Note the wrong date. The Tyranny Response Team has tangled with law enforcement during anti-Obama protests and they apparently often show up when there is civil unrest or protests organized by progressives. Last year DC's open carry ban was struck down so you have to wonder if they'll be armed at the Supreme Court tomorrow.

Left-Leaning Catholic Site Suspends Comments After "Appalling" Messages

The left-leaning National Catholic Reporter, whose even-handed articles on LGBT issues have been excerpted here on JMG over the years, has suspended all commenting on its site.

We ordered our Web editor to suspend the commenting feature and to hide all previously posted comments because of the malicious, abusive nature of the comments that have bombarded our site in recent days. Comments will be suspended indefinitely. NCR editors will explore options that will allow commenting to return in a way that respects our writers, the subjects of our stories, and our readers. Unfortunately, we have reached a point where the good that an open discussion can do is being outpaced by the damage it can cause when commenters do not respect civil discourse. Comments that have appeared on the website in recent days have been vile and demeaning. We could no longer support hosting a Web feature that allows such despicable comments to appear, and that is why we ordered the suspension of that feature. We apologize to anyone who was offended by these appalling comments.

Free Republic regularly sics its readers on the site and today their commenters are celebrating.

Post topics particularly at issue were about the Boy Scouts' policy on homosexuality, an LGBT minor offered at a Catholic university, and the death of a priest who promoted homosexual marriage. Perhaps it was the recent Duck Dynasty story that gave voice to the previously silent posters, calling attention to the acts of sodomy that homosexuals adopt as their identity and which attention homosexuals would rather not be mentioned. Whatever the case, the comments weren't so much derogatory as they were sexually graphic in nature, and that is what, ironically, the editorial staff apparently found disgusting and vile.

Right Wing Sites Post Facebook Page Of Alleged Boston "Person Of Interest," Commenters Claim He Is Gay Or Bisexual

Multiple right wing sites such as Free Republic, Townhall, and Gateway Pundit are today posting information from the Facebook page of a 20 year-old Saudi national whom they claim is being "guarded by federal agents" in a Boston hospital as a "person of interest" in the Boston bombings.  The FBI and other law enforcement agencies continue to say that they have no one in custody and no suspects.

Commenters on Free Republic and elsewhere are declaring that this "person of interest" is a gay or bisexual man, citing his posted interested in "men and women" and noting that he vacationed in Key West three months ago and has "liked" the Ellen Degeneres Show.  Many of the photos at the Facebook page feature flowers and shots of an amusement park.

Fox News has posted an unsourced report.

A source close to the investigation confirms to FoxNews.com the man whose apartment was searched is considered a person of interest in the case, and is the same person of interest Fox News confirmed earlier authorities are guarding at a local hospital. The source confirmed to FoxNews.com that the person of interest is Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, a 20-year-old Saudi. His Facebook page identifies him as a current or former student at the New England School of English. He is believed to have entered the country on a student visa. The source stressed that Alharbi is a person of interest, not a suspect, and said he suffered serious injuries in the explosion.

Following the twin blasts at the Boston Marathon that has claimed two lives and dozens injured, a Saudi national is being held in custody in relation to the incident who was near the scene of the blast, CBS News correspondent John Miller reported. Law enforcement sources told Miller a witness saw a person acting suspiciously when the explosions happened along the marathon route.

"They see him running away from the device," said Miller. "Now, a reasonable person would be running away. But this person had noticed him before. This is a civilian -- chases him down, tackles him, turns him over to the Boston police. The individual is being looked at [and] was suffering from burn injury. That means this person was pretty close to wherever this blast went off, but not so close as to suffer the serious injuries that other people did."

Authorities told Miller that the person in custody is not charged and not under arrest. He is being cooperative, answering their questions, and denying involvement. They'll likely be going over this person's communications and examine every aspect of his life, as well as talk to the witness who tackled him to find out what the person of interest did that seemed suspicious.

It is indeed possible that this person is a gay or bisexual man, but there is no indication at this point that he was anything more than just another unfortunate spectator. But try telling that to the citizens of Teabagistan.

Free Republic crashed four days ago and is still not back at this writing.  Some Freepers have taken to the site's Facebook page to question where all their money goes as the site runs quarterly "Freepathon" donation drives.  Sample comment:

I have been a long time supporter of FR. It is times like these that are very frustrating to witness. An operation that brings in this much money in 4 quarterly donation drives should not crash for days or hell even hours. I mean no disrespect here and I have been a Freeper since 1999. While I've been a FReeper for well over a decade, I must declare that it is time to part ways. While I have the greatest respect for a great many of you, the days where I can in good conscience remain silent about the issues that set me apart from the rest of FReeperdom have past. For clarity, or perhaps catharsis, I'm not entirely certain which, I'll lay them out on the table an call the ZOT™ down upon myself.

The racism: I just can't handle it anymore. FR has become increasingly racist since President Obama took office, and enforcement has dropped. Now, not a single crime can be reported with an "amish" comment, and I've yet to see a post express embarrassment or shame when lo and behold sometimes the perpetrators turned out to be lily white.

Homosexuality: FR is on the wrong side of history on this one, and I'll just leave it at that. Mostly though, it's the hate. More and more posts reference violent solutions to political disagreements. Some subtly couched, others make no pretense. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I read in the morning paper that a FReeper murdered a federal bureaucrat or a federal judge.

The "ZOT" he refers to is the Free Republic term for permanent banishment when participants say anything outside of Tea Party dogma.

Activists Flip-Off Reagan Portrait During White House LGBT Pride Reception

Free Republic, Glenn Beck's The Blaze, and other wingnuts sites are going nuts today on the news that several LGBT activists visiting the White House for the Pride reception took turns photographing themselves flipping off the Reagan portrait. The photos were published this morning by Philadelphia Magazine, but thanks to closet-case Matt Drudge's screaming WWIII-style headline, the title's site has crashed. The right-wing Weekly Standard has a quote from one of the activists that took part:

[Matthew] Hart posted his photo on Facebook with the caption, “Fuck Reagan.” [Zoe] Strauss simply posted hers without commentary. After all, the murderous facial expression and double-barreled bird-flipping seem to speak for themselves. Comments ranged from “you forgot to add with a chainsaw” on Hart’s “Fuck Reagan” note, to my personal favorite, “star wars … up yours,” on Strauss’s. “Yeah, fuck Reagan,” reiterates Hart one week after the reception. “Ronald Reagan has blood on his hands. The man was in the WhiteHouse as AIDS exploded, and he was happy to see plenty of gay men and queer people die. He was a murderous fool, and I have no problem saying so. Don’t invite me back. I don’t care.”
