Linda Harvey of Mission America spoke to BarbWire columnist Gina Miller on her radio show this weekend, where the two reprised their attacks on LGBT rights as a demonic, destructive force. Reflecting on a campaign to push for LGBT rights in Southern states, Harvey said anti-gay activists should have the same “kind of boldness” and go to pride parades and “places that are homosexual” like San Francisco, Provincetown and Key West. Miller, however, cautioned that “a lot of the homosexual radicals are radical and they’re violent and vicious,” adding: “These people are vicious and we’re not. That’s the thing. We’re not vicious but we know the truth and the truth is on our side.”

From a letter signed by over 100 anti-gay and religious (mostly Catholic) groups from around the world:

The signing entities below are highly concerned about the heavy attacks that the Russian Federation is facing due to its recent Federal Law of June 29, 2013 No. 135-FZ “On Amendments to Article 5 of the Federal Law On Protection of Children from Information Harmful to their Health and Development ...” that protects innocence and moral formation of children by prohibiting propaganda of "non-traditional sexual relationships" among them.

We affirm that the natural family created through the marriage of a man and a woman is the foundation of any human society and is entitled to protection by society and the State as stated in the international Human Rights norm s, including Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Art. 16 (3). Any harmful initiative for the natural family is destructive for the society as a whole. We also affirm that the children need special protection due to their innocence and immaturity.

The letter is being heralded across Teabagistan today as being from "over 100 human rights groups." Seriously. Among the American signees is the virulently anti-gay hate group Mission America, home to Linda Harvey.

The last time this laughably motley group got together was to protest being named to the SPLC's list of hate groups, even though they'd previously declared that being on that list was an "honor" and a sign that they were doing God's work. If you have come here from a "gay" blog, and you consider yourself a fair person, please take every accusation with a great deal of skepticism. Linda Harvey does not believe that homosexuals "don't exist" or are "not human beings." Sadly, intentional deception and a smear campaign are in play. (Sigh!)....Somewhere along the line, a twisted version of what we really say, that homosexual desires and behavior are not inborn, is being attributed to our ministry. Before you make that vulgar call,or send that vicious email, please do your homework and double check your source. Linda Harvey of Mission America, a 2012 inductee onto the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of hate groups, has posted a World Net Daily column titled: "Ten Reasons To Walk Out On The 'Day Of Silence.'" It begins:

1. A silent protest in support of immoral, God-dishonoring behavior is in itself profoundly deceptive. All sexual behavior outside man/woman marriage is sinful in God’s eyes. Why should Christian students and teachers be in the position of accommodating this flagrant violation of their principles?

2. Any explicit or implicit message encouraging teens and even younger students to experiment freely with homosexual behavior is not “social justice” or “tolerance,” but actually, child corruption.

3. Allowing classroom silence to honor the Day of Silence unleashes tremendous peer pressure for students and even teachers to endorse sexual immorality, or be considered “enemies” of those peers and teachers proudly involved in homosexuality. This puts people of faith in the position of violating Christian doctrine through tacit approval (Romans 16:17-18; Ephesians 5:11). They are also intimidated into self-censoring their First Amendment rights.

As we've seen time and time again, anti-gay Christianist leaders want nothing short of an unbridled license to verbally, physically, and spiritually abuse gay kids. If these children "come to Jesus" during their torture, that's fantastic. And if they kill themselves? That's just too fucking bad.
