Gay Men Married To Women Tell SCOTUS: Don't Demean Our Opposite-Sex Marriages

Mark Joseph Stern writes at Slate:
There are a lot of terrible arguments against same-sex marriage, but this may be the worst: The Supreme Court must not protect gay couples’ marriages, because doing so would demean marriages between gay men and their wives. That, in a nutshell, is the argument put forth in an amicus brief recently filed by a group who call themselves “same-sex attracted men and their wives.” These men don’t claim to have become straight through conversion therapy—though a group of self-proclaimed ex-gays did file their own deeply sad and strange brief. Nor do they claim to be bisexual. Rather, these men admit that they’re “same-sex attracted,” but insist that “a Constitutional right to same-sex marriage can only come at the cost of marginalizing and demeaning the marriages and families” of gay men married to straight women. And that risk, they say, is reason enough for the court to rule against marriage equality.
From the brief:
Underlying petitioners’ appeal is this premise: the right of same-sex attracted men and women to marry a member of the opposite sex is meaningless. That premise underlies petitioners’ equal-protection arguments that man-woman marriage laws “prohibit gay men and lesbians from marrying. Man-woman definitions of marriage can prohibit, foreclose, disqualify, and exclude gay men and lesbians from marriage only if it is impossible or entirely undesirable — that is, meaningless—for same-sex attracted men and women to marry members of the opposite sex. Petitioners do not argue that only some, or even many, gay men and lesbians are prohibited from marrying; they insist, and their arguments depend on their proving, that marriage is foreclosed for all same-sex attracted men and women.
Among the brief's listed "authorities" is Mormon "ex-gay" conversion therapist Josh Weed, who in 2012 wrote a widely-circulated blog post which claimed that he is a happily opposite-married gay man with a "robust sex life" with his wife. Also quoted is homocon nutjob and NOM ally Doug Mainwaring, about whom I've written many times. According to Mainwaring, same-sex marriage will bring about the literal end of human civilization.

HomoQuotable - Doug Mainwaring

"Consent that is manufactured is not real. Proponents of same-sex marriage haven’t won in the arena of ideas—they have won through manipulation. The moral high ground the radical left seems to enjoy is extremely fragile, because its popular support has been fabricated. The left’s only hope of retaining this support is to continue to suppress free speech and religion. They cannot risk the proclamation of truth—whether it be the truth of the Gospel, the truth of natural law, or even simple common sense. But the ground won by the radical left can be regained. If we are as disciplined and focused as the proponents of same-sex marriage, we can not only retake this ground, we can also pave new inroads. We must not despair; we should regroup and prepare to wage the battle in a new and different way." - Homosexual horcrux Doug Mainwaring, who will be a featured speaker at NOM's hate march.

HomoQuotable - Doug Mainwaring

"This whole disagreement stems not from gays being discriminated against by a society that wants to deny them rights. It stems from gays choosing to abandon certain rights. Gays reject the right to marriage. Most don't want marriage. They want something different from marriage. They want a committed, sexual relationship with another man. And in practice, sometimes these are monogamous, but let's face it: most evolve into open or semi-open relationships. If gays truly wanted marriage, they would find a nice girl, get a minister, get hitched, and settle down. But that's not what gays want. They want something that marriage is not. They want to slide into bed every night with a guy they love. They want to walk down the street hand in hand or arm in arm with that guy. They want to live a life with that guy in a house with a picket fence, maybe a pool in the backyard, and a dog and a cat. But that's not marriage. No matter how much you decorate your life together to make it look like your relationship is a marriage, it is not." -  Tea Party organizer and homocon Doug Mainwaring, writing for American Thinker.

The reason that I occasionally quote Mainwaring, should you be unfamiliar with his douchery, is that he is regularly trotted out by anti-gay hate groups like a two-headed snake at a backwater county fair. Hate groups love him because like that snake he's a rare mutation - a gay man whose obsessive mission is to inflame anti-gay hatred. Mainwaring opens the above-linked piece by printing several JMG comments from last week's post in which I quoted his declaration that gay marriage will be the end of human civilization. Mainwaring doesn't understand why JMG readers "don't have the decency to be civil" in disagreeing with him and must resort to "fourth-grade-girl sniping." After all, he says, name-calling is "what we learn to do in kindergarten." And then he calls you fat, old, and hairy. So there.

Homocon Doug Mainwaring: Gay Marriage Will Be The End Of Human Civilization

"There is never an end to progressive ideology. Statists never have enough power and control. This will never end until the very institution of marriage is obliterated from human civilization, in which case, we will no longer actually have a civilization. I'm gay and I oppose same sex marriage because it is not marriage. It is something else. I, too, am tired of being labeled a 'self loathing gay' and a 'hater.' I am not. But I refuse to be silenced by those who seek to manipulate and silence rather than enter into rational discussion. Silencing techniques -- the modus operandi of the marriage 'equality' activists -- will continue relentlessly until one day they discover that strategy no longer works. But it is only each of us refusing to be silenced which will hasten the arrival of that day. It's Up to You! - Self-loathing homosexual and Tea Party activist Doug Mainwaring, writing for American Thinker.

RELATED: Mainwaring's post quotes from the "seminal work" After The Ball, a gay-authored 1989 book frequently cited by hate groups as the blueprint that 21st century LGBT activists hand out to this day. It's a ridiculous claim on its face as After The Ball has been out of print for decades. In fact, copies of After The Ball are so rare that collectors are selling the book on Amazon: $400 autographed paperback, $207.00 hardback, $170.00 paperback. Yeah, that's the book that gets handed out at Sunday homosexual agenda brunches.

Dueling Marriage Rallies Held In Utah

Last night hate group leader Brian Brown spoke before about 700 anti-gay protesters in Utah's statehouse a couple of hours after an estimated 300 pro-gay counter-protesters rallied outside.
Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, said Utah has become the epicenter of the fight over marriage and how it's decided. "Activist judges now feel no qualms in simply putting forward their opinion as the law," Brown said. "The people of Utah voted on this." Brown's Washington, D.C.-based group, which opposes same-sex marriage, held a rally inside the Capitol building with a local group called Celebration of Marriage. About 700 people attended, with many holding pink and blue signs handed out by organizers with messages such as "Biology is not bigotry." Several supporters of gay marriage were escorted out by security officers after they interrupted the event by yelling, "Equality now." Several protesters sat on the floor in the middle of the event and threw glitter. Rod Arquette, a local radio host serving as host of the event, addressed the gay marriage supporters interrupting the event. "We do not hate you. We do not despise you," he said. "But we want to stand up for what we believe in."
Among the anti-gay speakers was homocon Doug Mainwaring, who last year joined fellow homocon Robert Oscar Lopez in filing a SCOTUS brief in support of DOMA. Recently appointed Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes told the crowd that he expects Utah to win its case before the Tenth Circuit Court.

HomoQuotable - Doug Mainwaring

"Men who are considering leaving their wives and families to follow the gay dream should consider this: You will cross your fingers and hope everyone will be proud of you for being brave enough to be 'true to yourself.' And even though it will most likely remain unstated in deference to you, the biggest thing your children will understand is that 'Daddy loves the genitals of other men more than he loves us.' To state it in a more vulgar, but perhaps truer way: 'Daddy wants dick more than he wants to keep our family together.' If you cherish your children and value their love, don't ruin your life and the lives of others by answering some fake meme about being 'true' to yourself. Be true, instead, to your children and your wife. In so doing, you will do far more for yourself and your own happiness than you will following LGBT orthodoxy. Experiencing gay sex, even if it is only as a voyeur through the internet, opens a Pandora's box, allowing great and tragic evil to be inflicted upon our families. And we are to blame if we allow it to happen." - Self-hating homosexual and Tea Party activist Doug Mainwaring, writing for American Thinker.

HomoQuotable - Doug Mainwaring

"[Gay] proponents are well aware of just how weak and vulnerable their grandiose narrative is, so they desperately need the Supreme Court to rule in their favor. June, when their ruling will be announced, can’t come fast enough as far as they’re concerned; otherwise the push for sweeping transformational change is lost. Just as the Prohibition movement advanced too far, leading to repeal, so too will the same-sex marriage cabal’s efforts be recognized as a tyrannical assault on freedom and a rejection of natural law and reason.

"Our recent juridical and legislative history is rife with assaults on the rights and needs of children, always trumped in favor of selfish adults. No more. I am confident that the naked overreach of the media and progressive activists on this issue will invite a voter backlash that will either meet or exceed the same-sex marriage movement’s achievements, leading to a thorough rethinking of Roe v. Wade, no-fault divorce, and our debilitating, anti-family, anti-father welfare state." - Self-hating homosexual, Tea Party activist, and NOM ally Doug Mainwaring, writing for the anti-gay Witherspoon Institute.

HomoQuotable - Doug Mainwaring

"I am opposed to same-sex marriage. Because activists have made marriage, rather than civil unions, their goal, I am viewed by many as a self-loathing, traitorous gay. So be it. I prefer to think of myself as a reasoning, intellectually honest human being.  The notion of same-sex marriage is implausible, yet political correctness has made stating the obvious a risky business. Genderless marriage is not marriage at all. It is something else entirely. [snip]

"I find that men I know who have left their wives as they’ve come out of the closet often lead diminished, and in some cases nearly bankrupt, lives—socially, familially, emotionally, and intellectually. They adjust their entire view of the world and their role within it in order to accommodate what has become the dominant aspect of their lives: their homosexuality. In doing so, they trade rich lives for one-dimensional lives." - Homocon activist Doug Mainwaring, in an essay reprinted today by NOM. Last month Mainwaring and two other homocons filed a SCOTUS brief against same-sex marriage.

Homocons File Prop 8 Brief

Self-loathing homosexuals David Benkof, Doug Mainwaring, and Robert Oscar Lopez have jointly filed a Supreme Court brief against the overturn of Proposition 8.  Here's an excerpt:
Note that this repulsive trio cites several articles from fellow homocon writer Jonathan Rauch as well as the French homocon group HomoVox, whose videos have been posted by NOM.  If you are unfamiliar with any of these guys, hit their name in the labels of this post.

HomoQuotable - Doug Mainwaring

"For a long time I thought, if I could just find the right partner, we could raise my kids together, but it became increasingly apparent to me, even if I found somebody else exactly like me, who loved my kids as much as I do, there would still be a gaping hole in their lives because they need a mom. I don't want to see children being engineered for same-sex couples where there is either a mom missing or a dad missing. Somebody needs to stand up for the rights and needs of children in an age when the selfishness of adults seems to be trumping those rights." - Homocon writer Doug Mainwaring, speaking on a National Review panel which also featured Maggie Gallagher and discredited "family researcher" Mark Regenerus.  Mainwaring is the co-founder of National Capital Tea Party Patriots.
