Anonymous Vs KKK, Continued

Ancona is the Imperial Wizard of Missouri's Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. From the New York Daily News:
The city of Ferguson is anxiously awaiting a grand jury's decision whether to indict cop Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown in August. Several months of riots and unrest followed the shooting. "We will use lethal force as provided under Missouri Law to defend ourselves," Ancona and the local KKK wrote in a flyer they are circulating in Ferguson. "You have been warned by the Ku Klux Klan!" Ancona tells The News that he is not asking anyone to do anything illegal — he is just encouraging the people of Ferguson to defend themselves against protesters in case they turn violent. He was only reached after a reporter had to endure 30 seconds of pre-recorded hate speech on the Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK phone line. The Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is one of five active KKK groups in Missouri, the Southern Poverty Law Center says on its website. Ancona says the group has between 4,000 and 5,000 members. He hails from Park Hills — which also happens to be the Klan's national headquarters. He also has a message for Anonymous: "We are not Internet-based," Ancona says. "If they want to come after us, they have to come out onto the streets."

Anonymous Takes Down More Hate Sites

Via Raw Story:
On Tuesday, the campaign continued, with Anonymous moving beyond the Klan to target racist websites like Stormfront.org and writing, “The aim of our operation is nothing more than Cyber Warfare. Anything you upload will be taken down, anything you use to promote the KKK will be shut down. DDoS attacks have already been sent and have infiltrated your servers over the past 2 days — d0x’s have also been launched on leaders of the KKK. All information retrieved will be given to the public.” DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attacks are an illegal tool used by hackers to shut down a website by flooding it with so many dummy requests that the server overloads and goes offline. Anonymous is claiming to have knocked multiple Klan websites offline in several states including North Carolina, Utah and Texas, as well as a website for white supremacist group the Traditional American Knights.
In addition to taking over sites, Anonymous has posted personal information about dozens of alleged Klan members and supporters - including their home addresses and phone numbers. Several of the targeted persons have also had their credit card numbers and PINs published.

Anonymous Seizes KKK's Twitter Account In Advance Of Ferguson Decision

Yesterday afternoon Anonymous seized the Ku Klux Klan's Twitter account after the hate group threatened to use "lethal force" during any protests over the coming decision on the indictment of the Missouri police officer that killed a young black man.
The Riverfront Times reported that the St. Louis, Missouri KKK group passed out pamphlets starting, "Attention: To the terrorists masquerading as "peaceful protesters"!" The announcement stated further, "We will use lethal force as provided under Missouri law to defend ourselves." KKK leader Frank Ancona went on MCNBC Wednesday to back up the threat and claim support from Ferguson locals; the head of Missouri's KKK told media that his organization's threats to protesters had boosted KKK recruitment. The Missouri group behind the threats -- Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan -- is listed as an active hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. On Friday Anonymous began doxing (publicly revealing identities and personal information) of KKK members in the Ferguson/St. Louis area.
Prior to the hacking, the KKK spent much of the weekend taunting Anonymous for not being able to hack them. Below is the doxing clip.

UPDATE: YouTube has pulled the clip.

Anonymous: We Spotted Very Anti-Gay Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR) At DC Gay Bar

The above Anonymous Twitter account with 1.3 million followers claims to have spotted Tea Party hero and US Senate candidate Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR) in the crowd at the popular DC gay bar JR's. I've looked at the photos of Cotton that come up on Google Image and just can't tell from the shot posted to Foursquare. According to Wikipedia, Cotton married a woman early this year and is expecting his first child in the spring.

Earlier this week an NRA endorsement of Cotton appeared on Grindr, but the NRA claims that the ad is fake, so perhaps this Anonymous claim is part of some bizarre campaign to malign Cotton, who has all of the usual far-right Tea Party positions and strongly opposes same-sex marriage. He is considered likely to unseat Sen. Mark Pryor and currently leads in the polls by seven points. (Tipped by JMG reader Brandon)

Anonymous Targets Westboro

The hacktivists at Anonymous are punishing Westboro Baptist Church for their plan to picket Connecticut's Sandy Hook Elementary. Via CNET:
As part of a campaign dubbed #OpWestBoro, KY Anonymous said yesterday it posted the personal information belonging to members of the extremist organization, which is best known for conducting protests designed to disrupt the funerals of members of the military killed in action. The data dump included the names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and physical addresses of dozens of alleged members of the religious organization. The group did not indicate where or how it acquired the data.

Anonymous Threatens Uganda's Pols

Anonymous has issued a threat against Uganda's leaders should their "Kill The Gays" bill pass. Earlier this week Ugandan clergy demanded the bill's passage as a "Christmas gift to Christians."
The so-called 'hacktivists' from Anonymous New Jersey sent a stark warning to lawmakers, urging them not rubber stamp the draconian legislation which would mean gay Ugandans could face life imprisonment or even the death penalty. With the message, the secretive campaigners also released the names and contact details names of members of the African nation's Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs. "The "Kill the gays" bill has been reintroduced into the Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs in Uganda," Anonymous posted in Pastebin. "Let them know that we will not let this bill pass. And if it does they should expect us."
The mailing address and phone number of the speaker of Uganda's Parliament has already been posted.

Go Daddy Allegedly Hacked By Anonymous, Millions Of Sites Go Down

If you can't open your favorite site today, this may be why.
A member of the Anonymous hacktivist group appears to have taken down GoDaddy with a massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). The widespread issue seems to be affecting countless websites and services around the world, although not for everyone. Godaddy.com is down, but so are some of the site’s DNS servers, which means GoDaddy hosted e-mail accounts are down as well, and lots more. It’s currently unclear if the servers are being unresponsive or if they are completely offline. Either way, the result is that if your DNS is hosted on GoDaddy, your site may also look as if it is down, because it cannot resolve.
NOM appears to be among the affected sites.

Anonymous Hacks Ugandan Government: Your Treatment Of Gays Is Disgusting

Two websites of the Ugandan government were hacked yesterday by Anonymous. One of the messages read:
“Today’s hack and deface of the Ugandan Prime Minister’s site was the latest in a long list of actions against the government and infrastructure of Uganda for crimes against LGBT people. “We will not stand by while LGBT Ugandans are victimized, abused and murdered by a ruthless and corrupt government. #TheEliteSociety and #Anonymous will continue to target Ugandan government sites and communications until the government of Uganda treats all people including LGBT [people] equally, with respect and dignity and immediately ends the arrest and harassment of LGBT [people]. “The government of Uganda will not stop us or LGBT people from standing up to their hatred and fighting against their abuses . . . Equal treatment for ALL people, or you can expect us again."
A message on the website of Uganda's prime minister read in part: "Your violations of the rights of LGBT people have disgusted us."

Anonymous To Wall Street: We Will Take Down Stock Exchange On October 10th

PC Magazine:
The threat to "erase" the NYSE from the Internet was not explained, though in comments on the YouTube video, some speculated that Anonymous was planning a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack on the public-facing NYSE.com website, similar to DDoS attacks the group has used to take down websites in the past. Others felt that would only be a minor setback for the NYSE and guessed that Anonymous was planning a larger attack, perhaps even an attempt to actually disable trading on the exchange.

Westboro's Sites Still Hacked

Infosec Island notes that Westboro Baptist Church's dozens of websites remain offline more than one month after the initial attack by the famed hacker Jester.
The sustained DoS attacks which began on February 21st represent a duration record for the hacktivist who is best known for his regular attacks on militant Jihadi websites as well as for an attack on the WikiLeaks website in late November of 2010 that forced the organization to shuffle Internet hosting providers. The Jester uses a DoS tool he calls XerXeS to perform an application level attack which can be performed by a single low-spec machine with relatively few packets, whereas traditional TCP-based DoS attacks require multiple machines. The XerXeS tool has been employed to disable multiple WBC websites in a relentless campaign to hamper the church's continued use of the Internet to broadcast hate speech.
The hackers group Anonymous, which is apparently not involved, says that Westboro's initial claim of a pending attack by them was a publicity hoax.
