NOM To Join Red-Caped Catholic Loons For Anti-Gay White House Rosary Rally

Next month the red-caped Catholic loons of Tradition, Family & Property will stage a mass anti-gay praying of the rosary outside the White House and Brian Brown invites you to join in:
Join the National Organization for Marriage as we gather in front of the White House to pray the Rosary on August 15th from 10am-12pm. The purpose of this event is to give witness to the nation the glory of God's plan for marriage through prayer, fasting & sacrifice. Our goal is to have at least 500 men (and women) gathered in front of the White House to show our support for the belief that every child has the right to a mother and a father. Please see White House Witness for more details. We hope you can make it! The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. - Edmund Burke
Brown either doesn't know or doesn't care that Burke never said the above quote. Or that in 1780 he denounced the punishment of two men accused of sodomy. Whatever! Get out your beads! Bonus: Alan Keyes will be there.

One Million Views For Catholic Vote

Poster by Scott Wooledge. His review at Memeographs:
The auteurs at Catholic Vote have created an instant classic Christian cinematic masterpiece to rival Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas. Not since National Organization for Marriage’s “Gathering Storm” of 2008 have we seen delusional hyperbole, paranoia and self-pity lifted to such delirious heights. Like an episode of The Bachelor or a Lindsey Lohan court appearance, Not Alone is both terrifying and impossible to look away from. This important piece of filmmaking will surely inspire countless imitators, but Not Alone is so earnest in its own clueless, privileged insensitivity that parody may be superfluous (see Poe’s Law). Still, I look forward to seeing what influence this motion picture exerts on Stephen Colbert and the creative staff at The Daily Show, Funny or Die and Saturday Night Live.
Catholic Vote is very upset about the reactions.

NOM Chairman John Eastman: I Hope That Uganda Reinstates The Life Sentence For Homosexuality "In Short Order"

"Contrary to the way it was reported here in the United States, it provided life imprisonment for aggravated homosexuality, that is homosexual acts committed by somebody infected with HIV/AIDS, who knew that by conducting that act they knew they were very likely to give that deadly disease - death sentence - to their sex partners. And homosexual acts with minors. And then prison for groups who counsel people into homosexuality. The Ugandan Supreme Court invalidated the law, but only on technical grounds that there had not been a quorum. I suspect that it's going to come back and I hope that it does come back in short order." - NOM Chairman John Eastman, speaking in an FRC video which denounces the Obama administration's "pro-homosexuality agenda" in foreign relations. Eastman fails to note that under the stricken-for-now Ugandan bill, "aggravated homosexuality" is also defined as having been arrested on those charges more than once.

Here is the clip description:
The Obama administration has engaged in an aggressive effort to force recipients of American foreign aid to accept the President’s pro-homosexuality agenda. This has gone even to the point of demanding that African nations change their laws against same-sex intimacy and those barring same-sex marriage or risk losing U.S. assistance and even American military support in fighting terrorist organizations. As with so many other areas of Mr. Obama’s priorities, this initiative pushes the statutory authority of the President past the breaking point. Join FRC and Dr. John Eastman as he examines the ways in which our foreign policy has promoted a radical agenda on marriage and sexuality and what can be done to change it.
Eastman's comments on Uganda begin at 38:00.

Catholic Vote: 40 Days Of Marriage Prayer

Posted several days ago by Catholic Vote:
The Supreme Court is deliberating right now whether or not there is a constitutional right to same-sex ‘marriage.’ This ruling could impact children, the family, and the future of America for generations to come. The court is expected to announce its ruling by the last day of June, which is precisely 40 days from tomorrow. In preparation, CV has launched a national prayer campaign starting tomorrow. We’re calling it 40 Days of Prayer for Marriage and it will go from May 22 to June 30.

There are any number of ways to participate in this 40 Days of Prayer for Marriage: Offer specific sacrifices or do something generous, however small, for your spouse and children; offer this up for the cause of marriage (your marriage and family life will benefit too!). Fast on Fridays, which is still the normal practice of the Church — specifically for the cause of marriage. Pray the rosary for marriage, as we recommended last month, or perhaps you could pray nine rosaries during these 40 days — one rosary for each of the nine justices on the Supreme Court. Organize a Holy Hour for marriage in your parish. Simply pray a Hail Mary each day for this special intention.
In a separate Catholic Vote post, former NOM staffer Thomas Peters writes today:
Ireland just voted to redefine marriage (I will comment on this calamity soon). But we Americans have to respond first to what is happening and is about to happen in our own country. Catholics who wish to remain faithful to their baptismal vows and continue to remain Catholic must support marriage as God created it, Christ proclaimed it, and the Church has always defined it. Belief in marriage as the union of one man and one woman is not optional for Catholics. That means, for Catholics, our spiritual lives are in jeopardy if we deny marriage publicly. Which in turn means when powerful individuals, government officials and agents of the law force us to deny marriage “or else”, they are saying our Catholic lives don’t matter.

In Roman times, Christians knew they could not offer incense at the altar of false gods. In Reformation England, Saints Thomas More and John Fisher knew they could not say Henry VIII was validly married to Anne Boleyn. In both of these historical examples, elected officials cared more about enforcing the orthodoxy of the state than the lives of the Catholics under their thumb. So I think we need to start asking those in power who now claim it is illegitimate for Catholics to adhere to our beliefs about marriage, do they think Catholic lives matter?

IRELAND: Haters Are Pissed At Twitter

Via Bloomberg:
When Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny rallied support for gay marriage ahead of a referendum this month, he got a little more than the usual help from Twitter Inc. As well as disseminating the message through its social media, the company is backing the “yes” campaign, which is leading the polls before the May 22 vote. It says allowing wedlock for two people of the same sex is good for the economy. Other public declarations of support have come from Google Inc. and EBay Inc., which also have European headquarters in Ireland. The Iona Institute, which is leading the campaign against the proposal just over 20 years since the state decriminalized gay sex, told Twitter to stay out of domestic political matters, attacking the company’s argument. “Twitter’s clear implication is that if we vote no it will be bad for business and bad for our international reputation,” said Ben Conroy, a spokesman for the Iona Institute, whose stated mission is to promote marriage and religion in society. “The most powerful economy in Europe, Germany, does not have same-sex marriage, so the idea that voting no would be bad for business is clearly ridiculous.”
Twitter staffers have been canvassing door to door and raising money for Yes Equality.

Brian Brown: A Fresh Breeze Is Blowing

From today's money beg:
We have an incredible amount of work to do in the next two months... preparing for the pending decision by the Supreme Court; launching a nationwide effort to pass legislation to protect people from having to participate in same-sex 'weddings' in states that have redefined marriage (or in the event that the Supreme Court redefines marriage in every state); preparing a new grassroots educational effort we have been developing to help teach people the importance of marriage to society and especially children; pushing a federal constitutional amendment to preserve marriage; working with allies in support of religious liberty legislation; and preparing to make support for marriage a key factor in next year's presidential race.

As I have always said, no politician or judge — not even the US Supreme Court — has the power to redefine marriage. Marriage was created by God at the dawn of Creation to bring the two halves of humanity together for their benefit and to provide the ideal environment for any children born of their union. Marriage is a universal truth and if the marriage movement experiences a Roe type of ruling, then just like the pro-life movement we will pursue the long path to reversing such a ruling. Win or lose before the Supreme Court, we will always fight for marriage. But clearly and unmistakably, we have a chance to win before the Supreme Court and the next two months could make all the difference.
Since everything is pretty much finished except for the waiting, this money beg will obviously help fund NOM's attempt to thwart LGBT rights overseas.

Maggie Gallagher: I Can't Support Sin By Attending A Same-Sex Wedding

In response to recent gay wedding questions posed to Sen. Marco Rubio and other GOP candidates, Maggie Gallagher has penned an open letter to a gay friend which we're sure totally exists. Via the National Review:
The problem for me in celebrating your gay wedding, as much as I love you, is that I would be witnessing and celebrating your attempt not only to commit yourself to a relationship that keeps you from God’s plan but, worse, I would be witnessing and celebrating your attempt to hold the man you love to a vow that he will avoid God’s plan. To vow oneself to sin is one thing, to try to hold someone you love to it — that’s not something I can celebrate. And I would be party to the idea that two men can make a marriage, which I do not believe. On your happy day you should be surrounded by people who can honor your vow and help you keep it. I can’t do that. 'Porneia' is a word in the Bible that has been much mistranslated. But I think it means a sexual relationship that cannot by its nature become a marriage. That’s why Christ said that marriage is forever, unless it is porneia. I understand that you might well want to rupture our friendship over this, my honest view. I choose to love you both and keep you in my life. But let us somehow against all odds find a way to love each other as we are, and not how each of us would wish the other to be.
From Wikipedia: "The Greek term porneia (πορνεία) which means 'illicit sexual intercourse' was translated as 'fornication' in the 1611 King James Version of the bible and has also been translated as 'whoredom'."

Matt Baume On St. Patrick's Day Parades

Clip recap: "Why does it matter whether or not gays are allowed to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade? Don't they have enough parades of their own? Let's talk about why gays and parades are such a big deal -- and why this year's parade is such an important change of pace from the 110 years that came before."

BOSTON: LGBT Groups March For First Time In St. Patrick's Day Parade

Via the Boston Globe:
History marched through South Boston on Sunday as gay organizations took their place for the first time in the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. Joining them in front of hundreds of thousands of green-clad revelers was Mayor Martin J. Walsh, the first Boston chief executive to walk the route in two decades. “I’m very excited,” Walsh said just before stepping off under a light, cold rain. “We can finally move beyond the issue of inclusiveness.”

Walsh, who tried unsuccessfully in 2014 to negotiate the inclusion of a gay rights group, announced last week that he would walk the snow-shortened route from the Broadway MBTA station to Pleasure Bay because organizers had invited OUTVETS, which includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender veterans.

The former mayor, Thomas M. Menino, had consistently boycotted the parade because its organizers from the South Boston Allied War Veterans, backed by a US Supreme Court ruling, refused to allow gay groups to participate. But on Sunday, politicians were a major, can’t-miss part of the festivities. Governor Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito were among them.

Catholic Group: Ban Every Business Leader And Company Who Signed SCOTUS Brief From Working With Any Catholic School

From the Cardinal Newman Society:
On March 5, 2015, 379 corporations and business groups submitted an amicus brief in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges, urging the U.S. Supreme Court to declare "marriage rights" for same-sex persons. Such a ruling would be contrary to constitutional, civil, natural and divine law and conflicts directly with Catholic teaching and the position of the U.S. Catholic bishops. The Cardinal Newman Society therefore urges Catholic schools, colleges and universities to refrain from all honors - including public recognition, honorary speaking platforms, and honored positions on boards and committees — for board members and senior leaders of these 379 corporations and business groups.

Whether or not same-sex unions are legally permitted, they are intrinsically immoral and contrary to human nature. Hoping to relieve their own perceived "economic burden," the amici ignore the plight of businesses and religious organizations that operate according to Catholic beliefs; these should be exempted from recognizing same-sex unions in employment and health care decisions. To ignore religious freedom is to disregard a fundamental principle upon which this nation was founded, thereby endangering Catholic education and other religious services and activities.
The Cardinal Newman Society was founded in 1993 by the former editor of Fordham University's newspaper, who was pissed that his school recognized an LGBT student group. Among its board of directors are wingnut commentator Brent Bozell, who in 2011 appeared on Fox News where he called President Obama a "skinny ghetto crackhead."

LGBT Catholics Speak Out

From the Owning Our Faith site:
The goals of this project are to foster dialogue about and encourage greater inclusion and acceptance of LGBT people in the Church. In October 2014, Pope Francis convened a synod of bishops to discuss issues of the family within the Catholic Church, including the topic of homosexuality. The Pope has encouraged ongoing conversation on these topics in preparation for the Ordinary Synod on the Family, set to take place in October 2015. We want our stories to be a part of the discussion because LGBT people have unique gifts to contribute to the life of the Church. We hope the Church recognizes that God is working through our life stories. We want to inspire change that will strengthen families, encourage acceptance of LGBT people, foster an inclusive community, and promote an open and accepting dialogue among Catholics across the world. Most of all, we want everyone to know they are loved and not alone.

NOM Exploits MLK For Money Beg

"In 1963, something happened that changed the civil rights movement. For the first time, six major organizations working on civil rights issues came together to support what they called the 'March on Washington' to demand the passage of pivotal civil rights legislation. My friends, it's 1963 in the fight for marriage. And it is time we march. I can't promise you that we will have a historic speech like Dr. King's 'I have a dream' speech, nor can I promise you 250,000 people will come to Washington, but I can promise you this: we will march for a true and just cause, for the civil right of Americans to enjoy the benefits of natural marriage, the union of one man and one woman, the foundation of society and the cradle of civilization. And I can also promise that this year's march could be as important to the cause of marriage as the 1963 March on Washington was to the cause of civil rights. Please help us make this critically important march a success by giving a donation right now." - Hate group leader Brian Brown, in his seventh money beg in ten days.

REPORT: Mayor Bill De Blasio To Boycott New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade

Via Irish Central:
It appears New York Mayor Bill de Blasio will again boycott this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade on Fifth Avenue because of the lack of an Irish gay group in the line of march, multiple sources have told the Irish Voice. A non-Irish gay group from NBC, OUT@NBCUniversal, will march. On Tuesday, City Council Member Daniel Dromm of Queens confirmed to the Irish Voice that a majority of council members, including Speaker Melissa Mark Viverito, will not take part in the parade. The council formally boycotted and withdrew its banner from last year’s march in protest, and plans on doing the same for 2015, Dromm confirmed. “I won’t march until an Irish gay group can march,” Dromm told the Irish Voice. “And there will be no council banner in this year’s parade – of course there won’t,” he added. The decision by the parade committee to allow a gay group to march next month for the first time – OUT@NBCUniversal – came about for corporate reasons only, Dromm said. “It’s not acceptable to us,” Dromm added. “We’ve been struggling for 25 years to have an Irish gay group in the march and they still won’t allow us to march.”
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, this year's grand marshal, has expressed support for the inclusion of the one corporate LGBT group, earning him widespread scorn on right wing sites. When De Blasio boycotted last year, Bill Donohue was thrilled.

NOM Announces 2015 Hate March

Because the first two were such roaring successes.
With the Supreme Court's announcement a few weeks ago that they will be hearing a case this term that could decide the legal definition of marriage in America, we are now on the clock. We have just a few short months to make our case for marriage before the Court weighs in. With that in mind, we have scheduled the third annual March for Marriage in Washington, DC on April 25th, 2015. And I need your help today to make this critically important March a success. Thanks to a generous donor who understands the incredible importance of this year's March, we have a matching grant in the amount of $100,000! That means every dollar you donate today will be matched dollar-for-dollar. And all contributions are deductible for federal income-tax purposes.

Our first two Marches brought together thousands of marriage supporters in our Nation's capital to stand together for marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and the truth that every child deserves both a mother and a father. People from all across the country and all walks of life — men, women, and children; African-Americans, Latinos, and Asians; Evangelicals, Catholics and Orthodox Jews — gathered in front of both the Capitol building and the Supreme Court to make the very clear point that the battle for marriage was not over in America... it was only just beginning. Defeatism is a recipe for disaster, and exactly what the gay ‘marriage' lobby's carefully crafted strategic plan is designed to do: convince ordinary Americans that the battle is already lost and to give up the fight.
Below is a photo of last year's hate rally, which NOM, true to compulsive lying form, claimed was attended by 10,000.

Red-Caped Catholic Loons Petition Pope Francis Against Same-Sex Marriage

From the Red-Caped Catholic Loons:
Dissident Catholic pressure groups -- aided by the liberal media -- are feverishly working to dismantle vital Church teaching on marriage and family at the next Synod on the Family in Rome. In fact, they are bombarding the Holy Father and the Synod Fathers right now with messages of revolt against traditional moral values as they clamor for "change, change, change" inside the Church. At this critical time, we must defend the truth and ask the Holy Father to protect the future of the family. TFP Student Action is joining forces with over 20 more pro-family groups around the world to collect as many signatures as possible before the next Synod starts. This prayerful petition is a worldwide effort. Everyone is invited to sign. May God reward you.
From the petition:
Holy Father, In view of the Synod on the family to be held in October 2015, we filially address Your Holiness to express our fears and hopes regarding the future of the family. Our fears arise from witnessing a decades-long sexual revolution promoted by an alliance of powerful organizations, political forces and the mass media that consistently work against the very existence of the family as the basic unit of society. Ever since the so-called May 1968 Sorbonne Revolution, a morality opposed to both Divine and natural law has been gradually and systematically imposed on us so implacably as to make it possible, for example, to teach the abhorrent "gender theory" to young children in many countries. Catholic teaching on the Sixth Commandment of the Law of God shines like a beacon in the face of this ominous ideological objective. This beacon attracts many people -- overwhelmed by this hedonistic propaganda -- to the chaste and fecund family model taught by the Gospel and in accordance with natural law.
Tradition! Family! Fecundity!
