Alan Colmes Vs Todd Starnes

Brian Brown Has The Ireland Super Sadz

"We want to thank David Quinn and The Iona Institute for fighting the good fight running the No campaign against tremendous odds in Ireland. We are disappointed but not surprised with the apparent passage of a referendum in Ireland providing for the redefinition of marriage in that country. This is a reflection on the increasingly secularized nature of Ireland, together with the utter abandonment of principle by every political party in the nation, all of whom endorsed the referendum. This, combined with intense harassment of any group or individual who spoke out in opposition to the referendum, made it difficult for opponents.

"Despite this, millions of Irish citizens stood to vote to uphold the truth of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Even with this decision in Ireland, the idea of same-sex marriage has been widely rejected by the community of nations around the world, where only 18 nations recognize same-sex 'marriage', almost all of them in the west, which represents less than 10% of the nations in the world.

"If there is any relevance to the Irish vote for people here in the United States, it is that the US Supreme Court should take note that the people of Ireland at least had the opportunity to vote. This is what we demand of our justices — respect the right of people to define marriage in the law for themselves. If that occurs, we are confident that the American people will continue to support marriage in the law as it exists in reality — the union of one man and one woman in order to provide the ideal environment for any children born of their union." - Hate group leader Brian Brown, lying about the numbers as always, via press release. Bolding is motherfucking mine.

Faded Game Show Host Chuck Woolery Lies Again About Same-Sex Marriage

Former game show host Chuck Woolery makes his living these days with middle-of-the-night infomercials for the Willow Curve, which claims to cure a host of joint ailments with blinking lights. In yesterday's podcast to his followers in Teabagistan, Woolery repeats the ridiculous lie that churches will lose their tax-exempt status if they refuse to host same-sex marriages. It's worth noting again that the only reason anybody in the world even knows Chuck Woolery's name is because a gay man, Merv Griffin, gave him that Wheel Of Fortune gig in 1975.

FRC Launches Victims Of Gays Site

The Family Research Council has launched Free To Believe, a warehousing site for all of the sad, sad, clutch-the-Kleenex stories of the noble Christian martyrs and victims of evil homofascists. Among those victims are multimillionaires David and Jason Benham, multimillionaire Phil Robertson, a Utah cop who wouldn't do his job, an Atlanta fire chief who broke the rules at his job, several small business owners who broke long-standing state laws, and several others who claims were debunked after having been first publicized by noted truth-teller Todd Starnes. You'll recognize pretty much all the names, they are the same tiny group that has been trotted out over and over and over for the last few years.

Brian Brown Doubles Hate March Number

Just in from Brian Brown:
On Saturday we had an amazing March for Marriage — our biggest and most successful ever! There were approximately 15,000 marchers present! Thank you to everyone who participated... I will be sending you pictures, videos and news stories about it soon. But first, we still have some work to do. Tomorrow, April 28, 2015, is the day the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Obergefell v Hodges to determine whether or not states have the right to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. NOM, along with Alliance Defending Freedom and numerous other family groups, will be present at the Supreme Court tomorrow morning to demonstrate. If you are able to come into DC and participate, I would encourage you to do so to help us have a strong contingent of marriage supporters present on this historic day. We will be rallying at 10:00 am, but I encourage you to come early, as there will likely be thousands of demonstrators — from both sides — present.
On Saturday the Washington Post reported that Brown was claiming attendance at 7000.  Outside observers pegged the number at 2000 - 3000.

Face The Nation Host To Tony Perkins:
We Almost Didn't Have You On Because You Are A Known Hate Group Leader

Via Crooks & Liars:
As the nation prepares for the Supreme Court to possibly decide whether same-sex marriage is a constitutional right, it was clear on Sunday that even anti-gay crusader Tony Perkins was having difficulty being taken seriously by the mainstream media. During a discussion about marriage equality on Face the Nation, CBS host Bob Schieffer began by noting that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) had determined that Perkins' organization, the Family Research Council, was a "hate group." "The Southern Poverty Law Center has branded the Family Research Council an anti-gay hate group," Schieffer explained as if it were a warning to his viewers. "We have been inundated by people who say we should not even let you appear because they, in their view -- quote -- you don't speak for Christians."
Perkins brushed off Shieffer's introduction and then denied that he has called for impeaching the Supreme Court. Which he just did two days ago. Watch the clip and stick around for Evan Wolfson's typically thoughtful reactions.

Today's Crazy Lie From Mike Huckabee

"If the courts rule that people have a civil right not only to be a homosexual but a civil right to have a homosexual marriage, then a homosexual couple coming to a pastor who believes in biblical marriage who says ‘I can’t perform that wedding’ will now be breaking the law. It’s not just saying, ‘I’m sorry you have a preference.’ No, you will be breaking the law subject to civil for sure and possible criminal penalties for violating the law. If you do practice biblical convictions and you carry them out and you do what you’ve been led by the spirit of God to do, your behavior will be criminal. God help us all." - Mike Huckabee, speaking on a conference call with pastors that had been organized by the Family Research Council.

FRC: Same-Sex Marriage Violates The Separation Of Church And State

Brian Tashman writes at Right Wing Watch:
The Family Research Council announced today that it has partnered with Rick Santorum’s film company, EchoLight Studios, to produce a short film for churches to air during the April 26 event “Stand for Marriage Sunday: Religious Freedom at Risk.” In the film, which features appearances by Santorum and Mike Huckabee, the FRC warns that a Supreme Court ruling striking down bans on same-sex marriage would jeopardize religious freedom and undermine the separation of church and state. The film mentions cases in Oregon and Washington state where a baker and florist, respectively, were sued for violating their states’ non-discrimination laws — not marriage laws — for refusing service to gay customers. (The baker and florist both lost their cases).
See the full bullshit video here. An excerpt is below. And remember that although homofascists are "verbally killing Christians" and "persecuting Christians all over America," only six businesses have ever been fined for violating LGBT-related public accommodation laws since Wisconsin became the first state with such a law over 33 years ago.

Today's Lie From Tony Perkins

Oh brother. The Denver bakery was allowed to decline the requested message on the cake, which was "Homosexuality Is Detestable." As the local press reported at the time of the complaint, the bakery advertises its various Christian-related products such a baptismal celebration cakes, etc. There really is nothing Tony Perkins will not lie about.

OMM: Victory Over Wife-Swapping Show

Just in via email:
The first television show to be cancelled for the spring season is "Neighbors With Benefits," thanks to your help! 1MM is praising God that children and adults will no longer be subjected to this broadcasting disaster. It aired at 10:00 p.m. ET (9:00 CT) when teens are likely still awake. And commercials for this program came on at much earlier hours when children of all ages were likely watching. Your emails helped make a difference! 1MM asked A&E network to cancel this degrading and sex-filled program immediately and followed with an email campaign urging sponsors to pull their support. Public outcry and lack of advertisers is the cause for the show's cancellation after only two episodes! Nine one-hour long episodes were filmed. Thankfully, the majority of these will never be aired. Your support is making a HUGE difference! But to continue, 1MM needs prayer and financial support. Please consider making a donation today to help our efforts. Your voice was heard loud and clear again! Keep up the great work!
The truth, of course, is that the show was canceled due to low ratings and shitty reviews.

Today's Money Beg From Brian Brown

"Support for same-sex marriage has dropped over the past year by six percentage points, while opposition has increased. In fact, more voters are opposed to same-sex 'marriage' (44%) than are in favor of it (42%). This dramatic change in public opinion comes as activist judges throughout the country have been working overtime to redefine marriage in direct opposition to the decision of over fifty million voters. While the media seems utterly baffled by these findings — unable to process them and therefore report on them — we are not surprised in the least. Please make plans for joining us for the March for Marriage this year as we make the case for marriage. Three days after the justices of the Supreme Court see the outpouring of support for marriage, they will hear oral argument in the case that could shape the legal definition of marriage in America for years to come. In the mean time, please consider making a generous donation to support our efforts to organize and promote this critical event. We have a great deal of work to do and nobody to turn to for help except for loyal supporters like you." - Hate group leader Brian Brown, choosing to ignore the record-high 59% support for marriage equality reported last week in a major national survey.

Todd Starnes: NYC's Muslim School Holidays Discriminate Against Christians

Starnes and Tony Perkins are claiming that Christmas and Easter are not recognized as Christian holidays on the NYC school calender. Outrage! Except that Right Wing Watch points out that Easter falls on a Sunday and is therefore not a school holiday and that Christmas is indeed named on the calendar.

Ben Carson To Sean Hannity: CNN Edited My Comments To Make Me Look Bad

Via Mediaite:
During a radio discussion this afternoon with Sean Hannity, Carson blamed the ordeal on CNN. “It was a 25 minute interview they chopped, and you see what part they emphasized,” he said. “I did learn something very important: For certain networks, never do a pre-taped interview. Always do it live.” In the interview, flagged and cut down into a shorter clip by conservative site The Right Scoop, Hannity agreed with Carson that pre-taped interviews allow for quotes to be taken out context or reshuffled in order to cast them in a certain light. Carson continued: “I simply have decided I’m not really going to talk about that issue anymore because every time I’m gaining momentum the liberal press says, ‘Let’s talk about gay rights.’ And I’m just not going to fall for that anymore.” The problem with Carson’s attempt to play victim here is that, during that sequence of the CNN interview, there were clearly no jump-cuts and no edits — just a straight back-and-forth about whether homosexuality is a choice.
Following that ridiculous lie, Carson issued an non-apology about the comments made on CNN:
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson apologized for commenting Wednesday that prisoners' changes after they leave jail proves being gay is a choice, but said that the science is still murky on the issue. In a statement, Carson said he "realized that my choice of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues." "I do not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended," he added. Carson referenced his medical education and his work at Johns Hopkins Hospital and asserted that the verdict is still out on whether people are born either gay or straight. "Some of our brightest minds have looked at this debate, and up until this point there have been no definitive studies that people are born into a specific sexuality," he said.
The audio Hannity clip is below. Let's see how long it takes before Carson breaks his pledge to stop talking about gay people.

Oregon Officials: Lying Todd Starnes Is A Lying Liar From Liartown Who Tells Lies

The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries today called out Todd Starnes for lying in yesterday's Fox News column about the possible fines faced by that anti-gay bakery. Via Raw Story:
Starnes incorrectly reported that bakery owners Aaron and Melissa Klein could face $200,000 in fines and damages – which an official with the BOLI flatly denied in a statement to Media Matters. “Todd Starnes is writing that the bakery owners face fines of up to $200,000 in damages. That’s false,” said Charlie Burr, the agency’s communications director. “In fact, it’s the Kleins who have asked for $200,000 in damages from our agency for our enforcement of the Equality Act.” An administrative judge rejected the couple’s request to dismiss the case and award them damages, court costs, and attorneys fees.
Starnes has not corrected his column at this writing. Don't hold your breath. (Tipped by JMG reader West)

Today's Lie From Todd Starnes

Obama's statement:
The United States condemns the heinous murder of Japanese citizen and journalist Kenji Goto by the terrorist group ISIL. Through his reporting, Mr. Goto courageously sought to convey the plight of the Syrian people to the outside world. Our thoughts are with Mr. Goto’s family and loved ones, and we stand today in solidarity with Prime Minister Abe and the Japanese people in denouncing this barbaric act. We applaud Japan’s steadfast commitment to advancing peace and prosperity in the Middle East and globally, including its generous assistance for innocent people affected by the conflicts in the region. Standing together with a broad coalition of allies and partners, the United States will continue taking decisive action to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL.
You'd think that even Fox News would call Starnes out at some point.

Right Wing Watch: AFA's "Firing" Of Bryan Fischer Is A Meaningless Trick

Kyle Mantyla writes at Right Wing Watch:
From what we have been able to gather, Fischer has not actually been dismissed by AFA but has rather merely been stripped of his title as director of issues analysis and his role as spokesman for the organization. Fischer will reportedly continue to produce his daily radio program for the AFA's radio arm, American Family Radio.

If this is indeed the case, then the AFA has literally accomplished nothing with this stunt and has utterly failed to distance itself from Fischer's utterly despicable views. The primary venues though which Fischer has managed to spread his bigotry for the last six years have always been owned, operated, and funded by the American Family Association and that relationship appears to remain intact.

Stripping Fischer of his title as AFA spokesman in no way alleviates the AFA of its responsibility for Fischer's toxic views given that the only reason Fischer even has a platform from which to spread those views is because AFA is providing it to him and paying him to do so!

From the very start of Fischer's time at AFA, the organization has pathetically attempted to have it both ways: providing the very microphone from which Fischer speaks while simultaneously claiming that it has bears no responsibility for the message that he sends.

The AFA latest effort to rid itself of Fischer's rancid reputation is little more than a rhetorical accounting trick aimed at creating the false impression that the organization has wiped Fischer's bigotry off of its books.
Hit the link for a recapping of Fischer's bizarre career before the AFA launched into national prominence. At the very least, perhaps after yesterday's stunt GOP leaders will be less willing to appear on Fischer's show.
