ARIZONA: Court Rules That Thomas "Pregnant Man" Beatie Can Divorce Wife

The Arizona Court of Appeals has ruled that Thomas Beatie, who earned global headlines in 2008 as the "pregnant man," can divorce his wife.  Beatie married in Hawaii, where he was legally recognized as male.
In March 2013, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Douglas Gerlach ruled that Beatie's marriage was between two females because Beatie had given birth. Same-sex marriage is illegal in Arizona. In one of his rulings, Gerlach wrote that Beatie's "marriage was between a female ... and a person capable of giving birth, who later did so." Wednesday's ruling, however, noted that Arizona law also permits people who have had gender reassignment to alter their birth certificates and legally change gender. In fact, according to the opinion, Arizona's law on the matter is more "liberal" than Hawaii's in what evidence must be presented to amend the birth certificate. "The question before this Court is not whether the State of Arizona allows same-sex marriage or divorce, but whether the laws of the State of Arizona allow a marriage, lawfully entered into in another state, between two persons the foreign state formally recognized at the time of the marriage as male and female, to be dissolved," the appellate decision said. "At the time of the Beaties' marriage in Hawaii, that state only allowed marriages between a man and a woman, and Hawaii's legislature, like Arizona's, had established statutory authority allowing persons who had undergone a sex change operation to apply for and obtain an amended birth certificate reflecting the appropriate gender." Beatie and his wife may go ahead with divorce proceedings, according to the opinion.

$300K For Pics Of Thomas Beatie's Baby

Gawker is reporting that People Magazine paid $300K for the exclusive rights to the photos of "pregnant man" Thomas Beatie's baby girl.
No word on whether he's giving the money to charity, but doesn't Beatie kind of deserve to keep it? Bidding on Angelina Jolie's baby pictures approached $20 million, and even D-listers Nicole Richie and Jamie-Lynn Spears managed to net reported seven-figure deals for photos of their offspring. And not one of those people went to the trouble of changing her gender, retaining her reproductive organs or waddling around as the world's only pregnant man! In fact, one wonders if Beatie couldn't have gotten a better deal. Sad! But only by the (also sad) metric of fameball skills. Beatie still looks like a very happy Dad, which is rumored to be worth quite a lot in and of itself.
When's the movie coming out?

Thomas Beatie Gives Birth

World-renowned "pregnant man" Thomas Beatie gave birth today to a healthy baby girl.
The birth - at a hospital in Bend, Oregon - was natural, according to a source, who added that earlier reports that Beatie had planned a caesarean section are false. "She's really cute, really pretty,'' the source told ABC News Thursday afternoon.

Born a woman, Beatie, 34, who had his breasts surgically removed and legally changed his gender from female to male, leaped to prominence around the world in April when the wispy bearded man revealed he was pregnant. Despite years of taking hormones and living outwardly as a man, Beatie maintained that he retained his female sex organs because he intended one day to get pregnant.
Interestingly, Beatie left the hospital under his own power very shortly after the birth.
Beatie was caught on tape leaving St. Charles Medical Center by TMZ.com. He was not carrying the infant. A woman who appears to be a nurse carried a combination car seat/baby carrier with a white blanket over it. Beatie walked a few yards behind her. The new dad walked easily, although he appeared tired, and despite the warm weather he wore a white hooded sweatshirt along with sunglasses and black shorts. Someone opened the car door for him.

It's A Girl

World famous pregnant man Thomas Beattie, now in his 8th month, has revealed that he and wife are expecting a girl - and that the couple plans on having more children.
"I'm 36 weeks now and almost due but I feel fantastic. Every day Nancy and I think about how we just cannot wait to hold our daughter for the first time, to finally get to touch her and see her face. We have her nursery ready and her diapers are lined up in her bedroom. Everything is ready to go.

"We have even picked a name which we both love—although we're waiting until she is born before we tell anyone. All the people who really know us and love us, our friends and family, have been incredibly supportive.

"So much so we might even have more children. We will just see what the experience is like with our daughter's arrival first and then give it some thought."
Many more photos here, including some previously unseen photos of Beatie from when he competed for Miss Teen Hawaii prior to his transition.

Fox's Red Eye Show Goes On Grotesque Attack Against Thomas Beatie

This is completely disgusting and over the top, even for Fox News. "When he pushes that baby out, I hope it's the worst experience in his life. I hope the blood vessels pop in his eyes. I hope it is SO painful." Watch Fox New's Red Eye cast as they wish that Thomas Beatie commits suicide. There are too many disturbing epithets and horrible comments to quote.

Oprah Winfrey: Pregnant Man Is A New Definition Of Diversity

In a collaboration with People Magazine, today Oprah Winfrey hosted Thomas Beatie, the world-famous "pregnant man", showing her audience ultrasound video of the fetus growing inside him.
"It's not a male or female desire to have a child. It's a human desire," a thinly bearded Thomas Beatie said. "I have a very stable male identity," he added, saying that pregnancy neither defines him nor makes him feel feminine. Beatie, 34, who lives in Oregon, was born a woman but decided to become a man 10 years ago. He began taking testosterone treatments and had breast surgery to remove glands and flatten his chest.

"I opted not to do anything with my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day," he told the talk show host. Beatie's wife Nancy said she inseminated him with a syringe using sperm purchased from a bank. Now, he said, his size 32 jeans are getting a bit tight and his shirts are a bit stretched.

Nancy, to whom he has been married for five years and who has two grown daughters by a previous marriage, also appeared on the show, saying the couple's roles will not change once the baby is born. "He's going to be the father and I'm going to be the mother," she said. Their marriage is legal and he is recognized under state law as a man.
The doctor conducting the ultrasound pronounced the baby healthy and said Beatie's was what he would call a "normal pregnancy." Beatie stopped taking testosterone treatments about two years ago. Oprah called Beatie's pregnancy "a new definition of what diversity means for everybody."

Hopefully I'll have a video clip by tomorrow.
