VIRGINIA: The Cooch Is Selling Legal Insurance In Case You Shoot Somebody

Former Virginia Attorney General and failed gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli is selling retainers for his legal services just in case you happen to shoot somebody.
“A legal retainer with Virginia Self Defense Law costs as little as $8.33 a month — less than half the cost of a hunting license,” the firm’s Web site says. “Don’t be a victim! Don’t let these realities become your family’s fiscal nightmare!” For that price, the firm promises to defend clients facing firearms charges stemming from an act of self defense and those who have been “harassed by law enforcement for lawfully carrying their weapon.” The firm’s Web site links to news stories about cases in which gun owners were charged with crimes, under headlines such as “Man arrested in front of his son for ‘rudely displaying weapon’ ” and “Burglar’s family awarded $300,000 in wrongful death suit.” One of the stories featured is about the legal bills racked up by George Zimmerman, the Florida man acquitted in July in the shooting death of an unarmed teenager.
Pricing varies if you are an NRA member or a police officer.

LZ Granderson Destroys The Cooch

Mediaite recaps the mayhem:
Crossfire got really heated up Tuesday over the Arizona bill that would allow businesses to refuse service to LGBT individuals. Van Jones posed a provocative question to former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli: “What is the difference between a business owner saying no blacks are allowed here versus no gays are allowed here?” Cuccinelli dismissed the comparison, but CNN columnist LZ Granderson insisted the principle is the same because the bill is just “straight-up, plain nothing but discrimination!” He told Cuccinelli that it’s not a matter of religious principle, it’s always about protecting the Christian faith, and called him and others out for pushing what he deemed institutionalized homophobia.
You WILL enjoy this.

Quote Of The Day - Danita Kilcullen

"We must fight with all we have. We must put pressure on the House like has never been seen before. I'll be damned if I will ever be forced to hire someone with orange hair, body/neck/face covered with tattoos, multiple piercings, or a man in a dress... or for that matter, a demonstrative effeminate male or purposeful butch-looking female. The Log Cabins are the same lobbyist organization that has all but taken over [Broward Republican Executive Committee]; and besides that, we have someone on the Board of BREC who is using her position to openly put pressure on some BREC members to stand for same-sex marriage. This is the same group who, based on nothing other than his recent stand for gay marriage, supports Chris Christie and who publicly worked against Cuccinelli for his stand for traditional marriage. Keep in mind, this is a thug organization with only their own 'special interests' in play." - Danita Kilcullen, co-founder of Tea Party Fort Lauderdale.

Maggie Gallagher Has The Virginia Sadz

"They said he was 'unelectable. The RNC put only $3 million into this race. Ken was outspent by a margin of something between 4:1 and 10:1, if you believe the Associated Press. The Democrats poured everything into trying to lie to voters and portray Cuccinelli as an extremist — and they barely pulled this one out. Would another $3 million have swung 50,000 votes? The Republicans, starting with Bill Bolling, who undercut Cuccinelli as unelectable have egg all over their faces." - Maggie Gallagher, writing for the National Review. (Tipped by JMG reader Chris)

Teabagistan Vs GOProud

"Jimmy LaSalvia of or formerly of GOProud is on Facebook letting everyone know Ken Cuccinelli is the 2013 equivalent of David Duke. Because two dudes not being able to buy a china pattern together is the same as not being able to vote, being forced to use separate bathrooms, and being attacked by fire hoses and dogs in the streets. His GOProud partner, Chris Barron went on twitter to declare he voted in Virginia for the Democrat, Terry McAuliffe. When I have pointed out before that GOProud really isn’t a part of the Republican coalition, I was met with calls of homophobia. But they have never been a part of the coalition. It’s worth remembering that today the founders of GOProud equate a small government conservative to a Grand Dragon of the KKK because his Christian faith is, in their mind, equivalent to the Klan. It’s also worth pointing out that folks affiliated with this group have routinely assailed conservatives for their purity tests — conservatives who routinely vote in the general election for the Republican; an action they themselves won’t do." - Erick Erickson, writing for Red State.

Breitbart: Democrats Sabotaged The Cooch With The Libertarian Candidate

For months the Tea People have been screaming the Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis is Nader-ing Ken Cuccinelli out of the governor's mansion. Today on Breitbart:
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Tuesday, Wes Benedict, co-founder and President of the Libertarian Booster PAC that spent $11,454 to circulate petitions necessary to get Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Robert Sarvis on the ballot in Virginia said "[w]e probably wouldn’t have spent the $11,000 on Sarvis if we had not received the $150,000 from him [major Democratic donor Joseph Liemandt].” We’ve gotten support from the right and the left," Benedict said, adding that "I don’t think the intention was to make Cuccinelli lose but I have no problem if the perception is Sarvis caused Cuccinelli to lose. Republicans deserve to lose lots of election for supporting bailouts and for supporting a nominee for president whose Romneycare plan helped deliver Obamacare."
From the comments at the above-linked article: "I still find it interesting that Republican votes are syphoned off by a Libertarian who is pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro gun control, pro legal drugs, pro immigration reform, and pro small military. Just what did he offer to Cooch voters? Or did they just hate Cooch that much?"

Rand Paul Plagiarizes Wikipedia In Virginia Stump Speech For Ken Cuccinelli

Mediaite reports:
Sometimes political candidates screw up on the campaign trail. They might make a gaffe or two during a speech, but it’s the rare politician indeed who plagiarizes off of WIkpedia. And that’s exactly what Rachel Maddow caught Senator Rand Paul doing at a speech in Virginia, in which he lifted parts of the Wikipedia entry on… the movie Gattaca. Maddow found this to be obviously strange, especially coming from someone “trying to be a candidate for president, which Rand Paul’s trying to do, and thinking that you’re going to get away from lifting your speeches from Wikipedia while you’re doing that.”
Some of the Tea People are claiming that the Wikipedia page was edited to match Paul's speech.

VIRGINIA: Democrats Yank Anti-Cuccinelli "Oral Sex" Posters From College Campus

The Washington Post reports:
Both posters say at the bottom that they were paid for by “Education Votes, a project of the Democratic Party of Virginia.” They were distributed to other campuses around the state, too, but DPV spokesman Brian Coy said the party has had a change of heart. “While we feel Virginians deserve to know the truth about Ken Cuccinelli’s extreme social agenda, we apologize to those who were offended,” Coy said. “We’re working to remove these posters from the campuses in question and they will not be used again.”

Garren Shipley, a spokesman for the Republican Party of Virginia, called the posters “par for the course” for Virginia Democrats. “Not only does it repeat this thoroughly-debunked Terry McAuliffe falsehood,” Shipley said, “but it manages to do it in an even more crass and tasteless way than before. Mailers and posters like this are what you get when your candidates have no record to run on. The Democratic Party of Virginia should be ashamed. But they’re probably not.”
I would love to have one of these posters.

VA Poll: Cooch Slips To 9 Points Behind

The same day that the US Supreme Court slapped down his appeal to reinstate a ban on sodomy, a new poll was released showing that Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has slipped to 9 points behind Democratic challenger Terry McAuliffe. As you can see, Libertarian Party candidate Robert Sarvis is continuing to Naderize the result.

SCOTUS Rejects Virginia Sodomy Case

The US Supreme Court today refused to hear the appeal of Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who lost an earlier suit to reinstate the ban on sodomy.
The high court on Monday refused to hear from Virginia state officials who wanted to get the state's ban on oral and anal sex reinstated. In March, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond declared Virginia's law unconstitutional. In 2005, a judge convicted William Scott MacDonald of criminal solicitation for allegedly demanding oral sex from a 17-year-old girl. His conviction occurred two years after the landmark Lawrence v. Texas decision effectively struck down anti-sodomy laws in that state and several others. Virginia officials said the Texas ruling did not apply to sex acts between adults and minors. The lower court rejected that interpretation and justices won't reconsider that decision.
Suck it, Cooch. No, really. It's legal.
