Manhattan nightlife and sex party promoter Daniel Nardicio is reporting on his Facebook page that Iris Robinson's boytoy, the now 21 years old Kirk McCambley, has signed to do a photo-layout for Playgirl. Nardicio also handled Levi Johnston's hotly awaited, but poorly received photo spread for the title. Since the scandal broke, McCambley has become a minor sensation in the UK, fielding offers from the gay glossy Attitude and becoming the subject of numerous Facebook fan pages, where "Team Kirk" tshirts are now being sold.

CougarGate: Homophobe Iris Robinson Resigns From Parliament

Iris Robinson, the UK's most infamous homophobe, has resigned from Parliament in the wake of the scandal surrounding her multiple incidences of adultery and financial impropriety.

Northern Ireland MP Iris Robinson resigned from Westminster yesterday after it was revealed last week that she had solicited loans for her 19-year-old lover. Robinson was expected to stay on as MP for Strangford until May, but a statement from the Treasury confirmed she had left. It read: "The chancellor of the exchequer has this day appointed Iris Robinson to be Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern." MPs are not allowed to resign, so instead they are appointed to an office of the Crown, which the Three Hundreds of Chiltern are reserved for. Robinson was expelled from the Democratic Unionist Party last week and has also stood down as an Assembly member.

Robinson's husband has taken a six week leave from his position as Northern Ireland's First Minister. The scandal threatens to bring down Northern Ireland's wobbly coalition government and return the nation to sectarian conflict. Iris Robinson is said to remain in a Belfast hospital undergoing "acute psychiatric care."

Peter Robinson Steps Down Temporarily, Iris Remains In Psychiatric Hospital

Northern Ireland First Minister Peter Robinson is stepping down for six weeks, the maximum time allowed, while he sorts out the sexual and financial scandal shrouding he and his wife. Last night Iris Robinson was admitted to a Belfast hospital for "acute psychiatric care."

Mr Robinson has designated Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster to take charge in the interim. Earlier, the DUP's full assembly team offered him their "wholehearted support" as he faced pressure to quit as NI First Minister. It follows a BBC Spotlight programme on his wife, Iris. On Monday, DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds said Mr Robinson had the party's "wholehearted support" and they wished him to remain as their leader. He was speaking as the first minister prepared to answer urgent questions at a special session of the NI Assembly. Under assembly rules, the first minister can step aside and designate a replacement for up to six weeks. After this, any changes must be referred back to the assembly for ratification.

Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams: "This is not about the Robinsons' private family matters. It is about implementing outstanding political agreements that are essential to good government and public confidence."

CougarGate: Iris Did Kirk's DAD Too, Scandal May Bring Down Government

Can it possibly get any sleazier? Iris Robinson, the UK's most infamous homophobe, not only fucked 19 year-old Kirk McCambley, she fucked his father too! The scandal now threatens to bring down Robinson's husband Peter, the First Minister of Northern Ireland, and the entire coalition government he heads.

The sex scandal that has transfixed Northern Ireland in recent days has a cinematic echo: a 60-year-old Mrs. Robinson who was caught in an affair with a man who was 19 at the time, and is now at the center of a scandal that threatens to bring down the power-sharing government that has steered the province out of 30 years of sectarian bloodshed. Predictably, local newspaper headline writers and bloggers have resorted to catchphrases like “Here’s to you, Mrs. Robinson,” borrowed from the song in the 1967 film “The Graduate.” But the storyline unfolding in Belfast has a more serious edge because this Mrs. Robinson, Iris, a stridently moralistic lawmaker, is the wife of the province’s unionist first minister, Peter Robinson, who is now struggling to keep his job. The revelations come at a critical time, when the mostly Protestant unionists and mostly Catholic republicans are in increasingly bitter discussions about how to put in place one of the last and most difficult pieces of the United States-brokered power-sharing agreement: the transfer of police and justice powers in the province from British officials to the unity government.

We may be seeing the first ever incidence of an entire government brought down by homophobia. The investigation into Iris Robinson's past would surely not have happened had she not gone on national radio to declare that gays were perverted abominations.

UPDATE: The Times Online reports that when her affair with 19 year-old Kirk ended, she demanded that he repay the entire £45,000. Half of that money was to go to her evangelical church.

When the affair ended that autumn, Robinson demanded the money be paid back to her personally from the fledgling business, forcing McCambley to sell half of it. “It seems cruel but I am not going to soften until he has paid back the £45,000 and he has got until Christmas,” she texted. She also lamented her affair with a text that read: “Everything is a reminder wherever I go. My home, my church, my car, my music and of course the roads we drove.” As the deadline for repayment approached, she stipulated that there should be two cheques, one made out to her and one to the Free Methodist Church she attended, where the minister was Pat Herron, her sister-in-law. She also asked that one third of the profits of the cafe be paid into church funds. Black, the former clergyman who revealed the texts, was asked to assist. Disturbed at being asked to act as a fixer in the affair, he said: “Where is God in all this?” Robinson explained that she had proposed the payment to the church as “a gesture of giving something back. I never intended this to be a buy-off to God. It was an honest and honourable decision”. Herron says that her church never received any money.

The BBC is now reporting that Iris Robinson has been hospitalized for "acute psychiatric treatment." On Twitter some are claiming that she has been "sectioned," the British term for compulsory confinement due to mental illness.

CougarGate: Iris Robinson Took Thousands In Kickbacks From Her 19 Year Old Boytoy

It just gets juicier. The most famous homophobe in the UK not only cheated on her husband with then 19 year-old Kirk McCambley, now it's alleged that she took thousands in kickbacks from the boy in return for funneling government money into his new restaurant.

The Northern Ireland MP broke parliamentary rules by not declaring her interest in the business, despite sitting on the council which awarded the money to Kirk McCambley, it was claimed. According to a BBC Spotlight programme broadcast last night, Mrs Robinson, 60, also demanded a £5,000 kickback from Mr McCambley for helping arrange the transaction. Today, her husband Peter Robinson, who is Northern Ireland's first minister, denied he had done anything wrong. It was claimed he knew about the solicitation and had demanded the return of the money, but had not alerted parliamentary authorities. Mr McCambley runs the the Lock Keepers Inn, a cafe in Lagan Valley regional park in south Belfast. The building in which the cafe is situated was built by Castlereagh Borough Council, on which Mrs Robinson sits as a councilor.

Meanwhile Robinson's young lover, now christened "Kirk Diggler" in reference to Mark Wahlberg's horse-cocked character in Boogie Nights, has become an instant folk hero in the UK, becoming the subject of numerous Facebook fan pages, most of which were created to mock Robinson. British gay glossy Attitude Magazine is offering young Kirk the cover of their next issue, calling him "incredibly hot." Additionally, a campaign is underway to make the 1968 Simon & Garfunkel classic, Mrs. Robinson, the #1 song on this week's UK pop chart, aided by a radio request effort and an iTunes download promotion. Nobody beats the Brits when it comes to schadenfreude. Nobody.

Anti-Gay Irish MP Iris Robinson's Adulterous Lover Was Under 21

Iris Robinson, the "Anita Bryant of the UK" who was mocked by floats of look-a-like drag queens during last year's Belfast Pride parade, not only was cheating on her husband at the same time she was on national radio called gays "abominations," she was committing that adultery with a young man said to be under 21 at the time. That would make Robinson three times his age.

News channel UTV, which broke the story of her affair and suicide attempt yesterday, reported the claim this evening. Robinson, who is 60, said the affair and suicide attempt took place in March 2008. She said the "brief" liaison began "completely innocently" when she offered support to someone who had suffered a family death. The man has not been named. She also revealed she had helped the man by encouraging friends to give him money for a financial venture. Earlier today, The Times reported that a BBC investigation into the finances of Robinson and her husband Peter, who is Northern Ireland's first minister, was what prompted her to reveal details of her affair and attempted suicide. The "embarrassing" television documentary was to be broadcast with allegations over the first family's financial affairs.

One Irish blog named the young man as Kirk McCambley, pictured above, and alleges that Robinson may have directed public money into supporting his cafe business. The BBC was said to be at the restaurant today with a camera crew, demanding answers.

Anti-Gay Irish MP Iris Robinson Committed Adultery While Calling Gays Abominations

Days after announcing that she was stepping down due to a lifelong battle with depression, anti-gay Northern Ireland MP Iris Robinson has revealed that she was committing adultery last year. She was cheating on her husband at the same time she was facing hate crimes charges for calling gays abominations on BBC Radio!

The wife of Northern Ireland's first minister, Peter Robinson, has said she tried to kill herself while suffering depression after she had an affair. Mr Robinson, leader of the DUP, said they would try to save their marriage. Iris Robinson announced in December she was stepping down from politics due to ill health. The couple were married in 1970 and have three grown-up children. Mr Robinson who has been first minister since June 2008, said he will continue in his job. In an interview on Wednesday, he said he first learned of the affair on March 1 2009, the night Mrs Robinson attempted suicide. Mr Robinson, who appeared close to tears, said he had been "deeply hurt" and that his immediate impulse had been to walk away from the marriage.

Anti-Gay Irish MP Quits Over Mental Illness

"I have a very lovely psychiatrist who works with me in my offices and his Christian background is that he tries to help homosexuals trying to turn away from what they are engaged in. And I have met people who have turned around to become heterosexual. I do not need to put my hand into the fire to know I will get burned. Homosexuality is not natural. My Christian beliefs tell me that it is an abomination and that is very clear. It is an offence to God, an offensive act and something that God abhors."

Iris Robinson, December 2009, announcing her resignation:

"I have battled against serious bouts of depression. Only those who have faced similar challenges in life will know the ordeal faced by those who are profoundly depressed and the distress caused to those around them as they grapple with personality changing illness. One in four of the population struggle with mental illnesses at one level or another yet few talk about it openly. When I am better able to do so, I want to say more about this period of my life. The stress and strain of public life comes at a cost and my health has suffered."

After her 2008 remarks, a campaign was launched to charge Robinson with hate speech under the UK's stringent laws regarding such comments. In June of this year, Ireland's Public Prosecution Service announced that they were no longer pursuing the case.

Northern Irish MP Escapes Hate Speech Charges For Calling Gays Abomination

Relevant to my earlier post today about hate speech laws in the UK, today Northern Ireland member of Parliament Iris Robinson escaped charges for calling homosexuality an abomination. The case has festered for nearly a year as LGBT groups lobbied for Robinson to be charged.

The Public Prosecution Service (PPS) in Northern Ireland confirmed today it was not proceeding with an investigation into the MP's comments. Robinson, who is married to Northern Ireland's first minister, Peter Robinson, also said gay people could be "cured" of their homosexuality by psychotherapy. Eighty complaints were made to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) accusing the Strangford MP of incitement to hatred. John O'Doherty, the equality officer for the gay rights Rainbow Project, who was one of the people who made a complaint, described the decision as "a complete miscarriage of justice". O'Doherty said: "It is our understanding that Mrs Robinson has not even been interviewed in relation to the allegations made against her. The legislation which we believe to have been broken by these actions clearly calls for intent.
