KANSAS: Legislature Considers Bill That Calls For Quarantining The HIV+

The Kansas legislature is expected to pass a bill that provides for quarantining people living with HIV and AIDS. This story is NOT from thirty years ago. The bill is allegedly meant to help emergency response workers (firefighters, EMTs, etc) who presently must get a court order to test the blood of patients to whom they have been exposed.
Kansas banned quarantining those with AIDS back in 1988, but if this law is passed, those in the LGBT community fear health officials — especially those in rural areas — will begin intimidating those with HIV by threatening to quarantine them. Lawmakers say that is not the intent of this law, that they want to give health officials the ability to quarantine those with infectious diseases if need be. But since the way people are infected with HIV is so different from many other infectious diseases like TB and Hepatitis, AIDS activists don’t believe HIV patients should ever be threatened by health officials.
From the bill, which includes people infected with tuberculosis, hepatitis B & C, and HIV.
The secretary of health and environment is authorized to issue such orders and adopt rules and regulations as may be necessary to prevent the spread and dissemination of diseases injurious to the public health, including, but not limited to, providing for the testing for such diseases and the isolation and quarantine of persons afflicted with or exposed to such diseases. No later than January 1, 2014, the secretary shall develop and adopt rules and regulations providing for the protection of individuals who provide medical or nursing services, clinical or forensic laboratory services, emergency medical services and firefighting, law enforcement and correctional services, or who provide any other service {or individuals who receive any such services} or are in any other employment where the individual may encounter occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.

Cindy Jacobs: Pray For SC To Choose A Christian Who Will Impose Biblical Law

"We Declare and Decree that: South Carolina will be guided by Holy Spirit. South Carolina will hear the voice of the Lord as to the one He has chosen and vote with courage and wisdom. South Carolina will point the Nation toward the rising up of the Lord’s anointed for the Office of President. South Carolina will lift up the one who will make all choices based on God’s Word as revealed in Holy Scripture. South Carolina will be the state which releases a new 'David Anointing' on the one chosen to seek after God’s heart and kill the goliaths in SC and America. No more compromise of your revealed values and standards in your Word. South Carolina will chose one who will support and defend Israel." - Wackadoodle "healer" Cindy Jacobs.

RELATED: Jacobs also has a special prayer for South Carolina's polling places, which are apparently where Satan reigns.

Oh Lord Jesus, we pray and put your precious blood over this property, building and people. We seal it with your powerful, cleansing, redeeming blood. We put a waterfall of your blood flowing down over every door, window or spiritual entryway. We bath and cleans each person who enters with your precious blood. In Jesus Name we claim and cleans this property for the Lord’s Holy purpose. In Jesus Name, we take authority over all demonic forces of Satan and bind them into silence and inactivity. In Jesus Name, we refuse any communication between spirits unless directed by the Holy Spirit.

SOUTH DAKOTA: Republicans Post Bill Legalizing Murder Of Abortion Doctors

South Dakota GOP lawmakers have introduced a bill classifying a murder done "in the defense of a fetus" as justifiable homicide. The bill's chief sponsor is Tea Party-backed Rep. Phil Jensen.
A law under consideration in South Dakota would expand the definition of "justifiable homicide" to include killings that are intended to prevent harm to a fetus—a move that could make it legal to kill doctors who perform abortions. The Republican-backed legislation, House Bill 1171, has passed out of committee on a nine-to-three party-line vote, and is expected to face a floor vote in the state's GOP-dominated House of Representatives soon. " The bill, sponsored by state Rep. Phil Jensen, a committed foe of abortion rights, alters the state's legal definition of justifiable homicide by adding language stating that a homicide is permissible if committed by a person "while resisting an attempt to harm" that person's unborn child or the unborn child of that person's spouse, partner, parent, or child. If the bill passes, it could in theory allow a woman's father, mother, son, daughter, or husband to kill anyone who tried to provide that woman an abortion—even if she wanted one.
Testifying in support of the bill: Concerned Women for America, Phyllis Schlafly's Eagle Forum, and the Family Heritage Alliance.

ARIZONA GOP Candidate Wants To Cut Off Electricity To Undocumented Immigrants

Arizona GOP candidate Barry Wong wants the state to cut off the electricity of anybody not in the country legally.
“We shoulder and we all share the costs,” said Wong, who is running for a seat on the Arizona Corporation Commission. “Granted they pay for it, but as we use more electricity overall then utilities will have to eventually build more power plants.” If undocumented immigrants have their utilities turned off, Wong predicts it would keep costs down for everyone else. "The [state] constitution gives the Corporation Commission specific authority to deal with rate-making which is setting the price that we pay for the electric, natural gas, telephone service, private water companies," Wong said. Wong, whose grandparents immigrated to the United State from China, said his plan would start off by having utility companies verify the immigration status of new customers. He would then focus on finding existing customers in the country illegally.
Arizona temperatures routinely reach the triple-digits and the lack of air conditioning could mean a death sentence for some.

Militia Members Gather Outside DC

Militia members are gathering on a field just outside of Washington DC today in advance of their Second Amendment March on the Capitol. Outside DC city limits, they are allowed to openly brandish their weapons.
On the lineup are several heroes of the militia movement, including Mike Vanderboegh, who advocated throwing bricks through the windows of Democrats who voted for the health-care bill; Tom Fernandez, who has established a nationwide call tree to mobilize an armed resistance to any government order to seize firearms; and former Arizona sheriff Richard Mack, who refused to enforce the Brady law and then won a Supreme Court verdict that weakened its background-check provisions. Those coming to the "Restore the Constitution" rally give Obama no quarter for signing the law that permits them to bring their guns to Fort Hunt, run by the National Park Service, and to Gravelly Point on the banks of the Potomac River. Nor are they comforted by a broad expansion of gun rights in several states since his election. The brandishing of weapons is "not just an important symbol" but "a reminder of who we are," said Almond. "The founders knew that it is the tendency of government to expand itself and embrace its own power, and they knew the citizenry had to be reminded of that."
Not uncoincidentally, today's saber rattling towards our federal government comes on the 15th anniversary of the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City. JMG reader and federal employee Jimbo sends us the below photo of seven coworkers killed on that day. It hangs in the office of Jimbo's agency there.

Sarah Palin Increases Income By 100X

Since quitting her job as Alaska governor, Sarah Palin's income has increased 100-fold to an estimated $12M annually. At least.
Since leaving office at the end of July 2009, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee has brought in at least 100 times her old salary – a haul now estimated at more than $12 million -- through television and book deals and a heavy schedule of speaking appearances worth five and six figures. That conservative estimate is based on publicly available records and news accounts. The actual number is probably much higher, but is hard to quantify because Palin does not publicize her earnings. She reputedly got a $7 million deal for her first book, with the bulk of that money due after her resignation as governor, and will earn about $250,000 per episode, according to the web site The Daily Beast, for each of eight episodes of a reality show about Alaska for the The Learning Channel. She has managed to keep a lid on reliable figures for her earnings from a multi-year contract with Fox News and a second book deal with HarperCollins.
A single speaking appearance earns Palin at least $100,000.

Most Birthers Are Southern

Obviously this poll speaks to the lingering racism of the U.S. south, where 53% of the respondents said "no" or "unsure" when asked if the president was a U.S. citizen. And 58% of Republicans answered the same way.

Octomom Goes Begging

That woman with a clown car for a uterus has launched a website asking for cash and baby supply donations. Meanwhile Page Six is claiming that NBC paid up to seven figures for Octomommy's interview on Tuesday. NBC says "Bullshit, we paid nothing." And folks in California are going nuts because of this:
A big share of the financial burden of raising Nadya Suleman's 14 children could fall on the shoulders of California's taxpayers, compounding the public furor in a state already billions of dollars in the red. Even before the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother gave birth to octuplets last month, she had been caring for her six other children with the help of $490 a month in food stamps, plus Social Security disability payments for three of the youngsters. The public aid will almost certainly be increased with the new additions to her family. Also, the hospital where the octuplets are expected to spend seven to 12 weeks has requested reimbursement from Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program, for care of the premature babies, according to the Los Angeles Times. The cost has not been disclosed.
I watched the NBC interview and couldn't understand why Suleman wasn't asked about her duck lips. Seriously. Who paid for THOSE? Amanda Lepore must be SO jealous. I am so in love with this entire story, just because of the way the Freeper types are twisting themselves into logical ropes.

PETA Protests Westminster

If you were going past Madison Square Garden last night, you might have thought the KKK was having a membership drive. But no, it was just PETA handing out flyers to protest the Westminster dog show.
"Is this really the KKK?'' somebody asked the woman in the white robe and the pointy hat. Crowds gawked Monday at a table set up outside Madison Square Garden, where People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was protesting the start of the Westminster Kennel Club show. PETA contends that the American Kennel Club promotes pure-breeding of dogs that is harmful to their health. "Welcome AKC Members,'' read a banner hanging from the table -- with AKC crossed out and KKK written above it. Two PETA protesters dressed as Ku Klux Klan members, while other volunteers handed out brochures that read: "The KKK and the AKC: BFF?" Most passers-by seemed more puzzled than offended, though those who didn't stop walked away thinking they really had seen the KKK. The most common reaction was to pull out a cell phone and start snapping photos. Police monitored the situation from nearby, but the scene was mostly calm. One shouting match broke out during the hour-long protest. Earlier, a man strode away yelling, "That's disgusting! I'm going to buy more fur!'' Fatima Walden, who spotted the protest during a shopping trip, called the KKK imagery inappropriate no matter what the message. "They could have used something else as an example," she said. "You should be considerate to everybody.
AKC=KKK. Because dogs are slaves? Because....huh?

Westboro To Picket Inauguration

The Westboro Baptist Church has been given permission to picket Barack Obama's inauguration.
NBC reports that the US National Park Service has granted Westboro Baptist Church a permit to protest on Inauguration Day, January 20th. 15 members will be in a corner of John Marshal Memorial Park on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue. This year the inauguration parade will include the Lesbian and Gay Band Association as a marching contingent. It is the first time a gay group has been asked to march. During his inauguration parades President Clinton allowed the LGBA to perform on the street. Officials are unsure how many people will come to Washington to take part in the inauguration celebrations, but it has been reported that up to five million people may be on the streets, lining the parade route and packing into open spaces in front of the Capitol. Less than half a million attended the inaguration of George W Bush in 2005.
I still say the Westboro nutters are one of the best things ever to happen to the LGBT movement. Every time they leave their sewer, the MSM writes 100 sympathetic stories about gay rights. We should be paying these people.

Gay Executions Continue In Iraq

Via Rex Wockner comes word that Outrage!, the UK-based activist group headed by Peter Tatchell, is reporting that gays are continuing to be executed by hit squads in Iraq, with the support and approval of Iraqi clerics. The dead men pictured here were suspected of being gay.
OUTRAGE!: Iraqi lesbians and gays continue to be subjected a systematic reign of terror by Shia death squads. The government of Iraq refuses to crack down on the killers or to take any action to protect its gay citizens. It is a regime that is dominated by Shia fanatics and homophobes,” according to Ali Hili, the coordinator of the humanrights group Iraqi LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender).

“Supporters of the fundamentalist Sadr and Badr militias boast that they are cleansing Iraq of what they call ‘sexual perverts’. They are open about terrorising gay Iraqis to make them flee the country and murdering those who fail to leave. Their goal is a queer-free, pro-homophobic Iraq. They are dragging our country back to the dark ages,” said the London-based Mr Hili, who is also Middle East spokesperson for the gay human rights group, OutRage!

Some members of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s government are linked to the anti-gay death squads. They are the political representatives of the Muqtada al-Sadr movement and the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI). Both these parties have militias, respectively the Mahdi army and the Badr brigades, who are responsible for the execution-style killing of lesbian and gay Iraqis – and the murder of many other Iraqis, including Sunni Muslims, trade unionists, unveiled women, journalists and men wearing shorts, jeans or western-style haircuts.

“The murder of gay Iraqis has the support of highly influential religious leaders, such as Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. He issued a fatwa in late 2005, calling for the execution of gay people in the ‘most severe way possible’. After international protests, he removed the fatwa from his website, but the fatwa itself has not been
rescinded. It remains in force and is the spiritual sanction for the death squads to murder gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people,” said Mr Hili.
The Outrage! blog lists many example of LGBT Iraqis abducted and murdered. One example: "Sayf, a gay 25-year-old, worked for the Iraqi police as a translator. He was kidnapped in the Al-Adhamya suburb by black masked men in Ministry of Interior security force uniforms who drove a marked police car. Almost certainly they were members of the Badr militia which has infiltrated the Interior Ministry and police. Sayf’s body was found several days later, with his head cut off."

Once we finally do leave Iraq, I fear that these murders will only escalate. Peter Tatchell reports that an underground network of gay Iraqis is helping some evade the hit squads, providing temporay refuge in safe houses. Visit the Outrage! blog for information on how to donate funds to help the Iraqi gay underground pay for this housing and for escape passage to Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
