Karl Rove Vs Glenn Beck

Mediaite recaps:
Glenn Beck declared this week that he is officially “out of the Republican Party.” Karl Rove responded to this on The O’Reilly Factor tonight by essentially yawning. Rove said he’s not really surprised by this “old news,” pointing to a few times before when Beck made similar statements about leaving the GOP. He pointed to what Beck said about Republicans not standing on principle and trashing true conservatives like Ted Cruz, then brought up a quote by Cruz not standing on principle in fighting Obama’s immigration action in the DHS funding fight.

Rove: Obama Loves Impeachment Talk

Via Politico:
Karl Rove is playing a bipartisan blame game when it comes to talk about impeachment. “[President Barack Obama] is playing with the American people by suggesting a constitutional crisis where none exists,” Rove said Tuesday on Fox News’ “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.” “Shame on him and shame on those people in the administration who participate with him.” And Rove turned his fire on the GOP, adding, “Shame on conservatives and Republicans who helped him along.” Impeachment chatter has reached new heights in recent days. While Democrats are pointing fingers at Republicans for pushing the conversation, the GOP is claiming that the other side of the aisle is exaggerating the threat of impeachment in attempts to fundraise.

Rove: Hillary Might Have Brain Damage

Via the New York Post:
Karl Rove stunned a conference when he suggested Hillary Clinton may have brain damage. Onstage with Robert Gibbs and CBS correspondent and “Spies Against Armageddon” co-author Dan Raviv, Rove said Republicans should keep the Benghazi issue alive. He said if Clinton runs for president, voters must be told what happened when she suffered a fall in December 2012. The official diagnosis was a blood clot. Rove told the conference near LA Thursday, “Thirty days in the hospital? And when she reappears, she’s wearing glasses that are only for people who have traumatic brain injury? We need to know what’s up with that.” Rove repeated the claim a number of times to the audience.
A spokesman for Clinton said, "Please assure Dr. Rove she’s 100 percent."

UPDATE: Rove is denying the story.

Karl Rove On Chris Christie

"I don't think the Tea Party is going to seize upon Fort Lee and the George Washington Bridge as their defining difference with Christie. In fact, I think he's handling to this [sic] – being straightforward, taking action, saying 'I'm responsible firing people' – probably gives him some street cred with Tea Party Republicans who say, 'That's what we want in a leader, somebody who steps up and takes responsibility.'" - Karl Rove, speaking yesterday on Fox News Sunday.

Obamacare: Sign Up Cuz It's Hot

A new video that encourages Obamacare enrollment has the wingnuts howling. Via Talking Points Memo:
The video, done by a President Obama impersonator, parodies Snoop Dogg's hit "Drop It Like It's Hot." "And if you need that new healthcare, sign up cause it's hot," the performer sings in the video. An innocuous parody? Hardly. Rove, the former right-hand man to a president who donned a flight suit and landed on an aircraft carrier before delivering a nationally televised speech, said he worries about "something that seems to aim at glorification of the commander-in-chief." "[The video] disturbingly gets too close to the line," Rove said. Van Susteren agreed and said the video is "sort of insulting to young people because it says get Obamacare because it's cool, not because substantively it is a good program for you, it's important for your health."

Ted Cruz Had A Bad Sunday

Mediaite recaps:
Anonymous GOP staffers and then fellow lawmakers spent Thursday and Friday taking shots at him, but things seriously escalated Sunday morning, when Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace said he had received opposition research in advance of Cruz’s appearance—from other Republicans. Wallace patiently but relentlessly grilled Cruz over how he intended to get the defunding CR through the Senate, as he only had the votes to stop cloture, which would mean filibustering his own bill and shutting down the government. Cruz repeatedly answered that if the government did hang a gone-to-lunch sign on the Capitol doors, it would all be thanks to Senate Majority Leader of Jerks Harry Reid’s use of “brute political power.” Wallace didn’t buy this for a second. “You say this is ‘brute political power,’” Wallace said. “It’s Senate Rule 22.”

Infighting Is Funny, Part 87

Donald Trump don't want none of them furriners breaking down our red, white, and blue doors. Unless, of course, one of them happens to be an Eastern European model hottie that is half his age.

Karl Rove On Gay Marriage

Speaking this morning on ABC's This Week, Karl Rove predicted that the Supreme Court will vote in favor of same-sex marriage but leave legalization to the states. "What we may see is a decision here that in essence has, not a 5-4 decision, but a 6-3, 7-2, that says leave it up to the states, in fact we could see an 8-1."

Tea Party Apologizes For Rove Photo

The Tea Party Patriots have issued an apology to Karl Rove for sending out a fundraising email with a doctored photo showing him wearing a Nazi uniform.
“We apologize to Mr. Rove,” Jenny Beth Martin, the co-founder of the group, said in a statement. “While we may have strong disagreements with him on the future of conservatism, we want to be clear this imagery is absolutely unacceptable and are working to ensure this type of mistake doesn’t happen again.” “The image, which was added by an outside vendor, Active Engagement, was inappropriate, wrong and we have ordered them to immediately cease further use of the image.” The Tuesday fundraising solicitation was titled, “Wipe the Smirk Off Karl Rove’s Face.”
Wanna bet they weren't sorry at all until after they got a letter from Rove's attorney? Infighting is funny, y'all.

SF's Gold's Gyms Keep Their Word

From an October 2010 JMG post:
San Francisco's four Gold's Gyms announced on Facebook today that they will be ending their franchise agreement with the company in response to the news that CEO Robert Rowling had donated millions to Karl Rove's anti-gay American Crossroads PAC. The locally-owned Gold's still have almost two years on their contract, but have vowed to "match every dollar" in their remaining franchise fees with "equal or greater" donations to LGBT causes.
As you can see by the above photo, those four gyms have kept their word. As I wrote two years ago: "THAT, my buff kittens, is how you run a business." (Tipped by JMG reader Aaron)

Christian Super-PAC Calls On Romney To Denounce Karl "Kill Akin" Rove

"Congressman Akin made a misstatement on the subject of rape and conception for which he apologized. Apparently Karl Rove believes the apology is not enough and that Akin should pay with his life. Jokes about murder are not jokes when it comes to politicians where the risks of assassination are real. If Karl Rove does not immediately apologize to Congressman Akin then Presidential candidate Mitt Romney should publicly demand that he apologize. If Karl Rove refuses to apologize to Congressman Akin then Governor Romney should publically disassociate himself from the consultant and his super-PAC." - William Murray, head of Government Is Not God PAC. (Yes, that's its real name.)
