Liberty Counsel: We Vow To Disobey The Tyrannical Laws Of Obama And Congress

Over at Dead Jerry Falwell's Liberty University, law students are graded down if they fail to vow to honor "God's laws" over those of the state. So it should come as no surprise that the suspected child kidnappers at Liberty Counsel are today asking followers to "pledge their lives" to "resist the abusive and lawless regime in the Executive Branch and in the United States Congress."

Government exists to secure the civil rights bestowed upon us by God. Government can only do its job if it first gets permission from the People. Government is therefore placed under the control of the People and exists to serve the interests of the People. When any government begins to run rough-shod over the People, or when government behaves in a way that contradicts the will of the People, or when government actually destroys the civil rights of the People, then the People have an overriding Right and Duty to change their government and make it behave, or, failing that, they have a Right to abolish that abusive government and craft a replacement as they see fit. MARYLAND: Former Marriage Backer Now Wants Bill Changed To Civil Unions

Maryland Delegate Tiffany Alston, one of the key needed votes on the House judiciary committee, is backing away from her promise to support marriage equality. Now Alston says civil unions are the way to go.

Delegate Tiffany Alston, D-Prince George's, delayed a vote on the bill Tuesday morning by skipping the session in protest. On Thursday, she said she is researching an amendment that would better reflect a separation between church and state by changing the bill to be about civil unions. "I have a decision that I have to make that's going to satisfy my constituency as well as my conscience," Alston says. Alston says the change she is considering would allow Maryland residents to get civil union licenses if they wished to be married, whether they are heterosexual or homosexual. She says she believes the change would be "a good balance," but does not know if it would receive support from other committee members.

Meanwhile over on AmericaBlog, John Aravosis is eviscerating Delegate Sam Arora, one of the marriage bill's sponsors who is also now walking back his support. Aravosis is calling on donors to Arora's campaign to demand their money back.

Anti-Gay Religious Groups Endorse Former NY Sen. Hiram Monserrate

In response to Fight Back New York's campaign to thwart former NY Sen. Hiram Monserrate's return to office, the convicted girlfriend slasher has proudly announced that he's been endorsed by anti-gay religious groups in Queens.

Monserrate announced he's being supported by a bunch of clergy who are praising him for his support on one particular issue: same-sex marriage. Specifically, his opposition to it. The clergy members announced their support of Monserrate in response to a a pro same-sex marriage P.A.C. that is trying to oust Monserrate. "We find their tactics to be offensive and disrespectful," said the Rev. Andy Torres, in a statement sent out by Monserrate's campaign. "Their overall goal supporting Gay Marriage is contrary to our moral principles. We unequivocally support Monserrate in the special election as a legislator who will defend our position." A more nuanced position was expressed by Gilbert Pickett, another church spokesman. "Monserrate has supported many gay groups that provide services in this community for years but did not vote for Gay Marriage. He should not to persecuted by rich gay outsiders for his vote of conscience which is consistent with church values."

Monserrate betrayed the Empire State Pride Agenda last year by voting against same-sex marriage after telling ESPA in writing that he supported them. Turnout for the election is expected to very low, so all help will be critical to the result.

Some have cited Mr. Addabbo, whose name falls second in the roll call when Senate votes are taken, as a major factor in setting the tone for the losing vote. He was widely known as a possible yes vote. And by his voting no, some supporters of the bill have said that he encouraged undecided senators to vote no as well. Mr. Addabbo disputed that. “I don’t think there was any domino effect at all,” he said. “Even before I said no, these votes were determined.”

No Jail For NY Sen. Hiram Monserratte

Local NYC news just announced that Sen. Hiram Monserrate (D-Queens) will only get three years probation for the "accidental" slashing of his girlfriend's face, an attack that resulted in 40 "accidental" stitches. He also has to perform community service and attend anger management classes.

Last month Monseratte narrowly escaped felony charges for the assault after his girlfriend recanted her emergency room statements to police. Prosecutors had requested a three month prison sentence for today's misdemeanor ruling. On Tuesday Monserrate earned the eternal enmity of the NY's progressives when he joined seven other traitorous Democrats in voting against marriage equality. NOW we have to put the pressure on the NY Senate leadership to eject Monserrate from their broken-down clown car.

Traitor NY Sen. Joseph Addabo Explains Why He Voted "No" On Marriage

Queens Democrat Joseph Addado, who was elected with the help of LGBT groups like the Gill Action Fund, says he had to vote "no' on marriage equality because so many calls from constituents told him to. Via Julie Bolcer at the Advocate:

In 2008, state campaign finance records indicate that Addaboo received $9,500, the maximum allowable contribution, from gay philanthropist Tim Gill, the backer of the Gill Action Fund. The contribution was part of the wave of support, ultimately totaling close to $1 million, that helped flipped the senate to Democratic control and install candidates who pledged to uphold pro-LGBT positions, including support for marriage equality.

On Friday, Addabbo defended himself by saying that he had never promised to vote “yes” on the bill, and that he wanted to keep his options open in order to gauge the sentiments of his constituents. “At no point did I ever say ‘yes,’” said Addabbo. “I proposed I would keep an open mind.” “It was my intention to keep an open mind and by doing so, I felt that I would get a clear indication of where my district stands on this issue,” said Addabbo, who said that he received more than 400 communications from constituents, 74% of whom opposed marriage equality. Pressed on whether he would also allow 74% of constituents to influence a vote on something absurd, such as a hypothetical proposal to deport all the Hispanics in the district, Addabbo said, “It’s apples and oranges.”

Addabo was elected with very slim majority. He's definitely one of the ones we can oust in 2010.
