Queerty Outs Closeted Anti-Gay Pastor

Queerty reports:
Until 2 p.m. on Monday, the ‘Our Church Staff’ section of St. John’s Lutheran Church and School’s website described Reverend Matthew Makela as an associate pastor who enjoys, “family, music, home improvement, gardening and landscaping, and sports.” Screenshots obtained by Queerty from a source who asked that his name be withheld shed light on some of the Reverend’s other favorite past times — namely nude make out sessions and sex with other men. Of course, how someone behaves between the sheets is really nobody’s business but his own, except when he’s actively doing damage to others. We’ve seen it time and time again. The lawmaker who spends his days fighting against gay rights and his nights cruising for bottoms, or the ex-gay activist who isn’t quite as ex-gay as he’d like everyone to believe. Which brings us back to Makela. The married father of five from Midland, Michigan doesn’t just preach Jesus’ love and help with bake sales. He also uses his position of authority and respect in his community to broadcast his self-loathing view on same-sex attraction.
Hit the link for much more, including anti-gay and anti-trans statements from this totally gay pastor.

Gay Men Married To Women Tell SCOTUS: Don't Demean Our Opposite-Sex Marriages

Mark Joseph Stern writes at Slate:
There are a lot of terrible arguments against same-sex marriage, but this may be the worst: The Supreme Court must not protect gay couples’ marriages, because doing so would demean marriages between gay men and their wives. That, in a nutshell, is the argument put forth in an amicus brief recently filed by a group who call themselves “same-sex attracted men and their wives.” These men don’t claim to have become straight through conversion therapy—though a group of self-proclaimed ex-gays did file their own deeply sad and strange brief. Nor do they claim to be bisexual. Rather, these men admit that they’re “same-sex attracted,” but insist that “a Constitutional right to same-sex marriage can only come at the cost of marginalizing and demeaning the marriages and families” of gay men married to straight women. And that risk, they say, is reason enough for the court to rule against marriage equality.
From the brief:
Underlying petitioners’ appeal is this premise: the right of same-sex attracted men and women to marry a member of the opposite sex is meaningless. That premise underlies petitioners’ equal-protection arguments that man-woman marriage laws “prohibit gay men and lesbians from marrying. Man-woman definitions of marriage can prohibit, foreclose, disqualify, and exclude gay men and lesbians from marriage only if it is impossible or entirely undesirable — that is, meaningless—for same-sex attracted men and women to marry members of the opposite sex. Petitioners do not argue that only some, or even many, gay men and lesbians are prohibited from marrying; they insist, and their arguments depend on their proving, that marriage is foreclosed for all same-sex attracted men and women.
Among the brief's listed "authorities" is Mormon "ex-gay" conversion therapist Josh Weed, who in 2012 wrote a widely-circulated blog post which claimed that he is a happily opposite-married gay man with a "robust sex life" with his wife. Also quoted is homocon nutjob and NOM ally Doug Mainwaring, about whom I've written many times. According to Mainwaring, same-sex marriage will bring about the literal end of human civilization.

"Ex-Gay" Crackpots: Obama Is Promoting Suicide And Enabling Pedophiles

Via Christian Newswire:
Under the guise of liberating young people, President Obama reduced their freedom by condemning all therapeutic efforts to alter one's sexual identity. His administration went on record Wednesday night to ensure that all gay people in the USA have no clinical option but to embrace their homosexuality. "It is tragic that children who have been exposed to unwanted sexual advances or abuse by same-sex adults can no longer seek therapeutic help for resolving their sexual confusion," says Anne Paulk. "By withholding therapy to those in confusion we provoke suicidal ideation." Paulk is the director for The Restored Hope Network a coalition of Christian ministries that offer hope for those hurting from sexual or relational brokenness, especially those impacted by homosexuality. "There is a growing intolerance of Christian sexual ethics. This may soon lead to a moratorium on giving therapeutic licenses to people with a biblical worldview," explains Paulk.
In 1998 Anne Paulk appeared on the now-infamous "ex-gay" cover of Newsweek with her then-husband John Paulk, who was later caught in a DC gay bar. John Paulk denounced the "ex-gay" movement in 2013 and now lives as an openly gay man. But Anne is still clinging desperately to a flailing crusade whose major group, Exodus International, dissolved two years ago.

Robert Oscar Lopez: Christians Will Lose All Rights If SCOTUS Approves Marriage

"If gay marriage passes, you will lose. You will lose your freedoms. You will lose your voice. You will lose the conservative movement that you hold dear for any number of reasons not related to gay marriage. All the truces and compromises that are offered to sweeten gay marriage as a deal will be swiftly and mercilessly broken once it is the law of the land. Your churches will be watched and subverted. You will risk your job by speaking your mind on e-mail, on Facebook, or even over dinner talking to your own children. If you are hoping to carve out some religious liberty provision in a post-gay marriage America, you are going to be too late. You gain nothing by negotiating some special exception for yourself after gay marriage passes. You must do everything you can to stop gay marriage itself. If you cannot name the reasons for opposing gay marriage in clear, fearless terms that apply to people of faith and non-believers equally, you will lose your faith. The Bible tells us to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. Don't forget the serpents in the mix." - Homocon horcrux Robert Oscar Lopez, writing for American Thinker.

PFOX To SCOTUS: Stop Same-Sex Marriage Because Gays Totally Make Fun Of Us

The "ex-gay" loony tunes at PFOX have filed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in which they argue that same-sex marriage must not be approved because, among other nonsensical reasons, people make fun of them. From the conclusion of their brief:
Same-sex attraction is not an immutable characteristic determined at birth, like race or gender. The growing public acknowledgment of ex-gays and the personal testimonies of the individuals included above demonstrate that same-sex attraction is a phenomenon that can and does change. Sadly, because their very existence undermines the immutability narrative, ex-gays have been treated with hatred and disrespect by gay activist organizations. Homosexual sexual orientation is not predetermined and fixed by “the accident of birth,”but is in fact subject to alteration and change. Therefore, Amicus asks this honorable Court to not declare that sexual orientation is a new suspect class. For the foregoing reasons, this honorable Court should affirm the decision of United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Among the testimonies in the brief is one from "conversion therapist" Richard Cohen, who appeared on CNN to demonstrate his cure for homosexuality, which consists of beating a pillow with a tennis racket while screaming, "Mom! Mom! Mom! Why did you do that to me?" Which, of course, everybody makes fun of.

Robert Oscar Lopez: Gay Parents Like Elton John Are Disgusting Terrorists

"The completely petulant and histrionic response from gay parents like Ryan Murphy to Dolce & Gabbana's comments can give average Americans a small taste of what children in such homes will have to deal with. You can't be a good parent and want to have absolute control over what your kids think and feel, in addition to what the whole world thinks and feels about you and your kids. It's a recipe for emotional abuse of whoever is under your power. Look at the punitive urge, the lust for vengeance, the despotism. That is what I see in Ricky Martin, Jeremy Hooper, Ryan Murphy, and Elton John.

"These are men who will terrorize human beings if they can, if they are within their striking distance. They acquired children the way they get everything they want in all aspects of their lives: through economic leverage, intimidation, and sheer arrogance. Imagine being a helpless and confused child longing for a mom, and being under the power of a dad who throws out clothing and calls for all-out destruction of anyone who hints that you have lost something by being denied a mom. Imagine not one such man lording over you, but two. This is horrible. These people are disgusting." - Robert Oscar Lopez, writing for his personal blog.

PREVIOUSLY ON JMG: In September 2014 Lopez petitioned the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to stop gay marriage in Texas because he used to be a prostitute. In April 2014 Lopez filed an anti-gay amicus brief in support of Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage. Last March 2014 Lopez declared that gay men are turning surrogate mothers into breeding slaves. In 2013, in addition to appearing on stage at an anti-gay Manif Pour Tous rally in France that was supported by neo-Nazis, Lopez testified against LGBT equality before several state legislatures and he co-signed an anti-gay homocon brief to the Supreme Court in support of DOMA. You really must read the Media Matters take on Lopez' trilogy of gay erotica.

Matt Moore: Christians Don't Hate Gays, Real Hate Is Throwing You Off A Roof

"Intolerance. Hatred. Bigotry. Oppression. Violation of human rights. Religious extremism. Evil. These are words that I see used by Americans, both gay and straight, to describe the Church’s stance on sexuality, everyday. These are words that I see fill my email inbox describing my character because of my biblical stance on sexuality, everyday. These are words that I see the Western LGBT community hang like a banner over all things associated with the person and teaching of Jesus Christ, every day. Disagree with us if you wish – that’s your prerogative. We’re not going to throw you off a roof for it. But please, stop thinking that we hate you. Step back and look at the world and re-evaluate your definitions of love and hate. What ISIS is doing is what real hatred looks like. We love you, and we want you to know the true God and His Son, Jesus Christ. We will still be your friends if you refuse. We will still love you and serve you and walk through life with you if you keep plugging your ears when we talk about Jesus. Because, at the end of the day, we don’t hate you." - Matt Moore, writing for Matt Barber's BarbWire.

PREVIOUSLY ON JMG: In August 2014 Moore claimed to have no idea that BarbWire columnists have called for imprisoning and executing gay Americans. In June 2014 Moore declared that transgender kids are possessed by demons. In February 2013 Moore was spotted on Grindr in New Orleans at the same time he was writing vicious "ex-gay" screeds for the Christian Post. After being confronted, Moore confessed that it was a "major disobedience to Christ" to have been cruising for huge uncut cocks on Grindr. He then declared that he had sold his computer and "put a lock on my phone" so that he wouldn't succumb to the delicious temptations of huge uncut cocks. The following week he posted a now-deleted YouTube video in which he declared that he rejects the term "ex-gay" because he's just as attracted to huge uncut cocks as when he found Jesus.

HomoQuotable - Matt Moore

"Am I now straight? Am I now normal? Am I now free from same sex desires and attracted solely to women? No, no and no. My heart was changed instantaneously when I trusted in Christ and began to follow Him, but my mind was not. I now have a heart that genuinely loves God and desires to worship Him, but at the same time, I’m still utterly messed up and damaged by sin. The Lord is working in me and renewing my mind day by day, shaping me more and more into the reflection of Him that I was created to be. But it’s been a process. And it will continue to be a process until I receive a new, perfect and sinless body in the age to come. When that day comes, the fullness of what Jesus purchased for me will be given to me: full freedom from every sinful thing that restrains my enjoyment and worship of God. But even now, in this messed up damaged flesh, I have experienced some change in my sexuality over the past four years. I can’t deny that. And the shifting in my sexual desires is a direct result of my grace-given love for God. I’ve grown in my disgust of homosexual relations because I see what a twisting and perversion it is of the image of God." - Matt Moore, writing for Matt Barber's BarbWire.

Quote Of The Day - Yvette Schneider

"I think the ex-gay movement will be dead within the next 10 years. As churches become more gay-affirming, parents and church leaders won’t seek parachurch ministries to 'fix' in gay Christians what isn’t broken. The fact that the ex-gay movement has been a monumental failure with no real, lasting change in those who have sought to negate same-sex attractions and become heterosexual will become more and more apparent to the average lay Christian. This is especially true in the age of social media, when information spreads like wildfire and can’t easily be suppressed. I’m sure there will be pockets of people here and there who will still try to change someone’s orientation. But the movement as a relevant entity in the push for LGBT rights will be defunct." - Former "ex-gay" activist Yvette Schneider, speaking to the SPLC.

Meanwhile in Washington DC...

Robert Oscar Lopez: The Human Rights Campaign Is Like The Khmer Rouge

"They’re after your kids, plain and simple; all their other issues are mere window dressing. They have convinced themselves that gays are a tribe unto themselves, so their consuming goal is to populate the tribe so they don’t disappear. Parenthood is their great white whale. They want to have children to love them and call them Mom and Dad. They need to get those children from you because biology prevents them from siring them naturally. Gentlemen readers, these folks are trying to find a way to get the sperm out of your testicles and into their laboratories; lady readers, these folks need to find a way to implant an embryo of their sperm in your womb, keep you obedient during the gestation, and take your baby away forever.

"The main item on the gay lobby’s agenda is patently insane. People don’t generally want to let lesbians milk sperm out of their testicles. People don’t usually like the idea of gay men gestating babies in their wombs and then taking them away. (And no, 'visitation' plans where these gamete donors get to see their progeny a few times a month are not a good arrangement; that stuff’s really creepy.) [snip] According to some historians of the so-called killing fields, in the 1970s, the Khmer Rouge hunted down people with eyeglasses and killed them en masse. They did this ostensibly because they worried that people who were too intelligent might challenge the draconian policies of the government. Fortunately, the Human Rights Campaign has no killing fields, so I and my contact lenses are safe for now. God grant that the awakening of reason come earlier rather than later." - Robert Oscar Lopez, writing about the HRC's Export Of Hate report for American Thinker.

RELATED: Five days ago Lopez wrote this: "I will say nothing more about the Human Rights Campaign and its hit lists. I have things to do." He must have run out of things to do.

"Ex-Gays": Shut Up, Lady Gaga

Brian Tashman writes at Right Wing Watch:
An advertisement for ex-gay activist David Kyle Foster’s movie, “Such Were Some Of You,” ran during today’s edition of “The 700 Club.” The clip featured activists Michael Brown and Anne Paulk, and one young man who exclaimed: “I have to say, Lady Gaga, shut up. I was not born this way.” Foster has warned of gay brainwashing in schools and divine punishment for gay rights, insisting that he changed his sexual orientation after “sleeping with 1,000 men.”

Homocon "Ms." Robert Oscar Lopez Tries To File Anti-Gay Brief With Fifth Circuit

Homocon horcrux Robert Oscar Lopez has filed an an amicus brief with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in support of Texas' ban on same-sex marriage. HomoQuotable - Matt Moore

"Neither you nor your psychologist nor your pastor nor your doctor will ever fully know why your kid is attracted to the same sex, but you can know that it isn’t your fault. Yes, you are a sinner and yes, you have sinned against your kids… and yes, you do need forgiveness for that — and you have it fully if you’re in Christ. But don’t blame yourself for their broken sexuality. There are a million different sinful things inside and outside of them (the main three being the flesh, the world and Satan) that have continually worked to shape, feed and further distort their sexual desires.

"I know this blog isn’t a fully comprehensive overview of the doctrine of original sin, etc., but I just wanted to briefly tell the parents out there to stop beating yourself up. Please, hate sin and hate all of it’s workings and twistings and distortions in your own heart and in your kid’s heart — but don’t hate yourself for your kid’s sexuality. You are not to blame for this. Pray for you kid. My grandmother prayed and prayed and prayed for me, and the Lord moved on behalf of her prayers for His glory. They may be out and proud and accepting of their broken sexuality now, but I can tell you from my own experience that the Lord can change their minds (and hearts)… and He can do it instantaneously." - Alleged "ex-gay" Matt Moore, in an open letter to the parents of gay kids that was published today on the website of hate group leader Matt Barber.
PREVIOUSLY ON JMG: In June of this year Moore declared that transgender kids are possessed by demons. "Ex-Gay" Group NARTH Rebrands

Several years ago the co-founder of the vicious "ex-gay" outfit NARTH was busted in the Miami airport as he returned from a ten-day European vacation with the young Latino hooker he'd hired for the trip. This week they have a new name. Via Truth Wins Out:
Truth Wins Out warned mental health professionals today not to be fooled by the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality’s (NARTH) cynical rebranding effort. The group, infamous for its failed efforts to “cure” LGBT people, has launched a new website and renamed itself the NARTH Institute, which serves as a division of the brand new Alliance for Therapeutic Choice and Scientific Integrity (ATCSI). Besieged on several fronts, the embattled “ex-gay” organization’s new direction is an effort to confront mounting legal and legislative challenges. Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing, (JONAH) an organization run by former NARTH board member and convicted felon, Arthur Abba Goldberg, is being sued by the Sothern Poverty Law Center for consumer fraud. A therapist affiliated with JONAH, Alan Downing, allegedly made his clients undress and fondle themselves in front of a mirror. This behavior echoes that of another prominent NARTH therapist, Christopher Austin, who was convicted for inappropriate behavior with his clients.
Here's their launch video.

MINNESOTA: Gay Reporter Grills Archbishop John Nienstedt About His Sexuality And Views On LGBT Rights

Minnesota Archbishop John Nienstedt, who spearheaded his state's campaign against same-sex marriage, is being investigated over allegations that he has had "inappropriate sexual relations" with priests, seminarians, and other men. This week a gay local television reporter grilled him about his sexuality and his views on gay rights. Via Minnesota City Pages:
Last week, embattled Archbishop John Nienstedt did the media rounds, granting one-on-one interviews to most local outlets. (Our invitation must've gotten lost in the mail...) Fox 9 reporter/anchor Tom Lyden's interview with the archbishop was especially noteworthy. Lyden, who's married to a man he's been in a relationship with for more than two decades, grilled Nienstedt about his own sexuality and anti-gay views. The line of questioning culminated in the archbishop acknowledging that his beliefs about the sinfulness of same-sex sexual relations don't seemingly make much sense at all.
Start the clip at 9:00. This is good stuff.

HomoQuotable - Christopher Doyle

"Gay activists are getting desperate. They can’t seem to convince legislators that states should promote 'marriage equality' for gay-identified individuals, while at the same time deny #TherapyEquality for those who do not believe they are born gay and seek to resolve the issues that lead to their unwanted homosexual feelings. That’s because it doesn’t make sense. You can’t demand equality for some homosexuals while denying the rights of other same-sex attracted individuals to leave a lifestyle they find unfulfilling. Their latest campaign, #BornPerfect is an effort to recycle the defunct, archaic theory that people are born gay in order to end what they call 'conversion therapy' for youth. The spokespeople for their cause, to end licensed therapy, are a small group of former religious ex-gay leaders, who never went through therapy and instead tried to 'pray away the gay,' which surprisingly didn’t work! Again, it’s important to reiterate who these people are. They are not licensed therapists or scientists. Among others, they are Michael Bussee (Co-Founder of Exodus International), John Smid (Executive Director of Love in Action), and Yvette Cantu Schneider, who once made behavioral decisions to leave homosexuality, but never went through therapy." - "Ex-gay" activist Christopher Doyle, who is very upset about the nine former "ex-gay" leaders who this week published a letter denouncing "ex-gay" torture. Today's rant from Doyle was published on the website of hate group leader Matt Barber.

FLASHBACK:  Four years ago in Philadelphia I attended a protest of the annual convention for the virulently anti-gay liars of NARTH, where Doyle, who is not quite there with his "natural masculine nature," got ssssuper upssssset because I took photos of him in the parking lot. The protest came shortly after NARTH co-founder George Rekers was busted at the Miami airport as he returned from a ten day European vacation with the young male Latino hooker that Rekers later claimed to have only hired to "lift his luggage." So of course many of us brought luggage to the protest. Hit the link for that day's story and many photos of the attendees.

HomoQuotable - David Kyle Foster

"For over 10 years I lived the homosexual lifestyle, and for 34 years I have not. And there are very good reasons for that difference. To those who suggest that I never was homosexual, my response is, 'Does sleeping with over 1,000 men count?' Oh yes. I was homosexual, though like most, I never wanted to have such attractions. I saw the narcissism and arrested emotional development all around me, and in me. Guys flitting around like Peter Pan were sometimes cute and funny, and certainly nonthreatening, but I wanted to be a grown up. I wanted to be a man. I wanted to be strong, solid, stable and reliable. I recognized the obsession with youth and beauty that drove their fantasies and lusts and knew that once I entered my thirties, the thrill of being wanted would quickly come to an end. I cringed at the epidemic of perverse sexual behaviors commonly practiced and celebrated by gay culture and wanted nothing to do with them." - David Kyle Foster, opening a lengthy piece for Charisma News. Foster, you will be shocked to learn, has a new book and movie to sell.

HomoQuotable - Doug Mainwaring

"Consent that is manufactured is not real. Proponents of same-sex marriage haven’t won in the arena of ideas—they have won through manipulation. The moral high ground the radical left seems to enjoy is extremely fragile, because its popular support has been fabricated. The left’s only hope of retaining this support is to continue to suppress free speech and religion. They cannot risk the proclamation of truth—whether it be the truth of the Gospel, the truth of natural law, or even simple common sense. But the ground won by the radical left can be regained. If we are as disciplined and focused as the proponents of same-sex marriage, we can not only retake this ground, we can also pave new inroads. We must not despair; we should regroup and prepare to wage the battle in a new and different way." - Homosexual horcrux Doug Mainwaring, who will be a featured speaker at NOM's hate march.

TEXAS: "Ex-Gay" Plank Was Proposed By Man "Cured" With The Help Of NARTH

Lone Star Q reports that the "ex-gay" plank inserted in into the Texas GOP party platform last week was proposed by a local man who renounced his homosexuality with the help of NARTH.
His name is Jeremy Joel, according to his Facebook page, and he’s the founder of an ex-gay ministry called Joel 2:25 International. Joel, who lives in Dallas, isn’t using his full name in media interviews — due to fear of retaliation, according to KRLD — but it’s readily available online. Joel tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Bud Kennedy that the GOP platform amendment he initially proposed to Cathie Adams, president of the Texas Eagle Forum, is being distorted by the media. In a post on his “My Journey” blog on Tuesday, he explains further. “There are many of us who experience Same-Sex Attraction, but do NOT want to embrace the modern ‘Gay’ label and have moral beliefs that mean Gay Relationships are NOT an option for us at all,” Joel writes. Joel goes on to argue that reparative therapy is not harmful and can be effective — despite the conclusions of the American Psychological Association.
Joel claims that NARTH founder Joseph Nicolosi referred him to the infamous Journey Into Manhood retreat, where he reduced his attraction to men by 50% in just one weekend. Uh huh. Here's how straight reporter Ted Cox reported the "touch therapy" at his undercover visit to Journey Into Manhood:
At one point, the staff members all sang out in unison, their voices filling the high walls of the camp lodge. Somewhere in the room, a man sobbed over the sound of the music. It was the first night of “Journey into Manhood,” a 48-hour weekend retreat designed to help gay men become straight. In that room, about fifty men — some thirty “Journeyers” and fifteen staff members — sat on the carpeted floor of a ranch lodge two hours outside of Phoenix, Arizona. Most of the men, except for a few of the staff members, struggled to overcome their attraction to other men. Sometime during all that holding and touching and singing, while I was cradled in the Motorcycle position, I felt it: the unmistakable bulge pressing through his tight jeans. It was the first time in my life I had a felt another man’s erection.
Jeremy Joel's website is here.
