Things really got heated last night:

Weiner kept pestering Hannity to say whether the debt limit should be raised, and when Hannity told him to stop asking questions, he shot back, “What am I, a potted plant?” Weiner called Hannity “defensive” and said, “You speak to the mothership at that party.” As Weiner kept going, Hannity figured out exactly what his game was. “You’re auditioning for MSNBC! You’re auditioning. You want Chris Matthews’ job, I can tell!… You never shut up like Chris Matthews either!” Weiner shot back, “Why do you always have patsies on?” and commented that “Fox apparently has much lower standards.” Hannity replied, “You want to talk about low standards? You really want to go there?”

Yet Another Weiner Incident [UPDATED]

UDPATE: The Weiner campaign has released a longer video of today's confrontation in which the Orthodox Jewish man heckling him can be heard slamming Weiner for being "married to an Arab."

Anthony Weiner took a Rosh Hashanah visit to Brooklyn's Hasidic-heavy Borough Park today, where things got quite ugly.

After an Orthodox Jewish man called Mr. Weiner a “scumbag” as he was leaving a Boro Park bakery, the mayoral hopeful furiously spun around to confront the voter. “Very nice, very nice, in front of kids. That’s a charming guy right there,” Mr. Weiner, chewing on cookies, uttered during one of several campaign stops on a visit to the neighborhood on the eve of the Jewish New Year.

“You are disgusting, disgusting,” the man, Saul Kessler, replied, referencing the sexting scandal that forced Mr. Weiner to resign from Congress and continues to engulf his campaign. But Mr. Weiner, sagging in the polls as Election Day rapidly approaches, was not interested in brushing aside Mr. Kessler. “Yeah, it takes one to know one, jackass,” Mr. Weiner shot back from the bakery’s doorway. “What’s that? What’s that? You wait until I walk out to say anything, that’s courage, that’s courage!”

And it just went on from there.

Anthony Weiner Dances On Float As DJ Plays Song Calling For Murdering Gays

Anthony Weiner was the only New York City mayoral candidate with his own float in this weekend's West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn. (Other candidates marched or made appearances.) Today comes the news that as he danced on the float, Weiner's DJ played a Jamaican dancehall record that calls for murdering gay people. Complex provides a verse from the artist Capleton's lyrics:

"Lick a shot inna a battyman head!
Lick a shot inna a lesbian head!
All sodomite dem fi dead,
All lesbian dem fi dead."

"Battyman" is a Jamaican slur for male homosexual. The use of such so-called "murder music" lyrics by popular dancehall musicians have caused many of them to lose concert gigs around the world.

There's no reason to believe Weiner could even understand the words to the song he was bouncing to and it's entirely possible that the DJ was deliberately mocking Weiner's pro-gay positions. (Although Weiner did have a somewhat of a flap over his reaction to anti-gay voter back in June.) But man, can anything else possibly go horribly wrong in his campaign? The above-linked site is awaiting a statement from Weiner's camp.

New Wall Street Journal-NBC Poll

With nine candidates on the Democratic primary ballot, there is next to no chance anyone will win the contest outright, and so the top candidates have focused their efforts on securing a spot in the runoff. While Ms. Quinn has spent most of the race as the front-runner, the poll showed she will be the underdog in a runoff, Mr. Miringoff said. In a hypothetical face-off with Mr. de Blasio, he leads against Ms. Quinn 44% to 42% among registered democrats. If the runoff were between Mr. Thompson and Ms. Quinn, he leads 44% to 43%. Mr. de Blasio would also beat Mr. Thompson in a runoff, 44% to 36%, the poll showed. The margins in all three cases were slightly wider among likely voters.

The primary is in three weeks.

Last night an estimated 400,000 New Yorkers tuned in as the top five Democratic mayoral candidates debated in prime time. The full debate is here, but the press is focusing in on the exchange between Anthony Weiner and Christine Quinn after the moderator invited the candidates to state their opinions on Weiner's worthiness to be in the race at all. After Quinn denounced Weiner's record in the US House, Weiner fired back by bringing up Quinn's slush fund scandal and her support for Bloomberg's third term. Weiner: "I've been honest with the people of this city and that's not something the Speaker can claim."

Asked about whether his campaign was about ambition and power, a “hunger for the big job,” Weiner mutters, “It’s hard to take you seriously.” He then repeats in a faux-British accent, “a hunger for the big job.” Asked another repetitive question, Weiner appears to think he might be being put on. “I just have the feeling I’ve like stepped into a Monty Python bit,” Weiner says. “I don’t know. ‘Would anything stop me?’ What, is a rock going to fall and hit (me)?”

Quinn Continues Lead In Mayoral Polls

Christine C. Quinn is leading the crowded field in the Democratic primary race for New York City mayor, lifted by support among Manhattanites and higher-income voters, the latest New York Times/Siena College poll finds. But just over a month before the Sept. 10 primary, Ms. Quinn is still well below the level needed to avoid a runoff, and many voters remain undecided. Ms. Quinn, the City Council speaker, is backed by 25 percent of Democratic voters, followed by 16 percent for William C. Thompson Jr., a former city comptroller, and 14 percent for Bill de Blasio, the public advocate.

Anthony Weiner is in fourth place with 10%.

Longshot Republican candidate George McDonald frequently mocks the former Democratic congressman's sexting scandal. Tensions between them erupted again before the Manhattan forum Tuesday, when Weiner touched his 69-year-old opponent's chest in greeting. McDonald barked, "Don't put your hands on me ever again." The 48-year-old Weiner responded by telling McDonald he has "anger issues." When McDonald disagreed, Weiner said, "Yes, you do, Grandpa." The angry exchange was caught on camera by cable news station NY1.

Both are not expected to survive the primary.

Serial sexter and mayor wannabe Anthony Weiner appeared to be embracing his embarrassing online pseudonym and encouraged crowds that chanted, “Carlos!” and “Carlos Danger!” while marching in the Ecuadorian pride parade yesterday. Sporting bright blue pants, a bullhorn and an Ecuadorian flag, Weiner repeatedly shouted, “Que viva Ecuador!” to the crowd as he energetically ran down Northern Boulevard in Queens with his loyal interns following.

The bad news out of the Weiner campaign never ends. Talking Points Memo has the latest:

Tuesday was an angry day in Weinerland. The campaign staff awoke to see their former intern, Olivia Nuzzi, on the front cover of the Daily News. Inside the paper was an article bylined by Nuzzi in which she told a rather unflattering tale of her experience working on Anthony Weiner’s mayoral bid. Now, Team Weiner is firing back. TPM called Weiner’s communications director Barbara Morgan to discuss an unrelated story Tuesday and she went off on a curse-filled rant about Nuzzi, describing her as a fame hungry “bitch” who “sucked” at her job.

Morgan also called Nuzzi a “slutbag,” “twat,” and “cunt” while threatening to sue her. “I’m dealing with like stupid fucking interns who make it on to the cover of the Daily News even though they signed NDAs and/or they proceeded to trash me,” Morgan told TPM, referring to a non-disclosure agreement. “And by the way, I tried to fire her, but she begged to come back and I gave her a second chance.” Morgan went on to suggest Nuzzi would be unable to get a job in New York City’s political scene as a result of her actions. “Fucking slutbag. Nice fucking glamour shot on the cover of the Daily News. Man, see if you ever get a job in this town again,” said Morgan.

Late last night Morgan apologized for her language: "In a moment of frustration, I used inappropriate language in what I thought was an off the record conversation. It was wrong and I am very sorry, which is what I said tonight when I called and emailed Olivia to apologize."
