ZIMBABWE: President Robert Mugabe Threatens To Expel Pro-Gay Diplomats

"Some years ago, l was warned that there was some secret organisation of that nature which was addressing young men to join them as homosexuals. This nonsense from Europe, keep their homosexual nonsense there and not cross over with it. We did not fight for this Zimbabwe so it can be a homosexual territory. We will never have that here and if there are any diplomats who will talk of any homosexuality, just tell me. We will kick them out of the country without any excuse. We won’t even listen." - Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe, 90, speaking today on the 34th anniversary of his country's independence from Britain.

Mugabe's speech also quoted from the biblical story of Adam's rib, and he threatened to lock gays and lesbians together in a room and not let them out until they make a baby. Zimbabwe is another country that gay people should thank Jesus Christ for, obviously.

Zimbabwe President Denounces Tutu

"Archbishop Tutu said it is nice to be gay, yet he has a wife, he should have begun by getting himself a man for a woman. When you are a bishop and cannot interpret the Bible, you should resign and give it to those who can. We will not compromise our tradition and tolerate homosexuality. I want to urge parents to be careful with your teenage children who are 17 years and older not to be swayed into this act as children are easily persuaded to accept it. During creation, God made Adam and saw that he was lonely, and he created Eve out of Adam’s rib and not another man. Animals are better off as they know who to mate with. Everyone knows what to do, even animals know which animal to mate with, goats know where to go, and cows know where to go too. We see donkeys all the time on top of each other, why can’t you humans do the same?” - Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, reacting to Tutu's declaration that he would not want to go to a homophobic heaven. Robert Mugabe: Gays Should Make Babies With Each Other Or Go To Jail

"So how would they (gay couples) have children? I should like to shut them-up in some room and see if they get pregnant; if they don’t then its jail because they have claimed they can have children. So, to that kind of rot, we say no, no, no, no! Women are also engaged in this vile activity. We have some claiming to be men but what is it that makes you a man? Show us your manhood; you want to make other women your wives and you the husband? Well, that is madness; we refuse to accept that." - Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, speaking to thousands of supporters in Harare.

Quote Of The Day - Robert Mugabe

"
"We do not have a culture of men marrying men or women marrying women. We cannot accept it, no, no, no. These things are taboo in our society. Some rape minors they are entrusted with in a short space of time, maybe it is for juju. We regret this is happening, big men do it. What is getting into our society?  After the polls, we will strengthen the law and make it really punitive and bitterly punishable for such people. At the moment, they get something like three months’ imprisonment. They should rot in jail. We want a nation guided by strong values, we cannot give up our values for money. I am glad in the Catholic Church there is stiff resistance to homosexuality, unlike in the Anglicans in Britain where the church accepts it." - Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, promising to worsen penalties for homosexuality in a speech made at a Catholic-run college graduation ceremony.

Gay Rights Are Inherently Misogynistic

"Mothers were given the talent to bear children. That talent doesn't belong to men. When a man says he wants to get married to another man, we in Zimbabwe don't accept it. We can't talk of women's rights at all if we go in that direction. It will lead to extinction. Our customs look down on women as inferior. Men pay cattle and money to get a wife and expect women to obey them. Women will surely lose. Men say that women are not as knowledgeable as us. The attitude of men still despises women." - Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, speaking at an HIV/AIDS conference.

Quote Of The Day - Robert Mugabe

"It becomes worse and Satanic when you get a prime minister like Cameron saying countries that want British aid should accept homosexuality. To come with that diabolical suggestion to our people is a stupid offer. Do not get tempted into homosexuality. You are young people. We will punish you severely. It is condemned by nature. It is condemned by insects and that is why I have said they are worse than pigs and dogs." - Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe.

Zimbabwe PM Calls For Gay Rights

In what's being described as a stunning reversal in policy, the prime minister of Zimbabwe is calling for gay rights to be guaranteed in his nation's new constitution, which is presently under review.
Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has reversed his position on gay rights, saying he now wants them enshrined in a new constitution. He told the BBC that gay rights were a "human right" that conservative Zimbabweans should respect. Last year, Mr Tsvangirai joined President Robert Mugabe in opposing homosexuality. The fractious coalition formed by the two leaders has promised political reforms ahead of next year's elections. Zimbabwe is in the process of drafting a new constitution, which will be put to a referendum ahead of the elections. Homosexual acts are currently illegal in Zimbabwe, as in most African countries where many people view homosexuality as un-Christian and un-African.
Observers expect President Mugabe to exploit this development in his campaign for reelection.

ZIMBABWE: Robert Mugabe Apologizes To Pigs For Comparing Them To Gays

"Today, the Anglican Church condones marriages between men and the same for women. The Archbishop of Canterbury is blessing such marriages - that is similar to dog behavior. At some point, I realised that I was reprimanding blameless dogs and pigs, which are aware that marriage is for procreation. We say no to gays! We will not listen to those advocating the inclusion of their rights in the constitution." - Dictator Robert Mugabe, in a speech also promising the continuance of polygamy rights in Zimbabwe.

Activists Released In Zimbabwe, Say They Were Tortured In Jail

The two gay activists arrested in Zimbabwe earlier this week have been released on bail. The men were arrested for "undermining" the regime of dictator Robert Mugabe after an anti-Mugabe letter from former SF Mayor Willie Brown was found posted in their office. The men say they were tortured in jail.
Their employer, Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (Galz), said the two were assaulted by police while in custody. They were also made to bend their knees into a sitting position with their arms outstretched for long periods and struck with bottles when they weakened and fell, according to their defence attorney, David Hofisi. Nelson Chamisa, a government minister and spokesman for the Movement for Democratic Change, condemned the alleged abuse: "Ill treatment or inhumane handling of any human being for any reason goes against our philosophy. We do not believe harassment is the best way of doing business. It flies in the face of the democratic order."
Next month they go on trial on charges of possessing pornography and insulting Mugabe.

ZIMBABWE: Gay Activists Arrested For "Undermining" Dictator Mugabe

Two gay activists in Zimbawe have been arrested and charged with "undermining" the regime of the country's notorious dictator, Robert Mugabe. The charge apparently arises from an anti-Mugabe letter from former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, which was reportedly displayed in the pair's office.
Ellen Chademana and Ingatius Muhambi of the Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe pressure group were arrested on May 21 after a police search of their offices in the capital, Harare, Kumbirai Mafunda, a lawyer with Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, said in a telephone interview from the city today. “Police allege that Chademana and Muhambi displayed a plaque from former San Francisco Mayor Willie Lewis Brown in their office in which the African-American denounces President Robert Mugabe’s homophobia against gays and lesbians,” he said. In 1995, Mugabe told a crowd including diplomats that homosexuals were “lower than pigs or dogs.” He has been the target of gay-rights activists on trips to Europe. Police spokesman Wayne Bvudzijena confirmed that Chademana and Muhambi were in police custody, though he declined to discuss the charges against them. Chademana and Muhambi also face charges of possession of “indecent material,” Mafunda said
RELATED: Mugabe's regime routinely dispatches its opponents by murdering them. Zimbabwe's economy is among the worst is the world, in 2008 its inflation rate was 89.7 sextillion percent.

Mugabe Blocks LGBT Rights In Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe is blocking the addition of LGBT rights to his nation's new constitution.
Mr Mugabe was quoted by the state-owned Herald newspaper today as saying: "That issue is not debatable, it's not up for discussion. “Those who engage in homosexual behaviour are just crazy. It’s just madness. Insanity. We can’t do it or the dead will turn in their graves." Zimbabwe's prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai agreed with the president. He said: "Women make up 52 per cent of the population… There are more women than men, so why should men be proposing to men?" Mr Mugabe has previously described gay people as worse than "dogs and pigs" and claimed that homosexuality is "un-African" and a "white man's disease." Sodomy is illegal in Zimbabwe, although gay couples are rarely prosecuted and gay groups are usually allowed to continue operating.
Zimbabwe is creating a new national constitution under a power-sharing deal with several parties.

Brother, Can You Spare A Billion?

Thanks to dictator Robert Mugabe's fubar regime, hyperinflation in Zimbabwe has forced the government to cease printing their $500M notes (above) and switch to $25 and $50 billion Zimbabwean dollar notes. The price of a newspaper in Zimbabwe is now $25B ZD. At the time of yesterday's above-linked story, a beer in a Zimbabwean bar was $150B ZD, or $6 USD. But by the time you read this, that beer will probably cost $50 billion more.

The madness, however, may end very soon. The German company that provides the paper to print the bills has suspended sales due to Mugabe's fraudulent election last month. What happens after the government can longer print the increasingly worthless bills? A barter economy? Revolution? Both, probably.
