Traditional Values Coalition: FRC Shooter Was Carrying Our Address When Arrested

The head of the Traditional Values Coalition, an anti-gay group that is equally as vile as the FRC, is claiming that shooter Floyd Corkins was arrested while carrying their address.
“Clearly we need added protection after this. My understanding is we were the next target,” says Andrea Lafferty of the Traditional Values Coalition. Traditional Values Coalition is located in the 100 block of C Street in southeast D.C. “It is frightening to be, to know that you are probably the next person on the list to be shot,” Lafferty says. “I am concerned for my staff.”
NPR has more on Lafferty's claim:
Traditional Values Coalition President Andrea Lafferty said FBI agents visited her group's Capitol Hill offices hours after the Wednesday morning shooting as part of their investigation. The next day, she said, members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force came by and confirmed that "our information was in his pocket," including the location of the group's offices. "I was stunned," Lafferty told The Associated Press, adding that she believes her group may have been targeted. It wasn't immediately clear if that was the case. An FBI representative could not be immediately reached for comment late Friday.
As Lafferty notes in the NPR article, her group has been on the SPLC's hate list for much longer than the FRC, which was added in 2010. Lafferty claims she's gotten no response to requests for federal protection: "Under this Justice Department, Christians are a very low priority on their lists of concerns."

The SPLC provides some background on Lafferty and the group's founder, her father Lou Sheldon.
The group has at times enjoyed remarkable access to the halls of power — during the George W. Bush Administration, Sheldon and Lafferty visited the White House a combined 69 times, meeting personally with Bush in eight of the visits. But that does not mean that it has not long had a record of extreme gay-bashing. In 1985, Sheldon suggested forcing AIDS victims into “cities of refuge.” In 1992, columnist Jimmy Breslin said that Sheldon told him that “homosexuals are dangerous. They proselytize. They come to the door, and if your son answers and nobody is there to stop it, they grab the son and run off with him. They steal him. They take him away and turn him into a homosexual.” Sheldon later denied that he made the comments, but his website today includes strikingly similar language: “[S]ince homosexuals can’t reproduce, they will simply go after your children for seduction and conversion to homosexuality.” Elsewhere, it claims that “[t]he effort to push adult/child sex … is part of the overall homosexual movement.”
Last year the Traditional Values Coalition claimed that the passage of the federal Hate Crimes Act had literally outlawed Christianity in the United States. They then sent fundraising flyers to horrified seniors and raised buckets of money on that ridiculous lie.

Today In Christian Love™

"Though victory against such an evil onslaught will never come easy, it will also never come until the church awakes from her slumber and becomes the visible expression of Jesus Christ, raised from the dead in the power of the Holy Spirit, in this fallen world. The homosexual agenda will never be defeated by mere laws. This war will only be won by a church awakened and determined to stand for the righteousness of God. It is my hope and fervent prayer that, before it's too late and the agenda of death and destruction has overcome us utterly, God's people will rise." - Traditional Values Coalition head Lou Sheldon, adding that gays are "the very face of evil."

Hate Groups React To CA History Bill

Catholics For The Common Good
Claims that this bill is needed to reduce bullying against children that are experiencing gender confusion or take on 'gay' or 'lesbian' identities are absurd. Children must be taught respect for all persons because of their intrinsic value, not because they agree with their behavior or like their characteristics. In fact, reducing people to merely a sexual identity obscures the fact that they are so much more than that.
Traditional Values Coalition
SB 48 was priority number 1 for Traditional Values Coalition. We committed all the resources we had to try to make sure that SB 48 failed. We are talking about molesting the minds of young impressionable youth, as young as Kindergarten, with an agenda and message that is not age-appropriate and that is offensive to the values of a vast majority of California’s families. We have failed at our core educational mission and yet we are now going to inject gay studies into the classrooms. It’s absurd and offensive.
Save California
It's ridiculous that Jerry Brown says he's making history 'honest'. The bill he signed prohibits teachers and textbooks from telling children the facts that homosexuality has the highest rate of HIV/AIDS and other STDs, higher cancer rates, and earlier deaths. These important facts about lifestyles children will being forced to admire will be omitted. And Brown calls this 'honest'? This revisionist history will actually make more children believe a lie -- that homosexuality is biological, which it's not, and healthy, which is isn't."

PhoboQuotable - Lou Sheldon

"Unfortunately, that matters little to homosexual activists bent on legitimizing their lifestyle at the expense of ruining our nation’s morality and killing millions along the way due to the serious health ramifications of homosexuality. The prophet Isaiah was speaking of people like this when he wrote, 'Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!' (Is. 5:20).

"Everything in the homosexual culture has been turned upside down, and the men and women who fall into this lifestyle, for whatever reasons, are subject to every sort of evil. They are dying of terrible diseases in record numbers, and still many refuse to admit or even recognize what it is that’s killing them. This is the crisis of our time. It’s the very face of evil. From the college campus to the media centers of New York and Hollywood, people who should know better are buying into an agenda that could destroy us, and they’re doing it in a big way." - Lou Sheldon, head of the SPLC-certified hate group, the Traditional Values Coalition.

Christianity Outlawed! Now Send Money!

On Wednesday the Southern Poverty Law Center alerted us to the latest campaign by the Traditional Values Coalition, which is scamming money from seniors by claiming that the 2009 Hate Crimes Act outlawed Christianity and classified the Bible as "hate literature." Today Right Wing Watch posts a photo of the TVC's fundraising letter. The Traditional Values Coalition has long been ranked as a hate group by the SPLC.

SPLC Alert: Anti-Gay Christian Group Lies In Fund-Raising Letter About Hate Crimes

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center's HateWatch column, the Traditional Values Coalition is raising money by claiming that the 2009 passage of the Matthew Shepard Act outlawed the Bible as "hate literature."
The Christian Seniors Association (CSA), a front group of the TVC, recently sent out a fundraising letter claiming that the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act (HCPA) of 2009, which added sexual orientation to the classes protected by federal hate crime legislation, “makes the Bible illegal ‘Hate Literature.’” The letter further claims that “under this law, criticism of homosexuality is deemed discrimination – just like racism,” and ultimately, the intent of the law is to “outlaw Christianity.” Scary stuff. Except that none of it is true.
The SPLC points out that the good Christians at the TVC have a long track record of shady fundraising, including one mailed campaign that pretended to be from the federal government.
The CSA – which bills itself as “America’s Christian alternative to the far-Left AARP” – has a history of fundraising letters that prey on unfounded fears and, in some cases, even mimic government documents. In 2006, the CSA mailed out bogus “U.S. Taxpayer Census” forms. The packet included a survey about Social Security and dark warnings about politicians raiding the program for personal gain. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the mailing did not explicitly point out that money donated to the CSA would go directly to the TVC.
The head of the CSA is married to Andrea Lafferty, the daughter of Lou Sheldon, who is the founder of the certified hate group, the Traditional Values Coalition. Just keeping that ill-gotten money in the family.

Quote Of The Day - Andrea Lafferty

"We can't allow the lowest common denominator states, like Massachusetts, to set standards for the country." - Andrea Lafferty of the SPLC-certified hate group, the Traditional Values Coalition, as quoted by the Associated Press. We're standing by for the AP to go to the KKK for a quote the next time black civil rights is in the news.

Quote Of The Day - Andrea Lafferty

"This charge is supposed to carry some sort of credibility among leftists, but the fact is that the Southern Poverty Law Center is long known to be a leftwing hate group that smears any organization opposed to liberalism, illegal immigration or the LGBT agenda. Suggesting the SPLC has any credibility is as absurd as quoting members of the Flat Earth Society.

"The SPLC can’t seem to locate leftist hate groups. They don’t list the Communist Party, USA, the Workers World Party, Code Pink, MoveOn.org, Daily Kos, the Huffington Post, People for the American Way or other leftist groups as spewing hatred from their web sites or from their leaders. Several of these groups openly seek the violent overthrow of our nation. The SPLC is the group that wrote a memo used by Obama’s Homeland Security Department claiming that veterans and pro-lifers were dangerous to national security Actually, it is a badge of honor for TVC to be listed by the SPLC as a 'hate group.' It proves we’re effective in challenging liberalism, socialism, and the LGBT agenda. " - Traditional Values Coalition spokesdouche Andrea Lafferty, saying that she's proud to be identified as a repulsive, knuckle-dragging, bigoted, hate-filled shrew.

CBS Gives Anti-Gay Bigot Andrea Lafferty Ten Minutes On ENDA Debate

Certified douchnozzle Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the certified hate group, the Traditional Values Coalition, was given a platform today by CBS in an ENDA debate with the HRC's Allyson Robinson. You may recall that last week Laferty claimed that ENDA will result in "stump fetishists" assaulting disabled veterans. Watch this. I really wish Allyson had been more confrontational.

Roll Call Publishes Anti-ENDA Column By Leader Of Anti-Gay Hate Group

Bilerico's Jillian Weiss alerts us that Roll Call, the respected DC journal of Capitol Hill goings-on, has published a vile anti-ENDA column by Andrea Lafferty of the SPLC-certified hate group, the Traditional Values Coalition. Rather than mentioning that ENDA would protect millions of gays and lesbians from employment discrimination, Lafferty focuses on the haters' favorite target, trans folk.
In 2008, students and parents were shocked to learn that a female music teacher at California’s Foxboro Elementary School underwent surgery to become a man. Parents were not informed about the sex change in advance so they could remove their children from her class. In addition, the kids were required to refer to her as “Mister.” The school district refused to notify parents about this teacher’s sex change because of “privacy laws” — that is, laws under the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. The federal government clearly oversteps its bounds when it places the privacy of a teacher above the right of the parents to look after the well-being of their child.

These cases are not isolated, and hundreds of school districts nationwide could face similarly sticky situations if ENDA is passed. Right now, 38 states do not have gender identity recognized as a protected status, but ENDA would change all of that. While states like Illinois and California do have laws protecting gender identity under non-discrimination guidelines, such laws should not be forced upon the dissenting majority. Bill passage would strip states of their right to legislate in matters of employee discrimination, education and morality. Aside from the federal government trampling states’ rights, what type of education are we giving to our children when we present them with difficult questions regarding gender identity?
Read Weiss' excellent ripping of Lafferty's many lies in her Roll Call column. And let Roll Call editor Charlie Mitchell know how you feel about him handing over column space to the leader of a nationally-shunned hate group: 202-824-6800.

PhoboQuotable - Andrea Lafferty

"Every state will be forced to make cross-dressers, drag queens, transsexuals, and she-males (male-female hybrids) into protected classes. Therefore, every school district in America will be forbidden by law to reassign any she-male teacher because this would be considered 'discrimination.' Thus, children will be trapped in classes taught by men who dress as women, and students will be indoctrinated to affirm that this is normal behavior.

"Children need a stable and secure environment in which to learn. ENDA threatens that. Our nation's children will be victims of ENDA. All too often I hear, 'Hey, my kids are in a Christian school' or 'My kids are home schooled so this won't affect me.' The reality is that an estimated 90+ percent of Christian kids attend public school in the United States. ENDA will impact these children in devastating ways." - Traditional Values Coalition executive director Andrea Lafferty, writing for the American Family Association's OneNewsNow to rally support for TVC's ENDA Hurts Kids campaign.

PhoboQuotable - Lou Sheldon

"In the next few weeks, President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and their homosexual and transgender allies will attempt to ram through the so-called Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). What you may not know is that ENDA normalizes and provides special federal protection for 30+ bizarre sexual orientations listed by the American Psychiatric Association – the so-called 'Dirty 30.' These 30+ fetishes include behaviors that are felonies or misdemeanors in most states.

"ENDA’s 'Dirty 30' includes such bizarre criminal acts as incest, pedophilia, prostitution, beastiality, and cross-dressing. If we don’t act today, Obama and Pelosi will normalize these disorders by federal law on April 21! In a moment of candor, liberal Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) openly admitted on the House floor that the 'Dirty 30' would be covered by federal law. In fact, he wants the Dirty 30 to be given special protection! In his own words: 'all of these philias and fetishes and isms that were put forward--need not live in fear because of who they are.'

"If Obama, Pelosi, Hastings and the Congressional Democrats pass ENDA, co-workers will be forced to work alongside individuals with these bizarre sex fetishes. Christian businesses will be directly impacted by ENDA. They would be forced to hire or retain cross-dressers and individuals who engage in these sinful behaviors. Students will be indoctrinated that 'alternative lifestyles' are no different than traditional lifestyles. Young children will be forced to learn about these bizarre sexual fetishes – and you will have no say in the matter." - Traditional Values Coalition director Rev. Lou Sheldon, reviving the outrageous lies used against the Matthew Shepard Act.

And of course, the above-cited quote from Rep. Hastings actually comes from his mocking and disbelieving reading of a proposed anti-gay poison pill to the Matthew Shepard Act. Sheldon knows that, but he depends on his Christianist followers to buy the lie.

Traditional Values Coalition: Massa Attack

Andrea Lafferty at the Traditional Values Coalition took a little longer than expected to issue this bit of predictable blather.
The ex-Congressman from New York is now the new poster child for upholding the 1993 law banning gays and lesbians from serving in the military. His former Navy colleagues are coming out of hiding to expose his decades-long habit of trying to seduce his subordinates – known as “snorkeling” in the Navy. As the public learns more about Massa’s aggressive homosexual advances toward his subordinates, his former Navy colleagues are going public with lurid tales of his gay exploits aboard Naval vessels.

Here is a clear case of a gay sexual predator assaulting his subordinates in the Navy and getting away with it. Massa’s shipmates were afraid of turning him in for fear of retaliation. If the Congress overturns the 1993 law banning gays and lesbians from openly serving in the military, lechers like Massa will have free reign to aggressively stalk and conquer young subordinates. Does Congress really want to legalize the predatory behaviors of such men? Overturning the 1993 law will give gays and lesbians license to go after young soldiers, sailors and Marines. Men like Massa will then multiply in the Armed Forces – undermining unit cohesion and military readiness.
Lafferty omits the extremely inconvenient fact that Eric Massa is a straight-identified opposite-married man with four children. Just the type that commits the very offenses she claims to fear and someone that would be unaffected by a repeal of DADT.

Trans Panic! At The Disco

Good As You points out the latest bit of transphobery from the Tradition Values Coalition.
President Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats are quietly rushing through legislation (H.R. 3017 & S. 1584) that would actually bring cross-dressing teachers into your child’s classroom. Under the so-called, Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), your children will be trapped in classes taught by drag queens and transgender activists. Students will be indoctrinated that “alternative lifestyles” are no different than traditional lifestyles. Young children will be forced to learn about bizarre sexual fetishes – and you will have no say in the matter. It is already happening in some states and concerned parents can’t do a thing about it – until now. This radical bill goes too far. That’s why the Traditional Values Coalition is standing in strong opposition to ENDA. Sign our petition against ENDA today and send Obama, Reid, Pelosi, and their liberal allies a clear message: cross-dressing teachers do not belong in our classrooms!
The haters understand very well that transphobia is one of their safest bets when trying to quash any LGBT rights bill.

PhoboQuotable - Andrea Lafferty

"When I was sitting in that hearing room listening to Senator Levin and other pompous liberals blather on about the importance of gays and lesbians serving openly in the military, I felt sick to my stomach. But, I was also filled with anger that some Members of Congress would be so willing to undermine our military in order to cater to a small minority of individuals who love to engage in bizarre sex acts.

"We don’t win wars or uphold the morale of our military by surrendering to individuals who lust after same-sex partners. The U.S. Military isn’t a social science experiment. Defending our nation is serious business – clearly one that President Obama appears not to take seriously. I can foresee rampant violence in the military if macho men must share shower facilities, bunk beds in a submarine or fox holes with sex-crazed gay males.

"Our men and women in uniform are too valuable to be subjected to a social science experiment. They’re not lab rats; they’re patriotic trained combat troops. TVC will do whatever it can to stop passage of H.R. 1283. We oppose Obama’s headlong rush to undermine our military so that he can pay off his political debt to the gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender activists who helped put him in office. Stand with us! A gift of $50, $75, $100, $150 or more will help us educate Members of Congress and the public on this serious threat to our military readiness. We cannot permit a one-term trainee President to destroy our Armed Forces and drive good people away from serving their country. Let me hear from you today with the largest gift you can give." - Traditional Values Coalition executive douchenozzle Andrea Lafferty, in a desperation hate-based donation plea.

Where Do We Stand On ENDA?

In a story published today on Bay Windows, veteran gay journalist Rex Wockner talks about the delay in moving ENDA forward in Congress, where the bill is mired in legal tinkering on the arcane (to us) issues of disparate impact, lawyers fees, and double-recovery.
"Disparate impact" is when a policy or practice has the effect of being discriminatory even if that was not the intention. The article provided by HRC said the latest ENDA modifications will explicitly block disparate-impact cases on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity -- even as they will remain possible on the basis of race, color, gender, religion and national origin. "Double recovery" would involve the filing of two similar discrimination cases under both ENDA and Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Some courts have ruled that Title VII’s ban on gender-based discrimination extends to discrimination against transgender people. Finally, the lawyers plan to prevent the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other administrative agencies from awarding attorney fees to the winning side in cases based on ENDA. The EEOC does not award attorney fees in other types of discrimination cases; that is done by courts.

Some activists are unhappy with the new delay and the details of what’s being reworked. "Gay Americans have never had protections from discrimination in the workplace," activist and political consultant Steve Hildebrand said in an interview. "Year after year the LGBT community asks Congress to pass ENDA so we have the same protection from discrimination that every other American has had. Now we see staff attorneys weakening the bill and causing unfortunate delays. We need to generate tens of thousands of calls to members of Congress and demand full equality under the law now."
As I have said here many times, I consider ENDA to be the single-most important piece of LGBT rights legislation. Please hit this HRC link where you can easily urge your legislators to get off their asses on workplace discrimination.

Yesterday the Traditional Values Coalition issued this typically hysterical warning to Christians about the possible passage of ENDA.
ENDA will force businesses, public schools (pre-kindergarten through 12th grade), as well as Christian entities such as religious broadcasters, Christian bookstores, etc., to accommodate the sexual practices of cross-dressers, drag queens, transsexuals, and even she-males (individuals who undergo only a partial sex change operation). Will private Christian entities such as camps, pre-schools, grade and high schools, be forced to hire she-males? Under ENDA it is likely.

Make no mistake about it: ENDA will also directly target public schools and help fuel the LGBT agenda on campuses. Imagine a school teacher telling students he's returning the next year as a woman. Will parents be free to opt their children out of a transsexual's class? NO. Parents are already prevented from doing so by a similar law in California. Additionally, a recent Massachusetts court decision jailed a parent who disagreed with homosexual teaching in his child's elementary school. Will children who are offended be considered bigots who need re-education? Probably, yes.

ENDA will federalize the sexual insanity taking place in California schools - thanks to a LGBT-dominated legislature and compliant governor. Children in California schools are captive to the LGBT political agenda. If ENDA passes, transsexuals, drag queens, cross-dressers and she-males will be federally-protected minority groups and can freely exploit our nation's public school kids. ENDA is proposing newly invented rights for individuals who engage in a variety of bizarre sex acts. ENDA pits constitutional rights of religious freedom and free speech against individuals who cross-dress or engage in dangerous sexual activities.
