Roy Moore: SCOTUS Murdered God

AL.com reports:
Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore told a church crowd on Sunday that the U.S. Supreme Court "destroyed the institution of God" by legalizing same-sex marriage. Moore, who made national news when he ordered the state's probate judges to withhold same-sex marriage license in violation of a federal judge's decision, addressed a congregation of about 150 people at Magnolia Springs Baptist Church in Theodore.

"How do they come out now and say that marriage, which is ordained by God, doesn't mean what it's always meant, between a man and woman?" Moore said. "Not between two men, two women, or three women and one man. "See, they don't have a definition. They've just destroyed the institution of God. Despite what they think, it's not their doing. Satan drives us. He's out there destroying everything God created including us as human beings."

Throughout his 35-minute speech, Moore sprinkled in biblical passages and religious quotes written by the framers of the U.S. Constitution as proof that the United States is a Christian nation. He spoke in support of his non-profit, the Foundation for Moral Law. Following his speech, he sold and signed $20 copies of his book "So Help Me God," and $5 pamphlets that featured speeches and writings from the founders of the United States.
The Foundation For Moral Law openly advocates for turning the United States into a Christian theocracy ruled by "biblical law."

MICHIGAN: Crackpot Tea Party Reps Intro Three New Anti-Gay Marriage Bills

Freshman Michigan Tea Party state reps Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat have introduced a trio of  anti-gay marriage bills, two of which are so theocratic that you just have to laugh. Via Eclectablog:
House Bill 4731 changes the current law covering the ability of a couple to get married in secret (“without publicity”) to make that option available only to opposite-sex couples. It actually explicitly refers to a person’s “marriage to a person of the opposite sex”. The mention of “clergy” is important because a second bill, House Bill 4733, would restrict the issuance and signing of marriage licenses only to “clergy” which they define as “a minister of the Gospel, cleric, or religious practitioner.” Finally, House Bill 4732 would make it illegal for anyone who is not a “minister of the Gospel, cleric, or religious practitioner” to perform a marriage. So: No secret gay marriages. Only clergy can issue and sign marriage licenses, and only clergy can perform weddings. No government officials involved, marriage becomes the exclusive bailiwick of religion. Atheists can just suck it up.
In the extremely remote possibility that these bills were to be approved, it seems like an awful lot of gay folks would suddenly declare themselves to be members of the clergy. Not that there's a shortage of gay-friendly churches that would be delighted to be able to issue marriage licenses.

RELATED: In April, Gamrat was kicked off of the Michigan House Republican caucus, apparently for violating confidentiality rules by commenting on Facebook about a pending issue. Unrelated to that, this is from her campaign site: "Our nation was built upon a Judeo-Christian foundation and has been blessed by the hand of Providence. I will stand STRONG for religious freedom against any attacks that may come it's way."

Phil Robertson Rants About Hippies, STDs, and Jesus Jesus Jesus At CPAC 2015

This afternoon Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson was bestowed with the Andrew Breitbart First Amendment Award at CPAC in recognition of his righteous battle against the HGTV branch of the federal government. Pulling open his bible at the start of his acceptance speech, Robertson proceeded to launch into a strident call for a Christianity-based theocracy, at one point declaring that STDs are "the revenge of the hippies." (This from a guy who looks like he lives in a '66 VW bus.) The STDs rant is excerpted in the first clip below but I encourage you to watch the entire speech. The Democrats themselves could not have a cast a better spokesbagger for the Tea People than Imam Bin Robertson.

American Family Association Publishes "Bigotry Map" Of LGBT, Atheist, Humanist, And Civil Rights Groups

We can only presume that this is the secret weapon teased by the American Family Association late last year. Via press release:
The American Family Association has identified over 200 groups and organizations that openly display bigotry toward the Christian faith. The website includes an interactive map that identifies groups whose actions are deeply intolerant of the Christian religion. Their actions have endorsed efforts to silence Christians and to remove all public displays of Christian heritage and faith in America.

A common practice of these groups is threatening our nation’s schools, cities and states. By threat of lawsuit, they demand that prayer be removed from schools and city council meetings, Ten Commandments monuments stricken from courthouses and memorial crosses purged from cemeteries and parks.

Because of anti-Christian bigotry, private business owners have been sued and forced to close their businesses. Families and businesses that express a Christian worldview on social issues often face vicious retaliation from anti-Christian zealots. Some members or supporters of these groups have committed violent crimes against Christians and faith-based groups. Physical and profane verbal assaults against Christians are methods frequently exercised in their angry methods of intimidation.
The "Homosexual Agenda" groups identified on the map are the Human Rights Campaign, GLAAD, and dozens of local chapters of the Gay & Lesbian Student Education Network (GLSEN), who get this description: "GLSEN infiltrates public schools with pro-homosexual indoctrination tactics, confusing many young people and misleading them into making dangerous and unhealthy lifestyle choices that will negatively affect their entire lives." HRC's description: "Part of Human Rights Campaign’s driving agenda is legalizing homosexual marriage by judicial activism, bullying American corporations to embrace sexual perversion and encouraging lawsuits against Christian-owned businesses and states." Also listed under "Homosexual Agenda," interestingly, is the AARP.

Listed under "Anti-Christian" are the SPLC, People For The American Way, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the ACLU. Listed under humanist groups are the Freethinkers Society and dozens of similar groups. Atheists groups listed include American Atheists and dozens of state and local atheist organizations.

Perhaps obviously, this AFA map is meant to counter the Southern Poverty Law Center's map of hate groups. For the last few years the AFA and other hate groups have demanded that the SPLC take down their map. Those demands escalated in 2012 after a mentally ill man shot a security guard at the DC office of the Family Research Council, later telling the FBI that he used the SPLC's map to find their office. Like the SPLC, the AFA's map only lists the city and state of each group and no actual address is provided.

It's rather amusing that a group whose de facto spokesman regularly calls for the imprisonment of millions of LGBT Americans and who has repeatedly declared that non-Christians have no place in the United States has the gall to publish a "bigotry map."

Liberty Counsel: Repeal The Lemon Test

The Liberty Counsel yesterday filed an amicus brief with the Tenth Circuit Court in which they argue for the overturn of the so-called Lemon Test, an expression that arose from Lemon v Kurzman, the 1971 Supreme Court ruling which grants private citizens standing to complain when the government endorses a specific religion. From the Liberty Counsel's press release:
“Since 1971, the Lemon test has allowed mere offended observers to overturn years of religious tradition,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. In the case currently before the court, two Wiccans were offended over a Ten Commandments monument on the grounds of the Bloomfield, New Mexico, municipal building.

“The Lemon test has meant that the Establishment Clause, designed to prevent federal establishments of religion, has morphed into a weapon aimed at eliminating all vestiges of public religious expression,” added Staver. “It is past time to abandon that judge-made rule and return to the actual words and intent of the First Amendment,” concluded Staver.

Federal lawsuits require that the complainant have standing, which means they must demonstrate that they have been injured by an act of government. Over the years, the Supreme Court has loosened the standing requirement for Establishment Clause claims, allowing people to file suit merely because they are offended. In Lemon v. Kurtzman, the Court ruled that religious activity must be diluted with secular influences.
The Liberty Counsel argues that recent Supreme Court decisions indicate that a repeal of the Lemon Test is possible. And then the Ten Commandments can be everywhere.

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore Has The Same-Sex Marriage Sadz

"As Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, I will continue to recognize the Alabama Constitution and the will of the people overwhelmingly expressed in the Sanctity of Marriage Amendment. I ask you to continue to uphold and support the Alabama Constitution with respect to marriage, both for the welfare of this state and for our posterity. Be advised that I stand with you to stop judicial tyranny and any unlawful opinions issued without constitutional authority." - Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore, in a letter to Gov. Robert Benchley.

Moore's letter goes on to call on the Alabama legislature to issue a formal resolution which would demand that Congress convene a constitutional convention for the purpose of approving an amendment that would ban same-sex marriage nationwide. Moore's proposed amendment goes further than the one just introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz, which would limit marriage decisions to state legislatures.

Here's the text of Moore's amendment: "Nothing in the Constitution or in the constitution or laws of any state shall define or shall be construed to define marriage except as the union of one man and one woman and no other union shall be recognized with the legal incidents thereof in the United States or any place subject to their jurisdiction." (Tipped by JMG reader Jeremy)

PREVIOUSLY ON JMG:  Moore was booted from office in 2003 for refusing to remove a copy of the Ten Commandments from his courtroom. He ran unsuccessfully for Alabama governor in 2006 and 2010 and was reelected as Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice in 2012. Upon his reelection, Moore handed over the leadership of the anti-gay group he founded to his wife, Kayla Moore. That group, the Foundation For Moral Law, filed a September 2014 SCOTUS brief in support of an Alabama woman who wants to prevent her late son's widower from inheriting his estate. That same month the Foundation For Moral Law called on SCOTUS justices Kagan and Ginsberg to recuse themselves from all same-sex marriage cases. In May 2014 Roy Moore declared that the First Amendment only applies to Christians.

David Benham, Dominionist

"Unfortunately, the church, now that we have the keys to authority that Christ gives the Christian church, we give that dominion back through our silence. And so what we see now is the struggle for dominion. And one of the ways that we've lost dominion is because Christians, unfortunately, don't believe in the sovereignty of God. God is sovereign over all things. The Bible says in Psalm 24 'the Earth is the Lord's and everything in it,' including government, entertainment, media, education, the legal system, everything. My finances, my sexuality, everything is under God. Does this agenda, this sexual anarchy agenda, does it want dominion? Take a look. Has it got dominion in government? Has it got dominion in entertainment? Has it got dominion, I mean, you name it, in the marketplace? Yes. Absolutely it does. How does God get dominion back? The government exists for the punishment of evildoers and for the reward of those who do good. The problem is, is when we switch good and evil and evil and good. There's only one institution that can fight that dominion battle, and that's the church." - Failed HGTV star David Benham, speaking at an Alliance Defending Freedom event where New York Times columnist Ross Douthat also denounced LGBT rights.
RELATED: Wikipedia's entry on dominionism explains quite clearly why these are the most dangerous of all Christianists.

Linda Harvey: Fight The Evil Of Ungodly Gay Marriage With Civil Disobedience

Labels: , , , , , , , , , ,

Pat Buchanan Has The SCOTUS Sadz,
Calls For "Massive Civil Disobedience"

"Do the states have the right to outlaw same-sex marriage? Not long ago the question would have been seen as absurd. For every state regarded homosexual acts as crimes. Moreover, the laws prohibiting same-sex marriage had all been enacted democratically, by statewide referenda, like Proposition 8 in California, or by Congress or elected state legislatures. But today rogue judges and justices, appointed for life, answerable to no one, instruct a once-democratic republic on what laws we may and may not enact. Last week, the Supreme Court refused to stop federal judges from overturning laws banning same-sex marriage. We are now told to expect the Supreme Court itself to discover in the Constitution a right of men to marry men and of women to marry women. How, in little more than half a century, did the American people fall under the rule of a judicial dictatorship where judges and justices twist phrases in the Constitution to impose their alien ideology on this once-free people? The Supreme Court has ordered the de-Christianization of all public institutions in what was a predominantly Christian country. And the American people took it. Why was there not massive civil disobedience against this anti-Christian discrimination, as there was against segregation?" - Pat Buchanan, writing for Townhall.

Tony Perkins Has The SCOTUS Sadz

"Unfortunately, by failing to take up these marriage cases, the High Court will allow rogue lower court judges who have ignored history and true legal precedent to silence the elected representatives of the people and the voice of the people themselves by overturning state provisions on marriage. Even more alarming, lower court judges are undermining our form of government and the rights and freedoms of citizens to govern themselves. This judicially led effort to force same sex 'marriage' on people will have negative consequences for our Republic, not only as it relates to natural marriage but also undermining the rule of and respect for law.

"The Court decision ensures that the debate over natural marriage will continue and the good news is that time is not on the side of those who want to redefine marriage. As more states are forced to redefine marriage, contrary to nature and directly in conflict with the will of millions, more Americans will see and experience attacks on their religious freedom. Parents will find a wedge being driven between them and their children as school curriculum is changed to contradict the morals parents are teaching their children. As more and more people lose their livelihoods because they refuse to not just tolerate but celebrate same-sex marriage, Americans will see the true goal, which is for activists to use the Court to impose a redefinition of natural marriage on the entire nation.

"Congress should respond to today's announcement by moving forward with the State Marriage Defense Act, which is consistent with last year's Windsor ruling and ensures that the federal government in its definition of marriage respects the duly enacted marriage laws of the states." KKK-affiliated hate group leader Tony Perkins, via press release.

Sen. Ted Cruz At FRC Hate Summit

Cruz was introduced by Brent Bozell, who is best known around here as the guy who appeared on national television to describe the president as a "skinny ghetto crackhead."
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took the stage Friday morning at the 2014 Value Voters Summit and delivered a fiery sermon full of Christian imagery and calls for the president to demand the freedom of various American “prisoners of conscious” being held by authoritarian governments around the world. Cruz spent a great deal of time discussing the story of Mariam Yehya Ibrahim, who took refuge in the U.S. Embassy after being sentenced to death by Sudan’s government for marrying a Christian man. Her story, Cruz said, demonstrates the power of Christian faith. Cruz also lambasted the Obama administration for what the senator characterized as infringements on religious liberty, but cheered on the Supreme Court’s decision in favor of Hobby Lobby in the infamous case involving the Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate. The senator received a standing ovation when he implored the audience to help vote in a new GOP Senate majority and effectively vote out Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. “We stand for life, we stand for marriage, we stand for Israel,” Cruz said of which message wins best.
Cruz also vowed that the new Senate will repeal Common Core - which of course was never approved by Congress, but whatevs! Applause! Jesus! Praise! Glory!

ALABAMA: Christian Group Calls For Elena Kagan & Ruth Bader Ginsburg To Recuse Themselves From Marriage Cases

Via press release:
Kayla Moore, President of the Montgomery-based Foundation for Moral Law, today called upon U.S. Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg to recuse themselves from a case involving same-sex marriage because each of these Justices has personally performed a same-sex marriage. "Justice Kagan's actions are especially improper," Ms. Moore said, "because she performed this same-sex marriage while a case concerning same-sex marriage is pending before the Supreme Court. The State of Utah has filed a petition for writ of certiorari asking the Court to consider an appeal from a 10th Circuit decision invalidating Utah's prohibition against same-sex marriage. The Foundation for Moral Law has filed an amicus brief supporting Utah's petition. By performing same-sex marriages, Justices Kagan and Ginsburg have clearly indicated how they will vote in Utah's case."

Ginsburg stirred further concern September 16 when she told a Minnesota audience that if the Sixth Circuit rules that states may prohibit same-sex marriage, "there will be some urgency" because that would run contrary to a legal trend favoring gay marriage and force the Supreme Court to step in sooner, but if the Sixth Circuit falls in line with other rulings there will be "no need for us to rush." Ms. Moore said Justice Ginsburg's comments were improper because "they not only tip the Court's hand as to how she will vote, but they also constitute a warning to lower courts that they had better rule in favor of same-sex marriage or the Court will step in and reverse them, and the words 'no need for us to rush' imply that she was speaking not only for herself but for the rest of the court. Litigants, lawyers, and the American public can have no confidence in the Court's impartiality unless Justices Kagan and Ginsburg recuse themselves from same-sex marriage cases."
Kayla Moore, NOT incidentally, is the wife of Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, who was reelected last year after being booted from that job in 2003 for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the courthouse grounds. Kayla Moore assumed the group's presidency when its founder, her husband Roy Moore, returned to the bench. Roy Moore has posted the above press release to his Facebook page.

UPDATE: Moore is deleting your comments. Keep him busy tonight!

RELATED: Two weeks ago the Foundation For Moral Law filed a SCOTUS amicus brief on behalf of an evil Alabama mother who does not want her late son's husband to be able to inherit her son's estate. The brief was filed by Foundation For Moral Law senior counsel John Eidsmoe, who has a crackpot history that might exceed that of Roy Moore. In 2011 Eidsmoe called for Congress to have "ex-gay" torture provided to the US military. That same year he declared that gay service members will molest children. He has also said that all women must submit to their husbands and that the United States must impose biblical laws and punishments or else the nation is doomed. Eidsmoe, NOT incidentally, was Michele Bachmann's professor at Oral Roberts University.

ALSO RELATED: Last week the Foundation For Moral Law announced that Alabama has approved the sale of the below license plate. The plate costs $50, $41.25 of which will go to the Foundation For Moral Law, who will use the money to keep gay widowers from living in the homes they built with their husbands who were killed in car accidents.

Final FRC Hate Summit Roster

After yesterday's addition of Sarah Palin, the Family Research Council dropped about a dozen crackpots and deleted their "invited but unconfirmed" names from its Values Voters Summit speakers roster. In addition to the confirmed fuckweasels above, Maggie Gallagher will lead a panel titled "Moral Decline Causes Big Government." Mat Staver will sit on a panel titled "The Assault On Constitutional Rights In A Nanny State." NOM's evil triad of Brian Brown, Frank Schubert, and John Eastman will have a panel all to themselves: "The Future Of Marriage: To The Supreme Court & Beyond."

Frothy Mix, interestingly, will Skype in from Pluto (or wherever his flying saucer may be) to lead a panel on "Reclaiming Blue Collar Conservatives." Heritage Foundation anti-gay wonk Ryan T. Anderson will lead a panel about the "tough questions" on "marriage and religious liberty." (Expect lots of cake talk!)  The most entertaining trio of crackpots promises to be World Net Daily founder Joseph Farah, Janet "Loony Tunes" Porter, and Pastor Rick Scarborough - who will hopefully discuss that class action suit against homosexuality when they talk about "Standing Up To The Assaults On Our Faith"

The list of exhibitors at the Values Voters Summit includes just about every anti-gay and "ex-gay" hate group you've ever heard of, including the World Congress of Families and the Red-Caped Catholic Loons, who presumably will provide the usual bagpipe accompaniment to their Hitler Youthian rants. The NRA will be there to demonstrate proper Uzi usage for grade-schoolers and the Association of Mature American Citizens will be handing out materials denouncing those homofascist commies at the AARP. See the whole list here.

Black Conservatives Group Aligns Itself With Anti-Gay World Congress Of Families

From a press release published by Christian Newswire:
The World Congress of Families is pleased to announce that the Black Conservative Summit (BCS) Leadership Initiative this fall in Washington D.C. organized by Freedom's Journal Institute has been designated a World Congress of Families Special Event. This year's summit will feature some of the leading Black conservatives and Christian leaders from across the country, including Bishop Harry Jackson, Ken Blackwell, Day Gardner, Ben Kinchlow, Dr. Eric Wallace, Dean Nelson, Walter Hoye, Bishop E.W. Jackson, Former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint and U.S. Senate chaplain Barry Black. The event's theme is "Advancing Conservative Principles and Stemming the Liberal Tide: A Matter of Faith, Race and Politics."

Freedom's Journal Institute is devoted to research, education, and the advancement of public policy that promotes Responsible government, Individual liberty and fidelity, Strong family values, and Economic empowerment (R.I.S.E Principles) in the urban community from a biblical perspective. We believe that at no other time in American history has the fight to uphold our nation's founding principles required our undivided attention. WCF Managing Director Larry Jacobs stated: "We're honored to be involved with this historic conference, particularly because of its emphasis on the natural family." Organizers explain: "Both historical and biblical precedence bears witness to the fact that the 'natural family' is the foundation of our society."
RELATED: Last week the Illinois-based World Congress of Families held a conference at the Kremlin where it issued a call for more nations to criminalize homosexuality. Among those in attendance was NOM president Brian Brown.

Creationist Ken Ham To Headline For Group That Calls For South To Secede

Creation Museum head Ken Ham will headline a conference for a group that advocates for a new Christian America to be carved out of the southern states. Warren Throckmorton reports:
Founder of the young Earth Creation Museum Ken Ham accepted the donation of a dinosaur from Michael Peroutka’s foundation in May 2014. Now Ham is going to headline an event with Peroutka and [Pastor] David Whitney and put on by Peroutka’s Institute on the Constitution. Peroutka is a member and former board member of the League of the South; Whitney is the chaplain of the Virginia/MD chapter of the League. The League of the South advocates for the Southern states to secede to form a homeland [of] whites of European heritage. Peroutka has pledged the resources of the IOTC to the work of the League, and Peroutka defended the League as a Christian group. Ham’s decision to partner with IOTC indicates the reach that the IOTC has developed within the Christian right. The IOTC claims to properly represent and teach the Constitution. However, David Whitney teaches that only Christians should be allowed to be citizens.
Pastor Whitney, who has testified against LGBT rights before state legislatures, has also called for murdering abortion providers: "We need to understand that there is such a thing as Biblically justifiable homicide." (Tipped by JMG reader Arthur)
