kids need to learn that the queers and weirdos among us wake up in the morning looking to be offended. They know they're perverted, and live life feeling guilty, as they should."
