Carly Fiorina: I'm Running For President

Carly Fiorina is officially in the race.
Fiorina, 60, has never held public office. A 2010 run for US senate collapsed amid images of private jets and million-dollar yachts. Now, she hopes the revived record of a dot-com businesswoman will vault her over the otherwise all-male Republican field of mostly professional politicians – or at least lead to a spot as one of their vice-presidential running mates to face Hillary Clinton head-on. “We went from a market laggard to market leader,” Fiorina has said of her six years running the computer giant. “Unlike Hillary, I have actually accomplished something.” But those who watched what Fiorina did to HP – mishandling the $25bn acquisition of Compaq, getting ousted by the board in 2005 with a $21m golden parachute, repeatedly being named one of the worst CEOs in American corporate history – say those supposed accomplishments are already coming back to “haunt” her run for the White House. “She put herself ahead of the interests of the company and I fear she would do the same as president,” Jason Burnett, a grandson of the late HP co-founder David Packard and a member of the Packard Foundation board of trustees, told the Guardian. “I don’t want her to do harm to this country.”

Carly Fiorina On RFRA And Marriage

"The debate about gay marriage is really a debate about how the government bestows benefits and whether they should be bestowed equally. I believe they should. I also believe that people of religious conviction know that marriage is a religious institution with a spiritual foundation because only a man and a woman can create life, which is a gift that comes from God. We must protect their rights as well. I hope that we come to a place in this country where we are prepared to have respectful differences and tolerate those two views. Religious liberty and tolerance are too important to our country. It is frankly sad to me that politics has become a fact-free zone. It is sad that so many people on the left were quick to turn this into a divisive and destructive debate so they could further their own brand of identity politics. It is sad that CEOs took to Twitter before checking their facts, adding to the division instead of helping build tolerance." - Likely 2016 presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, posting yesterday to her Facebook page.

Doesn't it seem like Fiorina just endorsed same-sex marriage? I thought so and this USA Today headline makes that assertion, but a rep for Fiorina says something different to Bloomberg:
When reached for comment, spokesperson Anna Epstein said that Fiorina has, for years, supported government benefits for same-sex couples bound by civil unions. "Carly is against discrimination and for government benefits for same sex couples," Epstein said. "She's been supportive of civil unions and was supportive of them in her run in California in 2010." In her statement Fiorina chastised "people on the left" as well as the CEOs from companies joining in a boycott of Indiana over its new law for not attempting to help "build tolerance." "It has been tough for some in the media to understand my position because I refuse to join the game of name calling and vitriol. Politics shouldn't be a game, however. We must find a way to respect one another, to celebrate a culture that protects religious freedom while condemning discrimination," Fiornia said.

Sarah Palin To Headline CPAC 2015

Sarah Palin yesterday confirmed her headlining appearance at CPAC 2015 despite not-quiet grumbling from the far right after her bizarre, rambling speech at last month's GOP 2016 Clown Car Revue in Iowa. Also on board for this year's CPAC are Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Rick Santorum, Ben Carson, Sean Hannity, Scott Walker, Rand Paul, Rick Perry, Laura Ingraham, and Brent Bozell, who infamously called President Obama a "skinny ghetto crackhead" during an appearance on Fox News. CPAC launched in 1973. Ronald Reagan delivered 12 speeches at CPAC, including after he left the White House.

CALIFORNIA: Sen. Barbara Boxer Defeats Carly "Demon Sheep" Fiorina

It was a nail-biter to down the wire, but the networks are just now calling it for Boxer. Whew! And another loss for an anti-marriage endorsee of GOProud! Congrats to one of the Senate's most reliable friends of the LGBT community!

CALIFORNIA: Sen. Barbara Boxer Holding Decent Lead Over Carly Fiorina

It's looking more and more like Sen. Barbara Boxer is going to be able to fend off Carly "Demon Sheep" Fiorina, who this week poured another million from her HP golden parachute into her campaign. Fiorina has spent $6.5M of her own money so far, but still lags far behind Boxer in overall fundraising.

CALIFORNIA: Sen. Barbara Boxer Vs. Carly Fiorina Still Too Close To Call

Sen. Barbara Boxer's battle to retain her seat remains in the toss-up category as Carly Fiorina prepares to unleash an avalanche of last minute campaign ads. Yesterday Boxer launched the below ad which blasts Fiorina (in Spanish) over her position on immigration.

NOM Attacks Barbara Boxer En Español

Brian Brown: "California's Latino population is socially conservative and supports the family values of life, marriage and work. They voted strongly in favor of Proposition 8 and they are pro-life. Barbara Boxer does not share these values. She is a knee-jerk, strident partisan who ignores the values of her constituents in order to practice bitterly divisive politics."

CALIFORNIA: Courage Campaign Staffer Attack By NOM Bus Tour Supporter

The Courage Campaign reports that the man pictured above attacked their cameraman during a stop on NOM's bus tour in California.
The man, who claimed to be the owner of the property, angrily told Anthony that this was private property, and quickly struck Anthony in the arm, knocking the camera to the ground. Our tour camera has been damaged, and we’re not sure that footage can be recovered. (Update: Anthony is shaken up, but fine. Thanks to all of you for inquiring.) The Santa Ana police were quick to respond. They quickly stopped the Vota Tus Valores Bus from making a quick getaway, and a complaint has been filed with the police for battery. More to come on the legal proceedings as it comes in.
NOM's latest hate tour has been even more unattended than the last one with little to no advance publicity for its stops. Many are wondering what the actual purpose of the entire tour may be.

NOM Bus Tour Fail: Version Two

The Courage Campaign's Prop 8 Trial Tracker reports that yesterday's launch of NOM's latest bus tour is another laughable failure.
Only one stop into The Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles’ “Vota Tus Valores” bus tour (vote your values, for those who don’t speak Spanish), sponsored by the National Organization for Marriage, and we’re already questioning whether to take these folks seriously. The tour bus arrived 15 minutes late to the Park at Riverwalk, which could have caused confusion if anybody had bothered to come (or if the tour had actually taken the time to invite people).

There was no setup for speakers, just Spanish music blaring from the bus, a few organizers handing out literature and an opportunity to be interviewed by a Univision reporter who was forced to guess the location after poor directions from the organizing staff. “They had a party but nobody came,” said one member from the local Women’s Democratic Club who stopped by with two friends. Only one “values-voter” stopped by, but she was not Latina. “I was shopping at Target when I saw the bus across the street and wanted to see what it was all about,” she told me. We initially counted 8 in attendance, but 7 were organizers that got back on the bus at the end of the stop.
The next three stops on yesterday's tour also yielded only a handful of attendees. One troubling aspect of NOM's latest hate tour is the traitorous participation of Mexican actress Karyme Lozano, who in 2008 rode in the San Francisco Pride Parade as its "queen."

CALIFORNIA: NOM Launches Statewide Bus Tour In Support Of Carly Fiorina

Here comes another NOM bus tour, this time in California where they are reaching out to Spanish-speaking voters in their campaign to defeat Sen. Barbara Boxer.
Carly Fiorina believes in the right to life, from the moment of conception until natural death, and opposes same-sex marriage. Barbara Boxer is an outspoken advocate of both abortion and gay marriage. Latinos want to see Congress fix our dysfunctional immigration system. We are tired of promises. The Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles has proposed a common-sense, five-point plan to reform our immigration laws. Barbara Boxer says she is for immigration reform, but in all her years in office she hasn’t done anything to make it happen.
The bus route is here. Somehow I doubt NOM actually wants to see positive immigration reform.

CALIFORNIA: Boxer Pulls Past Fiorina

When I last posted about the Boxer-Fiorina race two weeks ago, polling averages were calling it a toss-up. But several polls taken mid-month are now showing Sen. Boxer with a growing (if slight) lead.
