Bill Donohue: It Pays To Be Pro-Gay

"It pays culturally and economically to promote the interests of gays, but not Catholics. From Wall Street to Wal-Mart, most non-gay organizations across the nation have jumped on the gay bandwagon. Not to do so is to be culturally shunned and individually stigmatized. There is no such penalty for not supporting Catholics, and indeed there is little downside to bashing them. Just ask HBO. It also pays economically: on average, gays earn more than straights, and many lavishly grease these non-gay but gay-friendly groups. Consider the Gawker controversy. Gawker fired journalists who ran a story about a married man, Timothy Geithner’s brother (he is the CFO of Condé Nast) for allegedly soliciting sex from a male porn star. No one was fired for posting excerpts of a video showing Hulk Hogan having sex with a woman who was a friend of his wife (the wrestler is suing for $100 million). Gawker founder Nick Denton explained why he took down the story about Geithner: 'If the post had remained up, we probably would have triggered advertising losses this week into seven figures.' It pays to be pro-gay." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.

Bill Donohue Has The Archbishop Sadz

"Ever since Nienstedt criticized the gay movie, Brokeback Mountain, he has been a marked man. The Star Tribune, the St. Cloud Times, Minnesota Public Radio, the New York Times, as well as an array of wayward priests, Catholic journalists, former Catholics, and unethical lawyers, have been out to get him. Just today, Fr. Mike Tegeder said it was a good sign that Nienstedt resigned; Tegeder supports gay marriage. Nienstedt’s sin is that he is an orthodox Catholic. Nienstedt was twice accused of inappropriate touching, and twice the charges proved false. He is a good man who was unfairly treated." - Bill Donohue, on today's resignation by Archbishop John Niendstedt.

Bill Donohue Has The Religion Study Sadz

"The bad news is already dominating media reports: more Americans are religiously unaffiliated than ever before. The ranks of Protestants and Catholics are declining, and the percentage of atheists and agnostics are increasing. This is true across age groups, though it is most pronounced among young people. Most of those with no religious affiliation are neither atheist or agnostic: the majority of them identify as 'nothing in particular' (some of whom are believers). They might best be called the 'Whatever' generation. Look for many of the 'Whatevers' to eventually get anchored, though a large number of them are lost souls." - Catholic League blowhard Bill Donohue, reacting to today's study by Pew Research.

Bill Donohue: If Only All Christians Were Gay, Then Obama Would Have Their Back

"We know that President Obama is infinitely more sensitive to the concerns of Muslims than Christians. He cites Christians by name when he wants to blame them for some historical event, but he never mentions Muslims by name for their current slaughter of innocent Christians. His Secretary of State, John Kerry, is at one with him.

"Seven months ago, the Congress created a special envoy for religious minorities in the Middle East and South Central Asia. The State Department job remains unfilled, and no one has been named to assume the post. By contrast, two months ago the State Department named Randy Berry, a homosexual who claims to be married, to the spanking new job as special envoy for the human rights of LGBT persons. Randy started two weeks ago.

"So why is it that the Middle East, which is home to the 21st century’s first genocide, commands less attention than the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender persons? Because the “religious minorities” that the special envoy post is supposed to address are mostly Christians. Too bad all Christians weren’t gay—then they would have a voice in the State Department." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.

Bill Donohue Has The IBM Sadz

"No one knew how anti-Christian IBM had become until it unleashed its fury against a religious-liberty bill in Louisiana. Its governor, Bobby Jindal, is a practicing Catholic, and he plans to sign a law that protects religious liberty from its enemies. Those enemies now include IBM.  If IBM wants to relocate from Louisiana, it should consider Cuba. But it needs to move fast: Cuba is showing signs of renewed respect for religious liberty, and if conditions improve, the capitalist elites may find themselves sitting to the left of the communists." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.

Hate Group Launches Campaign For ABC To Cancel Dan Savage Sitcom Pilot

From the Media Research Center:
If you didn’t know who Dan Savage is until today, it’s probably a good thing. But right now we need you to familiarize yourselves with one of the cruelest, most vile political activists in America. Why? Because ABC and Disney announced their plans to air a sitcom Dan Savage developed loosely based on his life. This is a complete disgrace. By filling out the form on the right, we will produce and mail postcards from you to executives and board members at ABC and Disney. The postcards will include your name, city, and state, as well as your personalized message. The back of the postcard will include one or more examples of Savage's unspeakably vile statements. Make your voice heard today!
RELATED: The MRC was founded by Brent Bozell, who is perhaps most infamous for calling President Obama a "skinny ghetto crackhead" during a 2011 appearance on Fox News. Bozell also founded the Parents Television Council, which lost a $3.5M defamation lawsuit to the World Wrestling Foundation (now the WWE) for Bozell's claims that children has been killed while copying wrestling moves seen on their shows. Bozell was forced to issue a public apology as part of that settlement. Last year some outlets dropped Bozell's syndicated column after former MRC employees alleged that the column and Bozell's books had been written by a ghostwriter. At the 2012 FRC Values Voter Summit, Bozell told the audience, "If you see any demonstrators, beat them up on the way out." Bozell sits on the board of directors for the Catholic League.

Bill Donohue Has Written A Book: Why Catholics Are Happy & Atheists Aren't

From the press materials:
The controversial president of The Catholic League shows how the Church may be the best guide for achieving long-term health and happiness. Religious Americans are by far the healthiest and happiest of any segment of the population—this is true across religions according to recent Gallup polls. Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League, goes a step further to show that Catholicism will not only make you healthy and happy, but it will ultimately lead you to heaven too. In his latest book, The Catholic Advantage, Donohue turns his attention to the ways Catholicism is experienced by believers. He explores a simplified and practical way of looking at the faith, demonstrating how Catholic living enhances our well-being. With exciting new research and time-honored wisdom, Donohue shows how the application of beliefs, bonds and boundaries lead to a bountiful life, while the atheism, narcissism, and hedonism of secular intellectuals and celebrity culture paves the path to misery.
The full title: The Catholic Advantage: Why Health, Happiness, and Heaven Await the Faithful.  Here's why Donohue is personally happy:

Bill Donohue Slams Obama: Catholic Church Had Little To Do With Inquisition

"The Crusades were a defensive Christian reaction against Muslim madmen of the Middle Ages. Regarding the other fable, the Inquisition, the Catholic Church had almost nothing to do with it. The Church saw heretics as lost sheep who needed to be brought back into the fold. By contrast, secular authorities saw heresy as treason; anyone who questioned royal authority, or who challenged the idea that kingship was God-given, was guilty of a capital offense. It was they—not the Church—who burned the heretics. Indeed, secular authorities blasted the Church for its weak role in the Inquisition. The President should apologize for his insulting comparison." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.

Pope Francis On France Attack: There Must Be Limits On Freedom Of Expression

Via Yahoo News:
Pope Francis said Thursday there are limits to freedom of expression, especially when it insults or ridicules someone's faith. Francis spoke about the Paris terror attacks while en route to the Philippines, defending free speech as not only a fundamental human right but a duty to speak one's mind for the sake of the common good. But he said there were limits.

By way of example, he referred to Alberto Gasparri, who organizes papal trips and was standing by his side aboard the papal plane. "If my good friend Dr. Gasparri says a curse word against my mother, he can expect a punch," Francis said, throwing a pretend punch his way. "It's normal. You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others."

Francis insisted that it was an "aberration" to kill in the name of God and said religion can never be used to justify violence. But he said there was a limit to free speech when it concerned offending someone's religious beliefs. "There are so many people who speak badly about religions or other religions, who make fun of them, who make a game out of the religions of others," he said. "They are provocateurs. And what happens to them is what would happen to Dr. Gasparri if he says a curse word against my mother. There is a limit."
Bill Donohue is doing cartwheels.
I am obviously delighted that the pope has taken the same position I have on this issue. Radio chatterbox Hugh Hewitt doubted last week whether a single bishop would side with me. What does he have to say now? Regarding the pope’s quip about punching those who offend us, here is what I said to Megyn Kelly last week: “If a woman has been beaten by her husband for 20 years and one day she goes out and she blows his brains out, I think we’re going to say she’s a murderer and we ought to try her. On the other hand any sensible person would say why don’t we look at the whole issue here.”

Tweet Of The Day - Catholic League

Despite what Donohue claims above, it is Hewitt who destroys in a segment that aired nationwide today on the Salem Radio Network. (Salem is the parent company of Twitchy, Townhall, and other far-right sites.) Hewitt, perhaps obviously, is himself a far-right Christianist, which only makes his truly brutal evisceration of Bill Donohue much, much more enjoyable. Hit the link and listen - it will make your day. Infighting is funny, y'all.

Bill Donohue Takes His "French Writers Had It Coming" Crusade To Fox News

Since declaring that the French victims of terrorism had it coming to them for insulting religion, Catholic League head Bill Donohue has been strongly denounced by the Washington Post and numerous other outlets, even the right-wing National Review. But last night Donohue got a sympathetic ear on that bastion of free speech, Fox News.

Bill Donohue: Those French Writers Had It Coming To Them For Insulting Religion

"Killing in response to insult, no matter how gross, must be unequivocally condemned. That is why what happened in Paris cannot be tolerated. But neither should we tolerate the kind of intolerance that provoked this violent reaction. Those who work at this newspaper have a long and disgusting record of going way beyond the mere lampooning of public figures, and this is especially true of their depictions of religious figures. For example, they have shown nuns masturbating and popes wearing condoms. They have also shown Muhammad in pornographic poses. While some Muslims today object to any depiction of the Prophet, others do not. Moreover, visual representations of him are not proscribed by the Koran. What unites Muslims in their anger against Charlie Hebdo is the vulgar manner in which Muhammad has been portrayed. What they object to is being intentionally insulted over the course of many years. On this aspect, I am in total agreement with them. Stephane Charbonnier, the paper’s publisher, was killed today in the slaughter. It is too bad that he didn’t understand the role he played in his tragic death. In 2012, when asked why he insults Muslims, he said, 'Muhammad isn’t sacred to me.' Had he not been so narcissistic, he may still be alive." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.

Bill Donohue: Atheists Are Literally Insane And Suffer Premature Deaths

Billboard Of The Day

Via the Catholic League:
For the past several years, we’ve been engaged in a battle of the billboards with our atheist foes at Christmastime. The typical venue has been New York City, the media capital of the nation. This year we chose to put our mark on the culture by making a statement in Los Angeles, right outside of Hollywood. The billboard, which will be on display until December 28, is huge and illuminated. It is posted on Pico Boulevard, just west of Fairfax Avenue, in one of the most heavily traveled East-West arteries in Los Angeles. Located in the Miracle Mile district of Mid-City, the billboard targets traffic traveling between Century City and Downtown Los Angeles. No, the Hollywood moguls who disrespect Christians are not the same as radical Muslims who behead us, but both are full of hate. Moreover, both need to be challenged. Christians are fed up with the barbarians abroad and the bigots at home. It’s time all these bullies learned to practice the virtue of tolerance and the meaning of diversity.

TRAILER: I Am Santa Claus

Catholic League blowhard Bill Donohue is very angry about this documentary.
CNN executives are very excited that one of their own, Morgan Spurlock, is the man behind “I Am Santa Claus.” To prove how happy they are, they are flagging a supremely positive article about the flick by one of their online columnists, John D. Sutter. The source of their ebullience has nothing to do with the artistic quality of the documentary: it has everything to do with Santa’s homosexuality. They like that a lot. How do we know that Santa is a homosexual? Not by his dress—he looks like a regular Santa. It’s by his behavior: he likes to kiss men and boasts about his job working in a strip joint. Reference is made, of course, to male genitilia [sic]. But at least Santa is prudent: he points to a sign above a food station that warns homosexuals to keep their pants on. This reminds me of San Francisco where homosexuals are told to put a towel below their bottom before sitting down in a restaurant. Warning signs are a thoughtful, if regrettable, gesture. We will know the day when homosexuals are just like the rest of us when they stop stereotyping themselves. Until then, play it safe and “make the yuletide” straight.

Bill Donohue On Terry Bean

"He likes to hide his camera in the smoke-alarm over his bed, videoing kinky sex with his boyfriends. He is one of the biggest porn kings in American history, making a fortune off of 'barebacking' videos - the kind of unprotected sex that led directly to AIDS. And when he is not bundling hundreds of thousands of dollars for President Obama, he is riding with him on Air Force One. He was arrested last week in his Portland, Oregon home for rape. Charged with a felony, he is accused of sodomizing a teenage boy in 2013. Meet Terrence Patrick Bean. If a Catholic bishop does not call 911 at the drop of a hat regarding dirty pictures possessed by a priest, he is upbraided by the media and gay leaders. But when a gay superstar is arrested for raping a minor, the same critics say nothing. They never did care about the kid - just the identity of the abuser." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.

FACT CHECK:  When Falcon Studios porn mogul Chuck Holmes died fourteen years ago, Bean agreed to be the executor of his estate, which was liquidated soon after. Per Holmes' wishes, the proceeds from the sale of his catalog of 70s porn titles were used to establish a foundation which provides grants to HIV/AIDS and LGBT causes. According to the most recent filing of the Charles M. Holmes Foundation, among the donations made in 2012 were grants to the ACLU, Equity Fights AIDS, Oregon's Equity Foundation, the Pacific Northwest Hospice Foundation, and an LGBT scholarship program at the University of Oregon.

Bill Donohue: All Catholics Must Support Constitutional Ban On Gay Marriage

"God got tossed again this week when Obama called for homosexual marriage to be recognized as a constitutional right. In doing so, he teed up a confrontation between our long established constitutional right to religious liberty and this newly invented right to gay marriage. Contrary to what many have said, this issue is not over. Were it not for unelected judges overturning the express will of the people—in state after state—attempts to subvert marriage, properly understood, would not have succeeded. We need to return power to the people by considering a constitutional amendment.

"The time is ripe for Catholics to support the efforts of Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, the bishops’ point man on marriage. In February, he called for support of the federal Marriage Protection Amendment. As any astute political science undergraduate knows, there is no constitutional right to gay marriage. But now that this issue has been thrust upon us by our constitutional law professor president, we need to affirm marriage between a man and a woman in the U.S. Constitution." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.

Catholic League: We're Still Boycotting Those Anti-God Bullies At Guinness Beer

"We are now half-way to St. Patrick’s Day, and many will be tipping a few in anticipation of the March 17, 2015 parades and celebrations. For several reasons, the Guinness boycott must continue. First, we should remember that this corporate bully tried to shove its secular agenda down our throats by punishing the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade for not allowing gays to march under their own banners in 2014; it pulled its sponsorship. Its goal, which is supported by its friends at Irish Central, is to sever the religious moorings of the parade. Second, it announced its boycott on the eve of the parade, swindling pub owners to stock up on its stout before pulling the trigger. Third, even though a gay group will be marching in the 2015 New York parade, Guinness is not promising to renew its sponsorship: it wants more homosexual units to march before getting on board again. If it were to succeed, it would turn the parade into a diversity free-for-all, thus eviscerating its Catholic heritage. Guinness has no monopoly on St. Patrick’s Day anyway. It’s time we sent them a message and told them to get lost." - Bill Donohue, writing for the Catholic League.
