Dan Savage To Bullied LGBT Students: Tell The Bullies That Homophobia Is Gay

Last week students at a Pennsylvania high school protested against the Day Of Silence by writing "Anti-Gay Day" on their hands, by posting bible verses to their social media accounts, and by wearing flannel shirts as a show of anti-gay solidarity. They also reportedly distributed a "lynch list" of students that participated in the Day Of Silence and defaced some of their lockers. Today Dan Savage points out a well-known study which reveals that homophobic people very often have strong erotic response to gay porn. Here is his suggestion to the LGBT students at that school:
Here's my advice for LGBT students and allies at McGuffey High: Print out a few hundred copies of the abstract of the study I quoted from above—a reputable, peer-reviewed study published by the National Institutes of Health—and highlight the same parts I bolded. Then tape copies of the highlighted abstract to the lockers of all the boys who participated in "Anti-Gay Day" and hand out copies to everyone else at your school. Will you be accusing the boys who wore flannel, assaulted queer students, posted antigay Bible verses on your lockers, and passed out that a "lynch list" of being gay themselves? Yes. Does that mean you're throwing "gay" around in an accusatory way? Yes. Does that mean you're accepting, for sake of argument, the homophobe's central premise, i.e., that there's something wrong with being gay? Yes it does. But sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. [snip] By letting the entire student body know that science says being a homophobe is totally gay—gay as in the turned-on-by-homosexual-stimuli sense, not the gay-as-in-that-is-so-lame sense—will make these boys less likely to attack you. Because homophobia is gay.

Satan Loves The Day Of Silence

"It’s over for another year, but a sobering question should make every teacher, administrator and parent pause: what would Jesus think about the pro-homosexual Day of Silence? What would Jesus have said to those encouraging boys to deny manhood and believe the lie of effemininity? What would He say as girls are pushed toward that glorious day when they are old enough for amputation of healthy breasts and hormones to grow beards? Would the Lord nod in agreement with those who say it’s 'hate' to object to such harmful messages? Only Satan could write this stuff. The author of confusion has certainly devised a way to enter the public schools and paint faithful Christians as the enemy and advocates of deviance as heroes protecting children. At the name of Christ, Satan will flee, if schools would only call on Him." - Hate group leader Linda Harvey, writing for BarbWire.

Today: GLSEN's Day Of Silence

GLSEN's annual anti-bullying Day Of Silence is today and as in years past hate groups nationwide are urging parents to keep their kids out of school. Save California is pitching this year's Day Of Silence as an opportunity for parents to "experience the joys and freedoms of homeschooling for at least a day."

Concernstipated Women: GLSEN's Day Of Silence Stifles Our Right To Bully

"On the Day of Silence, GLSEN encourages students to go to school and remain silent all day. Their website says the day seeks to 'call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools.' And therein lies the irony, doesn’t it? In light of all we know today, how the pro-LGBT radicals are bullying Christians into silence, it is almost comical to hear this propaganda still being peddled to our children. If we want to talk about a silencing effect, we can talk about the recent Indiana brouhaha and the ensuing hysteria over Memories Pizza owner Crystal O’Connor telling a viciously deceptive reporter they could not cater a same-sex 'wedding' because it would conflict with their religious beliefs. How about the silencing of Mozilla’s former CEO, Brendan Eich? Or the bullying of Barronelle Stutzman, the florist who is at risk of losing everything she has, including her home, her family business, and her life savings, because of her religious beliefs on marriage? We are at the point where they are ready to put Christians in jail if they don’t abide by the pro-LGBT mantra." - Concernstipated Women head Penny Nance, writing for Breitbart.

Linda Harvey Is Sick Of Talking About You

"Enough is enough. Have you noticed that the promotion of homosexuality seems to be almost everywhere you look these days? From movies and TV shows to commercials, mass-market paperback novels and even children’s media. As you’ve heard me say many times, the topic of sexual deviance has sadly permeated the climate of our public schools. The mainstream media breathlessly covers homosexual so-called rights as an issue way out of proportion to its relative importance. When the Supreme Court struck down portions of state and national marriage laws last summer, you’d think the first person had landed on Mars. Meanwhile, much more important issues like human trafficking, child abuse or the daily slaughter of unborn babies in this country get little attention. The only thing that will overcome this darkness is for parents to stand up, even if it’s uncomfortable. It’s not hateful to do so and your willingness to draw the line in the sand and say no to homosexual propaganda may be the action that saves a life." - Hate group leader Linda Harvey, speaking on her radio show last Friday, the Day Of Silence.

TODAY: Day Of Silence 2014

GLSEN's annual anti-bullying Day Of Silence is today. The usual crackpots have encouraged Christian parents to keep their kids out of school today and nearly 40 anti-gay groups have signed on to the below "walkout" message from the Illinois Family Institute.
The explicit purpose of DOS is to encourage sympathy and support for students involved in homosexual and cross-dressing behaviors whose voices have been allegedly silenced by the disapproval f society. The implicit purpose is to undermine the belief that homosexuality and cross-dressing are immoral. Parents should no longer passively countenance the political usurpation of public school classrooms through student silence.
Parents should call their children’s middle schools and high schools to ask whether the administration and/or teachers will be permitting students to remain silent during class on the Day of Silence. If students will be permitted to remain silent, parents can express their opposition most effectively by calling their children out of school on the Day of Silence and sending letters of explanation to their administrators, their children’s teachers, and all school board members. One reason this is effective is that most school districts lose money for each student absence.

Linda Harvey: GLSEN's Anti-Bullying Day Of Silence Propaganda Dishonors God

"The Day of Silence is sadly a day of pro-homosexual propaganda in schools. Students pledge to remain silent all day in order to protest what they believe has been the silencing of homosexuals and bullying that isn’t being punished, those who choose to be homosexual or switch genders are the victims and we’re all bullies or potential bullies if we don’t accept this premise. But we should not accept this premise because it wrongly communicates that homosexuality is honorable and respectable and that it’s inborn like race. But that’s’ not true. No one, especially young people, should take on this identity and behavior. It’s a high-risk life that dishonors God and the way He created us." - Linda Harvey, speaking yesterday on her radio show. The Day Of Silence is this Friday.

Focus On The Family: More Christian Tips On How To Bully LGBT Students

As I noted last month, Focus On The Family is gearing up for their so-called Day Of Dialogue, which was created several years ago to counter GLSEN's anti-bullying Day Of Silence, which takes place this year on April 11th. Previous Day Of Silence protests have included walkouts by Christian students, protests by church groups, and email campaigns to public school districts. Day Of Silence walkouts were promoted again last year by the American Family Association, which issued a call to its millions of followers, telling parents to pull their kids out of school and to write complaining letters to teachers and principals.

Focus On The Family has created a website where students can download proselytizing flyers to be handed out at public schools on the Day Of Dialogue. As you can see above, the flyers laughably claim that their campaign opposes bullying and feature a QR code which links to their "ex-gay" brainwashing clips. FOTF has also posted several pre-event training videos, such as the new one below, in which Christian students role play how to "respectfully" tell gay kids that they are bound for an eternity in a lake of fire. But that's not bullying in the world of anti-gay hate groups, that's doing those confronted children a favor.

TODAY: Day Of Silence

Today is GLSEN's annual Day Of Silence and dozens of anti-gay groups have demanded that Christian parents keep their kids out of school rather than learn that it's wrong to beat up gay kids.  From the SPLC-certified hate group, the Illinois Family Institute:
Parents and Guardians: Call your children’s middle and high schools and ask if students and/or teachers will be permitted to refuse to speak during class on Friday, April 19, 2013. If your administration allows students and/or teachers to refuse to speak during class, call your child out of school. Every student absence costs school districts money. When administrators refuse to listen to reason and when they allow the classroom to be exploited for political purposes, parents must take action.
Yup. They literally want to deprive schools of money over this.
