Maggie: We'll Beat The Pagans Again

"If marriage really were dead, people would not respond so powerfully to the idea that marriage matters because children need their mom and dad. If you despair, I respect that, but why try to get others who have hope to despair? Do the things for which you have hope. But you may be wrong about the future. Do not discourage others who have hope from acting on it.  Our 'traditional' view of marriage was won by the Church over several hundred years of argument with pagan philosophers. What we did once, we can do again." - Maggie Gallagher, writing for the National Review.

Maggie Gallagher Celebrates NOM Task Of Demonizing Gays To Other Minorities

"The majority of Democrats may not break with their party over an issue like gay marriage, but the most important voters are voters newly in motion, particularly core constituents willing to break party lines over a new issue. In NY-9, Orthodox Jews (and possibly Hispanics) played that role, and they broke party lines to protest Democrats' support for gay marriage. In North Carolina, look for a newly resurgent black church, almost all Democrats, to lead the battle for protecting our marriage tradition against those who dub it hateful, bigoted and discriminatory." - Maggie Gallagher, writing for Human Events.

RELATED: In order to foster anti-gay hatred in minority communities, NOM sent specially-targeted fliers to Jewish and Hispanic households in NY-09. In North Carolina, NOM paid for anti-gay black community leaders to record radio ads in support of the proposed marriage ban.

Slaggie: Help! I'm Being Oppressed!

"The new public norms at the heart of 'marriage equality' attempt to deface the Bible by ripping out Genesis and remaking the American tradition, so that public norms are incompatible with orthodox Judeo-Christian beliefs. For the first time in American history, mainstream, orthodox Judeo-Christian beliefs will render an American a second-class citizen, subject to a variety of bars and exclusions government imposes to reduce the reach of 'anti-equality' bigotry. It’s hard to see what conservatives will have left to conserve if we accept this, especially at the most fundamental level (which is the philosophical level, the level on which America is founded and sustained, for we are a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated therefore to propositions). - Hate group leader Maggie Gallagher, writing for Public Discourse.

NOM's Slaggie Gilamonster Copies Site By Closeted Homosexual Matt Drudge

Good As You tips us to the above with the words: "This exists." Maybe this latest project signals Slaggie moving further from the NOM-osphere. In April she surrendered NOM's presidency to Brian Brown.

Quote Of The Day - Slaggie Gilamonster

"We need someone who does not just talk the talk, but walks the walk on marriage. That is why we asked all the GOP candidates to sign NOM's 5 point marriage pledge. Bachmann, Santorum and Romney have. Why hasn't Herman Cain? President Obama claimed he supported traditional marriage but then failed to follow through. If Herman Cain wants to distinguish his position from President Obama, he should commit to concrete actions, not just rhetoric in support of marriage." - Slaggie Gilamonster.

NOM's anti-gay hate pledge includes a promise to establish a presidential commission to investigate the "harassment" of anti-gay Christians. Hey, stop hassling all those Christians beating you with bats! You're infringing on their religious liberties!

Slaggie Gilamonster On NY Marriage

"The underlying truth that 'pro-equality' Republicans need to understand is this: They are aiding and abetting a political movement that, at this point in history, seeks to make traditional Christian views on sex and marriage unacceptable in the public square — just as racist views on interracial marriage are unacceptable — by heaping scorn and hatred on any American who does something to support marriage as one man and one woman. The marriage debate is about redefining not only marriage, but the relationship between Judeo-Christian values and the American tradition. I just wonder what these 'pro-equality' conservatives think will be left to conserve after that." - Maggie Gallagher, crying like a titty-baby because people are mean on the internet.

PhoboQuotable - Maggie Gallagher

"LGBT teens were roughly four times as likely as other students to attempt suicide in the last year. They're also about twice as likely to report being in a physical fight at school, three times more likely to say they were injured by a weapon and almost four times as likely to say they missed school because they felt physically unsafe, compared to other teens. These kinds of negative outcomes are consistent with the idea that anti-gay bullying is mainly responsible for the higher suicide rate among gay teens. But as I kept reading, I kept finding pieces of the puzzle that don't seem to fit the 'it's homophobia pulling the trigger' narrative.

"Gay students are also more than twice as likely to report having had sexual intercourse before age 13 -- that is, to be sexually abused as children. They are three times as likely to report being the victims of dating violence, and nearly four times as likely to report forced sexual contact. A majority of LGBT teens in Massachusetts reported using illegal drugs in the last month. (Perhaps most oddly, gay teens are also three times as likely as non-gay teens to report either becoming pregnant or getting someone else pregnant.) Forced sex, childhood sexual abuse, dating violence, early unwed pregnancy, substance abuse -- could these be a more important factor in the increased suicide risk of LGBT high schoolers than anything people like me ever said?" - Maggie Gallagher in a New York Post column that opens, "Do I have blood on my hands?" Yes, Maggie. You totally fucking do.

PhoboQuotable - Maggie Gallagher

"American politics are in a quasi-revolutionary phase. The people, symbolized first in the eruptions of Tea Parties, are rebelling against elites who believe they can ignore our voices and our values.

"Rush Limbaugh had his finger on the truth. In the nearly half-hour speech he gave after the Proposition 8 ruling ("the American people are boiling over!"), Rush said that Walker "did not just slap down the will of 7 million voters. Those 7 million voters were put on trial -- a kangaroo court where everything was stacked against them. ... Those of you who voted for Prop 8 in California are guilty of hate crimes. You were thinking discrimination. That's what this judge has said! Truly unprecedented."

"Yes, it is. We are entering into a new phase in the battle not only for marriage, but for self-government, for the legitimacy of the views and values of the Ameircan people. This is a fight we cannot dodge, and must and will win. Buckle down, it's going to be a ride!" - Maggie Gallagher, calling for revolution over same-sex marriage.

PhoboQuotable - Slaggie Gilamonster

"I know something about the founding of NOM -- I was there. And this film and this claim is fantasy. NOM was not founded by Mormons as a secret front group. We have many valued members from the LDS Church since, but no member of the LDS Church hierarchy helped provide seed funding for NOM, or is responsible for NOM or what we did in California to get Prop 8 on the ballot.

"Gay rights activists believe they have the power to determine reality. If they say gay unions are marriages, it must be true. If they repeat the Big Lie that NOM is a Mormon front group, it must be true. I say this as a person who believes deeply that Mormons, like other Americans, have every right to participate in coalitions with others to promote core values in politics. But the relentless religious bigotry by gay activists against a religious minority with a long history of persecution in this country is shameful. The wallowing in fantasy (e.g., the belief that if they say it, it becomes true) is just sad." - Slaggie Gilamonster, responding to the documentary 8: The Mormon Proposition.

NOM Launches 23-City Hate Tour

The National Organization for Marriage is launching a 23-city bus tour to bring their message of bigotry and civil inequality throughout the country.
Over 33 days, we’ll travel more than 6000 miles, holding rallies in 23 cities from Maine to Minnesota to Atlanta and Tampa before heading back to Washington, DC for the tour finale on August 15th. Many of the states we’ll be visiting are key battlegrounds in this critical debate, as we work to organize grassroots support for marriage as the union of a husband and wife at both the state federal levels, building support for state marriage amendments and opposing the repeal of DOMA. Please visit www.marriagetour2010.com for the latest tour information, including the bus schedule, a chance to register for email alerts from the tour, and video footage of each tour stop. We need your help to make this summer’s tour a success! Please click here to make your online contribution today. $60 would cover a penny per mile! $115 would be $5 toward the costs of each rally. Whatever you can give will go far as we work together to organize support for marriage all across the nation!
The first stop on the tour is July 14th in Maine, where NOM has consistently and without shame flouted the state's campaign finance rules, flipping the citizens of Maine a giant middle finger when it comes to respecting local laws.

Maggie Gallagher of the National Organization for Marriage has a special message to Iowans: "We're Here, We're NOT Queer; Get Used to It." She claims she was only joking, but she's DEAD SERIOUS about taking away the freedom to marry in Iowa. We just found out that NOM's "Summer for Marriage" Tour will be rolling through Iowa in the beginning of August to spread their message of hate and misinformation. One Iowa will be there to counter their message. Don't let Iowa become the butt of Maggie Gallagher's bad jokes! WATCH THE VIDEO FOR YOURSELF AND DONATE TODAY TO PROTECT MARRIAGE IN IOWA!

Quote Of The Day - Rick Jacobs

PhoboQuotable - Slaggie Gilamonster

"There has been an effort to obfuscate Kagan’s position on gay marriage using statements she made when nominated to be solicitor general, but these efforts are all either sad or laughable. Take, for instance, this Cornell law professor: He pretends to believe that, when Kagan stated that she has never taken a public position on whether the Constitution ought to be read as protecting gay marriage, she somehow meant that she believes the question should be left up to the political process. This is shameful to the author; he must know better.

"Part of this is a deliberate attempt to mislead the American people. Reasonable disagreement is one thing; outright deception is another. Kagan waded into the DOMA case, amending a brief that offered 'responsible procreation' as a reason for DOMA to instead explicitly reject procreation and child wellbeing as a reason for defining marriage as one man and one woman — undermining the law she claims to be defending.
" - Maggie Gallagher, writing for the National Review.

Slaggie Gilamonster Steps Down At NOM

The National Organization for Marriage announced today that Maggie Gallagher will be stepping down as president. Brian Brown, their executive director, will assume the title.
Brian has not only "overseen" -- he has instigated and created (under God) NOM's incredible growth in less than three years: from one donor to 35,000, from no activists to over 500,000, from zero public profile to the recent public acknowledgment by the Washington Post that NOM has emerged as the "pre-eminent national organization fighting the legalization of same-sex marriage." In less than three years, NOM has compiled an incredible record of victories (forging coalitions and working with many others who also deserve the credit, we never forget): putting Prop 8 on the ballot in California, overturning gay marriage in Maine, blocking gay marriage bills in New York and New Jersey, fighting in court to protect marriage activists from legal harassment, helping turn "scozzfava" into a verb. (To "scozzfava" a politician is to inform GOP primary voters that he or she is pro-gay marriage).
Gilamonster assures us that we "shouldn't worry," she'll still be infesting the rancid hallways of NOM's offices as a member of their executive committee while she takes time to write her coming memoir, Debating Same-sex Marriage (Or How I Had A Bastard Child, Married An Invisible Hindu, And Saved America By The Blood Of Jeebus.)

PhoboQuotable - Slaggie Gilamonster

"In the spring of 2009, a few states moved to gay marriage and public opinion seemed to shift abruptly in gay marriage's favor. But by May of that year, support for gay marriage just as abruptly tumbled. Why?

"I believe I was the first person, in the National Review cover story The Carrie Effect, to publicly credit the impact of Carrie Prejean. Pre-Carrie, even most conservative media outlets avoided gay marriage. Carrie gave Fox News and major radio talk show hosts a vehicle for talking about the issue that they understood and liked. The general public was exposed to the truth that the majority continue to oppose gay marriage and that gay marriage advocates are not about tolerance but about imposing their views and punishing dissent, I argued. [snip]

"How can one beautiful young woman make such an outsized difference? It's because gay marriage advocates are no longer persuading people they are right on marriage; they are suppressing the expression of opposing opinions by raising the cost of speaking up in favor of marriage, while at the same time attempting to make Americans believe that gay marriage won't have any consequences. Carrie's ordeal made the first process visible and the second idea hard to swallow." - Maggie Gallagher, citing a pollster's claim that public support for marriage equality nosedived during the Miss Ladyfingers USA controversy.

Gallagher notes parenthetically that the same pollster says public support for marriage equality has since returned to pre-Ladyfingers level, which, of course, shoots down the premise for her entire column. But logic has never been Maggie's strong suit. Nor is the truth, for she makes no mention of her furious backpedaling from Prejean during the sex tape scandal, during which all mention of Miss Ladyfingers magically vanished from NOM's website.

PhoboQuotable - Slaggie Gilamonster

"I'm not surprised that Miss Beverly Hills, Lauren Ashley, opposes gay marriage -- after all 45 percent of young Californians voted for Prop 8, as did 7 million Californians generally. But I have to say, I am impressed with her courage in coming forward and for speaking up for Carrie. The elected officials of city of Beverly Hills are not demonstrating tolerance or kindness by continuing the avalanche of hatred against supporters of Prop 8." - Maggie Gallagher, effectively endorsing Lauren Ashley's statement that the Bible calls for gays to be put to death.
