Bill Donohue Vs Bill Maher
"According to Maher’s logic, Africans in South Africa who lived under apartheid had no basis to complain because they constituted more than 90 percent of the nation. What matters is not the demographics of the population but whether the nation’s elites are working to undermine the norms and values of the majority. If the political and cultural elites bear an animus against the majority, that is not without consequence. Anyone who thinks that Christian bashing is not alive and well—at the federal, state, and local levels—is delusional. That it thrives in cultural institutions such as the arts, education, the entertainment industry, and the media is indisputable. Maher can verify the accuracy of my position by accessing the Catholic League’s annual reports on anti-Catholicism, our news releases, and our monthly journal, Catalyst; all are available online. Indeed, he will find there are dozens of entries that bear his name." - Bill Donohue, responding to Bill Maher's demand that social conservatives "stop these phony claims of Christian persecution."

Bill Maher Launches 4/20 Holiday Petition
From the petition:
Now that marijuana is legal in one form or another in 24 states and counting, I’m here to urge you to sign my petition to make 4/20 a national holiday. We celebrate everything from Arbor Day to Groundhog Day to a National Day of Prayer. It’s high time we had a weed day. Because if we can set days aside to pay tribute to trees, a rodent or a space ghost, we can certainly designate one day to officially recognize a true American institution. Sign my petition and make 4/20 a national holiday.

Bill Maher On Obama's Legacy
"You sometimes hear people, even Democrats, say, 'I’m tired of Obama because he didn’t live up to his promises.' I say, 'Are you sure about that? Maybe they just didn’t cover it on TMZ.' Because Obama is slowly going down the list: Cuba, gay marriage and, I’m hoping before he leaves, pot. He’s trying to finish strong. Obama should be a better bragger. He needs to start acting like he won the last election instead of lost it. If the Republicans had his record, they’d be riding it like a fuckin’ wild bronco into the 2016 election. Their attitude would be, 'Why even have an election? We’ve tripled the stock market, unemployment is below six percent, 10 million more people have health insurance, the auto industry is back on its feet.' Oh, and he averted a depression." - Bill Maher, speaking to Playboy Magazine.

Bill Maher On Religous Fundamentalism
Raw Story has a recap:
“On the one hand, clearly God has spelled it out — He hates f*gs,” Maher said. “But you like your gay neighbors Rob and Larry. But the Bible tells you to kill them. Yes, it literally says kill them. What to do?” He then chided California attorney Matt McLaughlin and his “Sodomite Suppression Act,” calling it the latest in a long tradition of anti-LGBT rhetoric equating homosexuality with a Biblical apocalypse. “Take fundamentalists at their word. They fundamentally believe this stuff,” Maher explained. “And if you believe that God wiped out Sodom and Gomorrah for being too gay, then yeah, He must be itching to hit West Hollywood.” He then veered into another criticism of Islam, asking his audience to imagine a country full of people like McLaughlin. “Well there is, it’s called Saudi Arabia. It’s called Iran. It’s called Pakistan,” Maher said. “I could go on. But suffice it to say that in many Muslim countries, you wouldn’t have to work hard at all to get signatures on your ‘Kill All The Gays’ ballot initiative. In 10 such countries, it’s already the law.”

Quote Of The Day - Tristan Emmanuel
"In both Britain and Canada, for example, we still had blasphemy laws on the books no less then ten years ago. The penalties - the penal sanctions - were fines and possible imprisonment, not hangings and whippings, but this is beside the point. [snip] One can advocate for the law principle, while not advocating for a particular type of punishment, which historically was left to the discretion of the courts. At any rate you so-called Christians helped to prove my point perfectly. You do not care about God’s honour and yet you have the audacity to call yourselves Christians. Therefore I say again, America, and especially American Evangelicalism, is hanging on by a thin thread. Don’t be surprised if God sends an unlikely candidate to judge your lawless society." - Tristan Emmanuel, telling fellow Christians that God will smite them (or something) for denouncing last week's column in which he lamented that Bill Maher can't be punished for blasphemy. As for the atheists that reacted to that column, they are "children of the Devil" who are spreading the lie that Emmanuel wants Maher publicly whipped when really, just a nice long prison sentence would do.

Matt Barber's Website: Bill Maher Should Be Publicly Whipped For Blasphemy
"I think it’s time to bring back blasphemy laws. Bill Maher is known for being an offensive anti-Christian bigot. It’s his trademark. But this time he’s gone too far. He may have protection under the First Amendment to say whatever slanderous thing that comes out of his toilet bowl brain, but that does not mean Christians should turn the other cheek. Here is an example of how America once dealt with the likes of Bill Maher. 'By whipping; boaring thorow the tongue, with a red hot iron; or sitting upon the gallows with a rope about their neck; at the discretion of the court.' America is hanging on by a thin thread of long-suffering divine justice. The pugnacious degenerate Bill Maher may think blasphemy is a laughing matter. The nation of America may think it can hide behind the First Amendment. And Christians may falsely think they are demonstrating Christlike love by remaining quiet in the face of profligate profanity. But mark my word, a day of reckoning is coming." - Tristan Emmanuel, in a post on Matt Barber's website.
The post has rocketed around the net since yesterday.

Ken Ham: Bill Maher Is Taunting God To Smite Him For Blasphemy
"Why does God allow Bill Maher to continue his increasing God-hating comments? He really is tempting God. It’s as if he’s saying, 'Come on God, I’m saying more and more outrageous things about You—come on—come and get me!' Bill Maher is blaming God for death because he does not want to accept that he is a sinner in need of salvation. He wants to be his own god—he shakes his fist at the God who created man and also provides the gift of salvation for those who will receive it. We need to pray for Bill Maher. In his present spiritual state, he will not only die once but twice: 'But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death' (Revelation 21:8). I truly fear for Bill Maher’s soul." - Creation Museum head Ken Ham, writing for Answers In Genesis.

God Hasn't Murdered Bill Maher (Yet) Because He's Been Given Time To Repent
On his HBO show on Friday night, Bill Maher used the movie Noah as a springboard to denounce the concept of a loving God. According to Maher, the bible actually depicts God as a "psychotic mass murderer." Enter, predictably, Bryan Fischer.

Bill Maher To Ask Viewers To Help Him Unseat The Worst Member Of Congress
On tonight's episode of his HBO show, Bill Maher will announced a plan to oust the "worst sitting member of Congress." Via the New York Times:
Mr. Maher and his staff plan to ask viewers to make a case for their individual representatives in the House to be selected as the worst in the country. After some culling and analysis, one member of Congress will be selected, and the show will follow up through November with examples of what it considers terrible work by that representative. Mr. Maher will make occasional visits to that member’s district to perform stand-up and generally stir up hostile feelings toward the show’s target. “This year, we are going to be entering into the exciting world of outright meddling with the political process,” Mr. Maher said in an email message. The project — which the show is calling the “flip the district” campaign — is intended to get real results, said Scott Carter, the show’s executive producer. Among the criteria for selecting a representative, other than some degree of outrageousness in statements or voting record, is that the member be in a truly competitive race. Those running unopposed will not be selected, no matter how egregious the show’s fans may claim them to be. “We want the chance to win,” Mr. Carter said. The choice may be a Republican or a Democrat, though he acknowledged, “with our viewers voting, I imagine it is much more likely we will pick a Republican.”Oh, WHO to vote for? Louie Gohmert? We can't vote for Crazy Eyes - she's retiring. Let's hear your choices.

Bill Donohue: Cancel Bill Maher
"The board of directors at Time Warner cannot distance themselves from Bill Maher any longer. On Friday night, Maher teed up Dan Savage, another anti-Catholic bigot. What happened was particularly vicious. Maher commented on gay couples who adopt children, alleging that a Hawaiian bishop said these kids had a greater chance of committing suicide. Here is how Savage responded: 'That’s total bulls***. He’s confusing children of gay parents with children who are raped by Catholic priests. Sorry, I am just done being lectured about children and their safety by Catholic-f***ing bishops, priests, cardinals.' Shortly thereafter, Savage again remarked about 'kiddie-f***ing Catholic priests.' We are sending to every member of Time Warner’s board of directors a copy of 54 anti-Catholic statements made by Bill Maher on TV. Friday’s show concluded the season. The time has come to close this show once and for all." - Catholic League blowhard Bill Donohue. TMZ has picked up his demand.

Dan Savage Goes Off On Mary Cheney
Dan Savage went ballistic on Mary Cheney last night on Bill Maher's Real Time.
While Liz Cheney faces an uphill climb in her bid for a senatorial seat in Wyoming, Savage said, Mary Cheney still had a history of supporting not just her father during his tenure as vice president, but 2012 Republican presidential Mitt Romney. Savage repeatedly mentioned that Mary Cheney both voted for Romney and donated $2,500 to his campaign. “Unlike her sister, Liz, who’s saying ‘it’s a state issue,’ Romney wanted to rewrite the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage in every state, even overturning gay marriages in states where it had already been legalized,” Savage said. “Romney was 1,000 times worse than Liz, and Mary wrote that fucker a check.”There's also a rather delicious attack on "kiddie-fucking Catholic priests." You'll enjoy this.

Bill Maher On Christian Values
Mediaite recaps:
Bill Maher ended his show Friday night with a blistering takedown of religious people who would love to do things like take care of the starving and needy if it weren’t always for some personal conflict getting in the way. Maher said these Christians should “just admit you’re selfish” and come to terms with the fact that their actions do not “mirror the spirit of Jesus.” Maher mocked the Christian message of “I believe in charity, just not for people who need it” and concluded that “there’s always a good moral Christian to tell everyone you meet to fuck off and die.”

Quote Of The Day - Bill Maher
"I saw in the news that Michelle Obama has a new program. You know she tried to get kids to eat better and Republicans were against that. And now she wants people to hydrate more, I’m not kidding, she says ‘Drink more water.’ I think this is a test to see if the Republicans will come out against water. That’s not water, that’s socialism juice!" - Bill Maher, speaking Friday on his HBO show.
Of course, the wingnuts already have come out against drinking water. Rush Limbaugh, in a piece that calls the First Lady "Moochelle": "We have real trouble, real problems in this country and around the world. What is this push to drink more water? Now, we know that Bloomberg doesn't want people drink sweetened soft drinks, limiting the size to 16 ounces. I'll tell you what I think it is. I think there's an all-out assault on soda pop, soft drinks."

Dan Savage On Bill Maher
Grover Norquist (above) wasn't too happy with a joke Dan Savage made on last night's Bill Maher show. Mediaite has a recap:
Savage credited all of the people brave enough to come out to their families as one of the biggest contributing factors to the social progress that’s been made in the United States. One significant achievement was that, while years ago, “if one of those douchebags who’s always threatening to kill me made good on it,” as Savage put it, his family would not get the same kind of benefits straight couples would when one of the partners dies.
He also said how whenever he has people come up to him and tell him that gay people cannot biologically produce a child, he just tells them “Anything is possible for God,” and “I’m gonna keep inseminating my husband and keep my fingers crossed.” The camera jumped to a one shot of conservative guest Grover Norquist looking visibly uncomfortable, leading Maher to quip that Savage should move on so as not to induce any actual vomiting.
