Meghan McCain Joins GLAAD Board
Via press release:
GLAAD today announced that Republican political commentator, author, and TV personality Meghan McCain; Executive Vice President, Commercial Services at Hilton Worldwide Jeff Diskin; Harvard Law School professor and venture capitalist with August Capital, David Hornik; and Managing Director at Opportunities for Women, Linda Riley will join the organization's National Board of Directors. As the daughter of U.S. Senator John McCain, Meghan McCain was propelled into the national spotlight at an early age, involved in everything from community events to national conventions. A powerful role model for young women and Republicans alike, she passionately discusses women’s issues, social issues, and marriage equality, among other LGBT issues. In 2013, McCain launched her genre-busting docu-talk series ‘Raising McCain’ on Pivot, Participant Media’s new television network aimed at the Millennial generation. Most recently, Meghan has signed on to co-host the late night news program 'TakePart Live' on Pivot—a nightly live show that decodes the news stories of the day with irreverence and insight, and points viewers to related actions. The Tea People are going to go nuts.

Ann Coulter: Kill Meghan McCain
Ann Coulter may have finally gone too far.
In a column published on Thursday, conservative pundit Ann Coulter joked that the killing of politicians’ children should “start with Meghan McCain.” Earlier this week, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MA) told MSNBC host Martin Bashir that he was sensitive to the need for more gun control because his nephew had been shot and killed several years ago.It will be interesting to see which news channel will next be willing to book Coulter.
Bashir suggested that members of Congress should not have to experience the death of a family member to understand that gun violence was a problem. “But Congressman, is that what needs to happen to move these senators to stop threatening a filibuster?” Bashir asked. “Is that really what needs to happen? That you need to have a member of your family killed in order for you to do what the American people want you to do?”
Conservative websites interpreted Bashir’s statement to mean that he was advocating the murder of politicians’ family members. And on Thursday, Coulter decided it would be funny to suggest the daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) should be the first to die.

GOProud Vs Meghan McCain
"Meghan McCain should be absolutely ashamed of herself. She went on a liberal network with a liberal host and demonized Andrew Breitbart. During his life, Andrew Breitbart did more for gay people, and showed more political courage on behalf of gay people, than Meghan McCain could ever dream of. Meghan McCain has made quite the career for herself picking fights with high profile conservatives and then going on liberal outlets to trash them. She picked a fight this time with a man who isn’t even alive to defend himself. As usual, however, this is a fight Meghan McCain has lost." - GOProud's Chris Barron, this time attacking Meghan McCain via press release, rather than his usual "She's FAT" messages on Twitter.UPDATE: This is what has Barron so bent out of shape.

Meghan McCain Rips Palin & Tancredo
Meghan McCain co-hosted The View yesterday where she criticized former Rep. Tom Tancredo for his Jim Crow-ish comments at the Tea Party Convention and warned that the teabaggers are alienating the nation's young voters. She also ripped Sarah Palin for the teleprompter/notes-on-hand nonsense. McCain always maintains that she is a loyal Republican, but she sure keeps saying the right things.

Cindy McCain For Marriage Equality
Mrs. John McCain has joined the NOH8 campaign, which is lovely, really, but a little late. From the NOH8 site: In the year since we've started the NOH8 Campaign, we've often been surprised at some of the different individuals who have approached us showing their support. Few, though, have surprised us more than Cindy McCain - the wife of Senator John McCain and mother to vocal marriage equality advocate Meghan McCain. The McCains are one of the most well-known Republican families in recent history, and for Mrs. McCain to have reached out to us to offer her support truly means a lot. Although we had worked with Meghan McCain before and were aware of her own position, we'd never really thought the cause might be something her mother would get behind. We have a huge amount of respect for both of these women for being brave enough to make it known they support equal marriage rights for all Americans.RELATED: The College Republicans student group at George Washington University has pulled their support for an upcoming appearance by Meghan McCain after learning that marriage equality would be the topic of her speech.

Meghan Mccain Tweets And Writes In Support Of Same-Sex Marriage In NY
From rising GOP star Meghan McCain's opinion piece in today's NY Daily News:As Republicans, we understand the importance of strong communities. Last week, the New York Assembly passed the marriage bill with the support of five Republican Assembly members. Now, the bill goes before the state Senate, where Republican senators will make the difference on whether the bill becomes law or dies. Once again, New York has the opportunity to make a statement about Republican values and fairness by passing the marriage bill. I believe marriage equality will soon come to New York. My hope is that Republican senators will offer their support and make the difference to pass the marriage bill. By voting for the marriage bill, they will make a strong statement about supporting New York families, strengthening New York communities and demonstrating that equality and fairness are fundamental values of New York Republicans. It will leave a legacy that will make us all proud.

Meghan McCain Speaks To Log Cabins
The Daily Beast has the full text of McCain's remarks. The best bit: "Most of our nation wants our nation to succeed. Most people are ready to move on the future, no live in the past. Most old school Republicans are scared shitless of that future."
The Freepers are being especially nasty about Meghan, even for them. Sample comment: "WE’RE GOING TO DESTROY YOU MEGHAN; So shut up you little whore!!"

McCain's Daughter To Address Log Cabins, RNC Head Michael Steele Invited Too
Meghan McCain, the flashy socialite daughter of Sen. John McCain, will address the opening session of this year's Log Cabin Republicans convention. John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, 24, has agreed to headline the annual convention of the Log Cabin Republicans, a GOP group which advocates on behalf of gays and lesbians. "Her willingness to reach out to organizations like ours shows her commitment to growing the Republican Party," Log Cabin convention manager Christian Berle told ABC News. "The title of Meghan McCain's speech is 'Winning the Next Generation -- How can the Republican Party attract more young voters.'" Joining Meghan McCain at the conference will be Steve Schmidt, her father's top 2008 strategist. The topic of Schmidt's address is "Moving Forward." The Log Cabin Republicans are scheduled to meet in Washington, D.C., on April 17th at a time when the GOP is seeking to rebound from an election which left the party out of power on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.Newly-elected RNC head Michael Steele has been invited too, but hasn't yet responded. Americans For Truth About Homosexuality spokesdouche Peter LaBarbera has been losing his shit about Steele's LCR invite in post after post for the last week, saying, “If the Republican Party is to turn itself around, it must reach out aggressively to real, pro-family minorities like Steele himself — not homosexual activists whose agenda would restrict our precious religious and First Amendment freedoms by using the government to promote aberrant sexual lifestyles.”
