ILLNOIS: Hate Group Compares Dan Savage To The Holocaust And Abortion

The Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified hate group and the former home of Peter LaBarbera, is responding to supporters who are angry that they posted an old "loathsome video" of Dan Savage. From IFI head Laurie Higgins:
Why view photos from Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen? Why view photos of lynchings? Why view photos of aborted babies? Why view the photo of the young napalmed Vietnamese girl? Why view photos of animals caught in steel leg traps or baby seals bludgeoned to death? Aren't these images shocking and obscene? I am not equating the enormity of the evil of the Holocaust and the American genocide of pre-born babies to that of the homosexuality-affirming movement. I am, rather, illuminating the necessity of occasionally viewing the evil in our midst about which humans have a remarkable capacity to delude themselves. As Christians, however, we should remain conscious of the fact that a life of unrepentant homoerotic activity will result in eternal separation from God. How do we measure the magnitude of temporal suffering relative to that of eternal suffering?
NOTE: We've never been able to find a usable photo of Laurie Higgins. Which is quite odd, considering how everybody else in the anti-gay industry tends to be quite proud of their hatred.

Anti-Gay Sites Denounce Porno Pete's Entry Woes With Canadian Border Police

Peter LaBarbera's claim of being denied entry by Canadian border authorities is rocketing around anti-gay and Christian sites. The story is also being headlined on numerous Canadian news outlets. Raw Story in on it too. Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified hate group and the former home of LaBarbera, pines for the days when she'd never heard of homofascists like yours truly.
Nine years ago, I had never heard Peter’s name. Nine years ago, I had never heard of the Human Rights Campaign, GLSEN, or GLAAD. I had never heard of the dishonest homosexual activists and bloggers Wayne Besen, Jeremy Hooper, Joe Jervis, Timothy Kincaid, or Michael Signorile. I was a suburban mom raising four children and knew precisely nothing about the movement to normalize sodomy and oppress, repress, and suppress orthodox Christianity by any unethical means available. I knew virtually nothing about this noxious cultural effort until I started working at Deerfield High School. It was that experience, witnessing up close the nature and extent of censorship, intolerance, arrogance, and, indeed, hatred from the Left that transformed me into an accidental activist.
I knew I'd get blamed for this. Evil homofascist Mutley snicker....

ILLINOIS: NOM Fails To Unseat Three GOP Same-Sex Marriage Supporters

Despite bitter campaigns by NOM and the Illinois Family Institute, all three GOP Illinois state legislators who voted for same-sex marriage won their primary elections yesterday, although one may face a recount. They were gonna be punished! Via the Washington Post:
When the Illinois state House passed a bill to legalize gay marriage last fall, just three out of 47 Republicans voted for it. On Tuesday, none of them lost. State Rep. Tom Cross (R) cruised to a 14-point victory in the primary for state treasurer while state Rep. Ed Sullivan (R) easily won renomination in his district. The third, state Rep. Ron Sandack (R), narrowly edged out his opponent by fewer than 200 votes, according to an unofficial tally. The close margin could mean the race goes to a recount. Sandack and Sullivan both faced pressure from third-party groups looking to oust them over their gay marriage votes. In Sandack's case, the issue became a central focus. Had the three Republicans lost, it would have probably given pause to Republicans considering backing gay marriage in other states where the matter comes up in the future. But given two decisive wins and a third tentative victory, gay rights advocates have a lot to be happy about a day after the election.
The Windy City Times had threatened legal action against the Illinois Family Institute for using their above photo of Sandack in an anti-gay flyer. Image via New Civil Rights Movement.

UPDATE: Freedom To Marry reacts.
Last night, Illinois Republican lawmakers who voted for the freedom to marry batted a thousand in the GOP primaries. Their victories--three out of three--in spite of desperate and ugly attacks from opponents of equality show that using marriage as a wedge issue no longer works and that backing conservative principles of freedom, family, and individual liberty will prevail. Our side was smart and strategic in these races and stood up for those who stood with us. Thanks to Equality Illinois and the Illinois Unity PAC for their leadership.

Hate Group Has The Illinois Sadz

"As a result of last month's irresponsible judicial decision in Cook County which usurps the proper legislative process, county clerks are now issuing same-sex 'marriage' licenses across the state of Illinois. Making and implementing law is strictly a function of the General Assembly. Ignoring the proper roles of the three branches of government sets an extremely dangerous precedent. When unelected judicial activists like Judge Coleman circumvent the legislative process, they are in essence telling the legislature that they are irrelevant. State lawmakers and county clerks should not be complicit in this gross usurpation of the legislative process." - David Smith, head of the Illinois Family Institute, via press release.

Illinois Hate Group Has The Grammy Sadz

"Beyoncé’s vulgar anti-woman, anti-marriage performance foreshadowed the climactic set piece of the evening: Queen Latifah, long-rumored to be a lesbian, officiated at the 'weddings' of 33 couples, many of whom were same-sex couples, while accompanied by the preachy, feckless song 'Same Love' by Macklemore and the song 'Open Your Heart' by the Dorian Gray-esque Madonna. It was a sorry, sick, non-serious ceremony that looked like something from the garish dystopian world of the Hunger Games, replete with a cheering sycophantic audience, faux-stained glass windows, a faux-choir, a homosexual faux-pastorette, and 'Madonna' with her faux-face. It was a non-wedding festooned with all the indulgent gimcrackery of Satan’s most alluring playground: Hollywood." - Laurie Higgins, of the SPLC-certified hate group, the Illinois Family Institute.

Illinois Haters Have The Rose Bowl Sadz

"It isn't enough for homosexuals to have their own offensive annual parades every June in every major city dedicated to celebrating deviance. And it wasn't enough to ruin Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade for families with a live performance from a play that celebrates cross-dressing. No, it seems their goal is to ruin every public event for families by publicly celebrating perversion: Inquiring minds want to know if Christian leaders would remain similarly (and oddly) silent if the sin being celebrated were consensual incest or the enslavement of other humans? What should Christian leaders do when a biblical truth is dragged into the public square and into the political scene? And what should Christian leaders do when their flocks are being deceived by the pervasive dissemination of lies, including even the dissemination of lies to our littlest ones--lies which are darkening their minds and molding their hearts. If the church does not participate in exposing these lies, which are confusing even adults, who, pray tell, will?" - Laurie Higgins, head of the Illinois Family Institute, posting to their Facebook page. At Yesterday's Illinois Hate Rally

Porno Pete was among the speakers at yesterday's hate rally in the Illinois capitol, which was staged by the SPLC-certified hate group, the Illinois Family Institute. Also speaking yesterday was "ex-gay" nutter Linda Jernigan, who you may recall recently declared that all gay people are drunks and drugs addicts because that's the only way we could possibly endure all that disgusting sodomy. Hit the first link for many more sickeningly fascinating photos by Kate Sosin at the Windy City Times.

ILLINOIS: Christian Hate Group Rallies Against Civil Rights At State Capitol

The Illinois Family Institute is rallying haters today in the lobby of the state capitol. Porno Pete, who got his start at the IFI and who lives in suburban Chicago, is scheduled to address the crowd.  Reports claim that crowd is at about three hundred, versus the three thousand good guys that showed yesterday. But don't tell THEM that.
Supporters of gay marriage in Illinois rallied at the Capitol in Springfield Tuesday. Today supporters of traditional marriage had their turn. Comparing photos from each rally, it looks like backers of traditional marriage drew far more citizens, while the gay marriage activists drew more media.

ILLINOIS: Religious And Hate Groups Announce "Defend Marriage Lobby Day"

The Catholic Conference of Illinois, the Illinois Family Institute, and NOM are jointly promoting October 23rd as "Defend Marriage Lobby Day" at the state capitol.  Brian Brown writes:
You may have heard media reports in the past week that the sponsors of the same-sex 'marriage' bill are reconsidering their strategy of calling the bill for a vote during the veto session this fall. This is good news, but we can't let up yet. It means that your efforts — the emails, the calls, and the in-person visits to legislators — are making a difference. If those who would redefine marriage had the votes to push through their bill, they would not be equivocating about calling the vote this fall. Despite all their money and big names, they have not yet been able to overcome the voice of the people. However, we can't stop yet. We must keep the pressure on legislators so there can be no doubt in their minds that the people of Illinois do not want marriage redefined.

ILLINOIS: Hate Group Calls For Police To Enforce "Morals Codes" At Chicago Pride

The Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified hate group and the former home of Porno Pete, is calling on its followers to contact the Chicago police and demand that the above list of "public morals codes" be enforced at this weekend's Chicago Pride events. The IFI writes:
Though open containers with alcoholic beverages are illegal during the Gay Pride Parade, missing in official police and parade rule announcements, however, are warnings against violating the Chicago Public Morals Laws, which have been on the books for years and rarely, if ever, enforced in the Boystown gay district throughout the year.

The month of June was designated as LGBT “Pride Month” by proclamation from Mayor Rahm Emanuel featuring dozens of social, cultural, athletic and political events scheduled by various sponsoring groups, culminating with the 44th annual Chicago Gay Pride Parade on June 30th at noon. The grand marshal for the parade is former NFL player Wade Davis. Parade organizers claim to attract hundreds of thousands of onlookers each year, including young children.

Use IFI’s advocacy system to contact Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy and 19th District Commander Elias Voulgaris and respectfully urge them to enforce Chicago Public Morals Laws. No one person, group or organization should be above laws that protect citizens from public indecency and lewd behavior.
Listed ninth in this year's parade line-up is Garry McCarthy (bolded above), so don't expect that any attention will be paid to these crackpots. Not to mention that police departments in virtually every city love to work pride parades as they are virtually violence free, unlike just about any other massive public gathering.

ILLINOIS: GOP State House Rep. Ron Sandack Booed For Marriage Support

Hundreds of anti-gay protesters gathered Saturday outside the office of GOP state House Rep. Ron Sandack, where they booed him when he bravely took to their stage and declared his intention to vote for Illinois' marriage equality bill.
The Defend Marriage rally was organized by the Illinois Family Institute, a conservative non-profit that opposes Senate Bill 10—the Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act—which was passed by the Illinois Senate in February and is awaiting a vote by the House. A counter-protest was organized by two Chicago-based pro-LGBTQ groups, the Civil Rights Agenda and the Gay Liberation Network. Sandack, one of only two Republicans in the Illinois House who support the same-sex marriage bill, did not plan to attend the rallies, but made a brief appearance to defend his position.

IL Hate Group Slams Sen. Mark Kirk

From the website of the Illinois Family Institute:
When polygamists and polyamorists come knocking on marriage’s door, we should all remember Kirk’s wise words that “government has no place” getting between people who love each other. And we certainly wouldn’t want to disrespect them. Mark Kirk’s public shift in position, like Barack Obama’s, does not constitute positive change.

Nor did they even change. For years they have simply lied to move up the political ranks, exploiting the naïve and gullible among us, and in Kirk’s case, feeding at the Republican trough. Any Republican who condescendingly proclaims that the “social issues” are irrelevant or insignificant or so unimportant as to be unworthy of his time or her attention deserves a slap upside the head and a boot out the door.
The IFI is ranked as an anti-gay hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and is the former home of Peter LaBarbera.

Not-A-Homophobe Ben Carson To Keynote Vicious Illinois Hate Group Convention

Two days after his faux-pology for comparing gay people to pedophiles and animal-fuckers, we learn that Tea Party darling Ben Carson will keynote the coming convention of the Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified hate group and the former home of Peter LaBarbera.  Hit the link for Jeremy Hooper's lengthy rundown of the truly despicable history of the IFI, who makes the Family Research Council look like a day at gay pride.

TODAY: Hate Groups To Rally In Illinois

The co-sponsor of today's rally is the Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified hate group and the former home of Porno Pete.
Join Illinois families from all over the state on Wednesday, February 20th, to stand for natural marriage and lobby your state rep to vote NO on same-sex marriage. Pack your church vans, buses and cars and join us at the Capitol to defeat this bill that will affect your family, churches and businesses. If 4,000 homeschoolers can stop a bill in one day, so can we! If people of faith allow this bill to pass, churches will be forced to change their hiring practices and allow same-sex marriage ceremonies if they rent their facilities. Individuals and businesses owners will be subjected to lawsuits and regulatory action if they refuse to condone the “new” understanding of marriage. And children will be taught in school they can marry a man or a woman when they grow up!
The IFI adds: "Pray before coming to Springfield and while there. Just your presence as Christ’s ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20) has tremendous spiritual impact on the lawmakers and this bill."
