Dems To Advertisers: Drop Rush Limbaugh

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched a campaign calling on advertisers to drop Rush Limbaugh.  Via Politico:

Today's blast email from DCCC Chairman Steve Israel asks supporters to sign a petition calling on Limbaugh's sponsors to pull their advertising from his program. The effort comes after Limbaugh protested an Ohio State policy instructing students to get verbal consent before having sex because, Limbaugh said, "no" sometimes means "yes." "How many guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that no means yes if you know how to spot it?" Limbaugh said. "Are these [policies] not lawsuits waiting to happen?" Wrote Israel, "Comments of this offensive nature are inexcusable... Rush Limbaugh is advocating for the tolerance of sexual assault. He should be taken off the air immediately." The email then directs recipients to a form where they are required to fill out their email address and have the option of supplying the DCCC with their zip code.

Twitchy is ever so pissed about this "fascist" move.

Dictionary Site Trolls Homeschoolers

After an stompy tantrum by Twitchy, Dictionary.com has apologized and changed their example sentences for uses of the word "homeschool." New example sentence: "In order to homeschool, parents may need to dedicate a significant amount of time to schooling their children."

Wingnuts Attack Gun Control Image

Right wing sites such as Twitchy are mocking the above "ignorant" image because the gun is expelling "the entire bullet - casing and all." And because the trigger doesn't appear to be pulled. That's what's important here, folks.

The Latest Teabagger Memes

Out in Teabagistan some are declaring that Brendan Eich's Prop 8 donation was leaked by the IRS, a ridiculous claim that even some fellow baggers are shooting down. Twitchy today provides the newest meme and, of course, fails to mention that California law stipulates that donations to ballot measures are public record. 

UPDATE: The right wing Townhall is pushing the IRS bullshit.

Eich’s donation in support of Prop 8 was confidential, by law. The only reason it is known, why any of the donations are known, is the Internal Revenue Service illegally leaked the donor list to a gay rights group who posted it online. Someone in government broke the law and gave what amounts to a “hit list” to progressive foot soldiers who have been targeting donors for their personal beliefs. In this case it was gay groups, but these tactics are a favorite of progressives. Under communism people who didn’t embrace their agenda were purged, under fascism the nonconformists were sent to re-education/work camps, or killed. Progressives can’t simply murder or imprison people who flee their thought plantation, though they’d like to, so they try to ruin them in the meantime.

The teabagger site PJ Media is also making the IRS claim.

That Iran Executions Story Was Probably Invented By A Pal Of Michelle Malkin

Yesterday I reported that I could not find confirmation of a claim that Iran had executed two young men for homosexual acts. The story got legs on wingnut media yesterday afternoon, including at the Michelle Malkin-founded Twitchy, which shrieked that LGBT groups were being hypocrites for "remaining silent" on the story. Today activist Scott Long reports that the story was probably invented by one of Malkin's followers. According to Long, the men were most likely executed for raping women. From his blog Paper Bird:

How did the “homosexual” version leap from Farsi to English news sites? Answer: Banafsheh Zand. Banafsheh Zand is an Iranian exile in the US who couples far-right inclinations with a strong fetish for the gays. She’s been a regular for Fox News, Front Page magazine, and the National Review, though all seemed to inch away eventually from her extravagant insights. An immigrant herself, she pals around with racist, ferociously anti-foreigner Michelle Malkin; but she also gamely frequents Glenn Beck‘s paranoiac show to cheer for the homosexuals against Ahmadinejad. She’s a fount of conspiracy theories.

Long notes that Zand is the former editor of Iran Press News, where the "homosexual acts" claim was apparently first published this week. Click over to Long's site for an exhaustive tracking of the original Farsi story to what it became on English-language right wing sites.

The debunking of this story doesn't lessen the horrific plight of gays in Iran, but it does give us yet another example about how little the truth means to the enemies of our people.  Long concludes: "Everything suggests this was a heterosexual rape case that quickly got turned into a 'homosexual' story — the moment it reached the US. It was reshaped deliberately, deceptively, and opportunistically, as a small stratagem to persuade US gays to mobilize in opposition to Iran, Rouhani, and any possible nuclear accord."

Don't expect Twitchy to update their story.

Meanwhile Over At Twitchy...

Twitchy is gleefully jumping on today's claim that Iran has executed two gay men by shrieking that the "silence" from LGBT activists is yet more evidence of the left's hypocrisy. Or something. Never mind that the story is brand new and has yet to be independently confirmed. I'd point them to my post, but they banned me a few weeks ago for noting Tony Perkins' history with the KKK.

UPDATE: GLAAD has also picked up my post. Maybe that will shut up Twitchy.

Michelle Malkin Sells Twitchy

The headline above is from Wonkette.  Over at Buzzfeed, they are more charitable.

Twitchy, the conservative Twitter aggregation site, has been sold for an undisclosed amount to Salem Communications, the Christian radio conglomerate and owners of Hotair.com and Townhall.com. Jonathan Garthwaite, general manager and editor-in-chief of Townhall.com, confirmed the news to BuzzFeed Tuesday, saying he was “excited” to be folding Twitchy into existing Salem news properties. “Media Matters types would like to paint conservatives as boring, old white guys,” Garthwaite said. “Twitchy adds more fun and humor to our platform, which will appeal to totally different generation and break that stereotype.”

Malkin claims that Twitchy is generating 12 million pages views a month with a staff of nine.
