Susan Boyle Sings For Frothy Mix

The Christmas Candle, the first film from the Christian movie studio headed by Rick Santorum, opens today. Making her acting debut in the film is Susan Boyle, and the studio just posted the below song which will appear on the movie's soundtrack.
Deep in the heart of the English countryside lies the enchanting village of Gladbury. Legend has it every 25 years an angel visits the village candlemaker and touches a single candle. Whoever lights this candle receives a miracle on Christmas Eve. But in 1890, at the dawn of the electric age, this centuries old legend may come to an end. When David Richmond (Hans Matheson), a progressive young minister, arrives in Gladbury, the villagers discover a new formula for miracles: good deeds and acts of kindness. While David's quest to modernize Gladbury sets him at odds with the old world candlemaker, he finds an unlikely ally in the lovely skeptic, Emily Barstow (Samantha Barks). Now, the fiery candlemaker must fight to preserve the legacy of the Christmas Candle. But when the candle goes missing, the miraculous and human collide in the most astonishing Christmas the village of Gladbury has ever seen.
According to one review, the movie "isn't particularly memorable or dramatic" and Boyle's performance in particular is singled-out as stiff and unemotional. Still, it is expected to do very well as churches nationwide have been targeted by an aggressive marketing campaign.

Susan Boyle Covers Lou Reed

After making her cry because he wouldn't let her perform it on America's Got Talent, Lou Reed made amends and personally directed the video of Susan Boyle's cover of his classic, Perfect Day. (Apparently it wasn't such a perfect day at the shoot, with violent Scottish weather blowing the wig off of Boyle's stand-in.) And in the same way that people think the Police's creepy ode to stalking, Every Breath You Take, is a love song, Boyle clearly missed the self-hatred and recriminations inherent in Reed's original as it's part of her coming Christmas album. But what do I know, I loved the circuit party version.

This Is Getting Silly

Look, I'll admit getting all warm and fuzzy about Susan Boyle, despite my cynicism regarding how contrived the set-up was. But when the Boyle phenomenon goes into "Two Girls, One Cup" territory, I gotta draw the line.

The New Susan Boyle

Plucked eyebrows, leather jacket, hair de-frizzed. It will be interesting to see how Susan Boyle's fame goes now that she looks like a normal middle-aged woman. Obviously, a huge portion of her skyrocket to internet view count history was driven by her previously dowdy appearance. If she looked like this when she first appeared on Britain's Got Talent, I'd wager we've have never heard of her.

Queen Of The Internet

Whether you like her or not, it's rather fascinating to watch how Susan Boyle has blown existing internet viewing records out of the water.
The Internet has not seen anything quite like Susan Boyle, whose online popularity is headed straight to the history books. The video of Boyle's performance in the reality show "Britain's Got Talent" has set the record for the number of views in a week -- and shows no sign of slowing down. According to Visible Measures, which tracks videos from YouTube, MySpace and other video-sharing sites, all Boyle-oriented videos -- including clips of her television interviews and her recently released rendition of "Cry Me a River," recorded 10 years ago for a charity CD -- have generated a total of 85.2 million views. Nearly 20 million of those views came overnight. The seven-minute video that was first posted on YouTube and then widely circulated online easily eclipsed more high-profile videos that have been around for months. Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin has clocked in 34.2 million views, said the folks at Visible Measures, while President Obama's victory speech on election night has generated 18.5 million views.
Until last week, Boyle said she had never heard of YouTube.

Crazy Cat Lady Susan Boyle Tipped To Win Britain's Got Talent Contest

It looks like Britain's Got Talent has another Paul Potts on their hands. As a crazy cat lady myself, I'm feeling you, Susan!
She lives alone with her ten-year-old cat, has never been kissed, and is teased by children in the street. But 48-year-old Susan Boyle could just be the UK's next singing sensation. Devout Catholic Miss Boyle has been at the centre of a media storm since news emerged of how she wowed Britain's Got Talent judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan with her amazing opera voice. She has now been tipped to win the hit show and the chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance later this year.
